Chapter Text
Jungwon was woken up by the sounds of his little sisters arguing and his mom yelling at them. He sighed, slowly getting up from his plush bed. He didn’t really want to go to school today. It was his first day at a new school he transferred to three months into the year. Yet, he got up brushed his teeth, washed his face, and put on his new uniform, not used to the constricting collared shirt.
He made his way downstairs and took his seat at the table across from his mom and the twins on either side. “How are you feeling honey? Are you excited?”, his mom asked.
Shrugging, Jungwon picked at the eggs on his plate. “I guess. I’ll let you know when I get home later. I gotta go.”, he got up, grabbed his bag, and gave each of the girls a kiss on the forehead.
He hugged his mom, “I know it’s hard for you, always moving around. I’m so sorry.” she whispered.
Jungwon smiled softly. “I know mom. I’ll be alright, you know me.” And he was off.
The walk to school was nice; It was still fall so it was pleasantly cool rather than freezing. He saw other students from his school walking with him.
When he reached the gate he paused. It was a public school but it looked like a castle. Slightly intimidated, he ventured into the sea of students in the courtyard.
As Jungwon was walking, something slammed into him and knocked him to the ground.
“What the hell Jake?” someone exclaimed, “You just knocked this kid over.” Jungwon felt two arms slip under his armpits and haul him up with surprising strength. Jungwon looked up at the person who helped him and had to hold in a gasp. He was gorgeous. The other boy was taller than himself, had doe eyes and wavy black hair. He was glaring at another boy who, Jungwon assumed, was the boy that ran into him, Jake.
Jake was also very handsome. He had plump lips, sharp cheekbones, and shaggy brown hair. He was walking closer to Jungwon looking like a kicked puppy. “I’m really sorry, dude.” Jake spoke with an accent Jungwon noticed. “I didn’t mean to, I was just distracted by… uh… nothing. Nevermind.”
The tall boy leaned down and whispered to Jungwon, “He was looking at a boy he likes.” Jake lightly shoved the black haired one while he giggled.
A new voice chimed in, “Jake, Heeseung '', that must be the tall one,”are you guys bullying the new kid.” Two other boys approached the trio.
Jungwon was almost knocked to the ground again because the two new ones were also unnecessarily attractive. The shorter one had pink hair, and the juxtaposition of very sharp eyes and soft cheeks. He was really pretty. The taller one looked slightly feline, yet masculine. He had pouty lips and chin length blond hair with the roots grown out.
“Nah.” Heeseung said “Jake just ran into him and I was helping him up.” The pink harried one nodded.
Jungwon spoke up for the first time. “How did you know I was new?”
“Ah, I know everything that goes on here.” The pink haired responded, he extended his hand, “Kim Sunoo at your service.”
Jungwon took Sunoos hand and smiled. “Yang Jungwon. Nice to meet you.”
“A pleasure. I’m sure you've met Shim Jake, the one that looks like a puppy. And Lee Heeseung.” Sunoo gestured to the tall one that helped Jungwon. “And this is Nishimura Riki.” The long haired one waived.
“I didn’t know you were new.” Heeseung said smiling, “Welcome to BeLift High under HYBE district.
“Thanks.” Jungwon said, then he grimaced and tugged at the collar of his shirt. Then his hand got smacked away.
“Oh baby no. we’re going to get you something more comfortable than this ugly shirt.” Sunoo said and turned and walked off. Jungwon stood slightly confused.
“He wants you to follow him.” Jake said, “Let’s go before we lose him.”
As he was walking with the other four Jungwon really looked around him for the first time. The crowd thinned out a bit because people began going to their classes. He noticed that there really wasn’t anyone who was wearing the full uniform. Some were wearing sweatpants with the school logo on them, others had the blazer on with a t- shirt and jeans. Heeseung and Jake were both wearing sweatpants and sweatshirts with the logo on it, Riki had a sweatshirt under his blazer, and Sunoo was wearing a long sleeve under a sweater vest and jeans.
Sunoo suddenly stopped in front of one of the lockers; Riki almost ran into him. He opened it with ease.
“Is this your locker, Sunoo?” Jungwon asked.
“Nah. This is our friend K’s.” Sunoo pulled a hoodie out of the locker. “This may be a bit big because he’s taller than all of us, but I think it’ll be cute on you. The bathroom’s right over there.”
Jungwon entered one of the stalls and discarded his blazer and button up and slipped the hoodie on. It was definitely big. It covered his butt and gave him sweater paws. He walked out of the bathroom and handed his clothes to Jake to shove back in K’s locker. Sunoo approved of the new look. Jungwon missed how Heeseung looked at him and Riki’s blush.
Jungwon and Heeseung had their first class together so they walked there together after splitting from the other three. They were just chatting on the way. “Just so you know,” Heeseung started, “you are now never getting away from us.” He said it so casually.
“...What?”
“Sunoo gave you clothing. He’s claimed you and now you are adopted into our friend group. There’s no way out.” They walked into the classroom and sat down next to the wall opposite to the door.
“What if I just don’t want to or run away?”
“You can try but he already found your Instagram and Snapchat.” Jungwon opened his phone and saw two notifications confirming what Heeseung just said. “Also, who else are you gonna go to?” Heeseung had a point.
“Well, if I’m gonna be a part of the friend group I need to know who Jake likes so I can tease him about it.”
Heeseung looked impressed. “I like the way you think. His name is Park Sunghoon and, well, it’d be hard to find a person at this school that hasn’t had a crush on him. Oh, there he is now.” Heeseung pointed towards the door as a tall boy was walking through. Jungwon turned and actually gasped. The most ethereal human being was entering the classroom. He was tall and had long legs, broad shoulders, and porcelain skin. Jungwon could wax poetic about Sunghoon's side profile. He didn’t know how long he was staring for.
“... won. Dude.” Heeseung was waving a hand in his face.
“Sorry, what?”
“So Sunghoon got another one, eh. How does he do it?" Heeseung shook his head while smirking slightly.
Jungwon blushed. "Well you said it'd be hard to find someone who hasn't liked him, so have you?"
It was now Heeseung's turn to blush."I mean, yeah but it ended a bit differently than other people's crushes on him."
"Really? How so?"
"That's a story for another time, Won." Heeseung ruffled the others' hair, "Now we've gotta listen to Mr. Jeon."

Heeseung decided to walk Jungwon to his next class and Jungwon had another question during that walk. "Is there anyone else I should look out for? Like crush wise or other."
Heeseung thought for a second, "There's Ahn Jiseong, she's so fucking annoying and oh, Park Jay, Sunghoon's best friend. It's not that he's annoying or bad or anything, he's just also hot." he chuckled, "Look, he's in your class." Heeseung pointed at, yet another, hot guy. He had the sharpest jaw Jungwon had ever seen in his entire life and an undercut. He seemed to be wearing a blazer with the school emblem on it but it looked high quality, like Jay had it custom made. “Welp, this is where I leave you. Have fuuun.” And with that, Heeseung was gone.
Jungwon chose a seat towards the back of the room. It happened to be where he could stare at Jay very easily. That may have not been the best idea because he happened to make direct eye contact with said “hot boy”. Jay had very intense eyes. They held each other's gaze for a moment then Jay smirked and turned around. Jungwon short circuited after that small interaction and ended up not listening to the entire lesson.
He snapped out of it when the bell rang and everyone started packing up. But just as he got up to leave, someone blocked his path. Jungwon looked up, about to say something then faltered because he was looking into the stunning face of Park Jay. He grinned.
“Hey, I’m Jay!” He stuck his hand out and Jungwon shook it.
Jungwon somehow found his voice. “I’m Jungwon. Nice to meet you.”
“You’re new right?”
“Yeah, actually. How’d you know?” Jungwon was slightly wary of the answer.
“Oh, you know, I would’ve remembered a cute face like yours had I seen it before.” Jay smirked and then walked off, leaving Jungwon in a stupor. He again had to snap out of it and almost sprint to his next class.
For the second time that day Jungwon didn’t pay attention in class. He was too busy thinking of all of the insanely attractive boys he'd met in the span of a few hours. First it was Heeseung who is wildly attractive, then Jake who is handsome as fuck, Sunoo who is insanely pretty, the stunning face of Riki, to Jay who is hot as hell, and finally to Sunghoon who is just drop dead gorgeous. There is no reason for all of them to be that way. And for Jay to just start flirting with him. That was not okay; His little heart couldn’t take all that.

Jungwon had one more class that he actually paid attention in and then went to lunch. After getting his food he searched for a place to sit. That search didn’t last long because he soon felt an arm around his shoulder, tugging him towards one of the tables. Jungwon looked up to see a slightly boxy smile that belonged to Riki. Jungwon smiled back and allowed himself to be led to the table with their other three friends.
“I see Riki’s mission of collecting you was successful.” Sunoo said cheerily when the pair arrived.
“Yep, you saved me from the embarrassment of eating alone. Thanks.”
Riki winked at Jungwon, “Anytime, babes.” Jungwon quickly looked away from the other.
“Ah, just ignore him, Wonnie. He flirts with all of us.” Jake interjects.
“That's because I’m in love with all of you.” Riki said very seriously.
“Uh huh and I’m straight.” Heeseung giggled, the others following soon after. Jungwon noticed that Riki’s smile didn’t quite reach his eyes.
“Wait, you aren’t straight?” Jungwon was, for the ninth time that day, confused.
“Oh honey, none of us are. And I know you aren’t either, I saw your reactions to both Sunghoon and Jay.” said Heeseung, “I’m queer, Sunoo’s gay, and Jake and Riki are bi.”
“You are right there. I’m gay also.”
“Dude you should’ve seen him gaping at Sunghoon when he walked in our classroom. I swear to god I saw a fly go into his mouth.”
Jungwon hit Heeseung’s arm. “Shut up.”
The group all began laughing at them. Then they fell into a natural conversation. Jungwon was happy that he found a place. He just hoped he didn’t have to move again.

The rest of the day went really well for Jungwon. He had one class with both Jake and Riki, one with Sunoo and RIki, another one with just Sunoo, and the last one they had all together.
Jungwon was excited to tell his mom about his day and that he actually made friends, but then he saw the note from her on the table telling him she wouldn’t be back until late. He sighed, slightly disappointed. He knew his mom worked hard, he just wanted her around sometimes.
The kids had leftovers for dinner and Jungwon put the twins to bed. Then he went to bed, himself. For the first time in a long time, he was excited to go to school.
