Work Text:
A young girl in armor ran through a damp forest in the middle of a great storm. Past the ebony roses, past the black swallowtail, between the barren trees of late autumn. She came across a dark stone building. Walking inside she spotted someone, someone she realized was the person she was looking for all along. So there the hero was face to face with her worst enemy, if she failed now it was over. This was her first time seeing her enemy's face, it was different than she had expected, first of all, they were a woman, secondly, she was surprisingly beautiful, pale skin with dark hair and navy eyes, tall too. Her outfit consisted of a long black dress with dark blue details, the thing about her that stood out the most however, was a red crystal pendant which radiated magic. The hero quickly realized that pendant, that is the key she was looking for.
“Why, I don’t think I invited you hero,” the witch said.
“Well, I never asked,” the girl replied, “However on the topic of asking I do have 1 question.”
“Ask away, it’s not like there will be any time to ask later.”
“Why?”
“What?”
“Why do you want to destroy everything!?”
“... easy, the world is so rotten that it’s beyond redemption.”
“But aren’t you just as bad?”
“Well, when I’m done I’ll be gone too, right?”
“Give. Me. The. Necklace.”
“No, I don’t think I will.”
The witch summoned her staff, a long black pole with blue details and a beautiful butterfly pattern carved into the charcoal colored wood, and lunged. The hero parried the long stick and attempted to counter when the witch danced to the side. She then used her staff to push away the hero’s sword and pulled it back up knocking the hero down. The young hero summoned her strength and cast a spell to knock the witch away but it was deflected by a magic barrier.
“You will not get in my way,” the witch sneers.
She casts a spell binding the hero to the floor and walks to the center of the building. She begins to cast a spell.
“See you on the other side,” She vanishes.
As the spell binding the hero to the floor begins to disappear, the hero panics. Rushing over to where the witch was the looks around for any sign of the taller woman. She has neither the time, skills, nor the energy to follow the witch. Frantically looking around her desperation growing with every second that passes. The ground begins to shake and crack as the hero starts screaming. Suddenly, everything goes white.

…..
The silence was deafening.

A young armor clad girl is on her knees in a blank, white, void. In front of her is a woman in her thirties. Golden hair draped down her back covering a pale dress.
“...I failed,” the young girl speaks.
“You did,” said the older one, “and there is nothing I can do to make you feel better.”
“Everything is… gone,”
“... Yes, there was nothing you could do to stop it, my only regret was that I couldn’t be there to help you.”
“Is there anything I could do to fix it?”
“All you can do now is accept the truth.”
“I know you said you couldn’t make me feel any better but do you know anything that can?”
“..... You cry.” the older lady told the younger one.
In a blank white void two sisters kneeled holding each other tightly. Loud sobs were the only thing that could be heard as they both faded into the blinding abyss. And nothing was left.
