Is this Fate?

Summary:

Shouto Todoroki was in a daze, he was whirled into an auction to buy an omega. His father forced him to go to the event, saying that if he was going to be king, he’d need to have children to continue the bloodline. Shouto was not a romantic, but he believed that love should be from mutual interest, although he’d never felt any romantic interests toward anyone. Or maybe it was because he was shielded from the outside world at a young age, his father training him to be the Sovereign of his future kingdom.

or: Shouto Todoroki buys omega Bakugou… and it’s a kingdom au. That’s basically everything summarized.

Chapter 1: The Beginning

Notes:

Heya! Thanks for reading, this is my first time writing a fic, like about anything.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

He blinked lazily, awakening from his slumber. What the fuck? Bakugou Katsuki couldn’t move, he was tied up and gagged. He could hear the movement of people outside the box he was in. He thrashed around, trying to make as much noise as possible with his body, knocking the wooden walls around him. It seemed that he was in a crate. Suddenly the movement stopped and he could hear the faint murmuring of the people outside. He moved around again, trying to listen in on the murmuring. All he could pick up was omega, sedate and again.

He sat there silent again, trying to figure out what was happening. Omega, they were talking about him, and sedate, that probably explains why he was knocked out cold. Ah, that’s right. He was kidnapped when his town was ransacked and looted by mercenaries. They’re going to sell me

He could still recall the day it happened. There was panic all over the town, he didn’t notice at first, because there was always screaming outside his bedroom door. And he couldn’t exit his room to check what was happening because his mother locked him inside the day she learned he was an omega.

-

He could suddenly hear the screaming of his mother again, probably yelling at some servant, but it was different this time, she sounded like she was afraid. Then there was silence, followed by heavy footsteps up the stairway. This alerted Bakugou, this was different, who was coming up? He’s never heard footsteps like this, and there was nothing for his mother to be afraid of. But he had nowhere to hide, he could not escape either, his mother made sure of that.

The footsteps stopped at his door, his heart dropped. He scrambled around, trying to hide underneath his bed. They were trying to open his door, they knew he was in here. All he could hear was his heart pounding, his body filled with unneeded adrenaline. He needed to think, why were they here? He would’ve snorted at himself if it weren’t for the situation he was in, it was obvious. They were going to take Bakugou and sell him to some rich alpha. He’d heard of people selling and trading omegas, they’d even set up events to sell omegas that had rapidly become popular over the years. Also partially why the old hag locked him up in his room.

He looked around his floor, trying to find an object to defend himself with. He picked up a heavy book, to try to somehow magically injure them. But he knew that he wouldn’t escape being captured, a book wouldn’t help him. He knew there were multiple people coming to get him, he was outnumbered, and probably outstengthed. Then his bedroom door collapsed, being broken in half, with splinters falling onto the floor, the noise made him jump in shock.

He looked up to see looming figures, staring down at him. He stood up, ready to bash their heads in with a book, a fucking book.

“You bastards, you think you’re so high and mighty huh?! Just because I’m a fucking ome—“ They wasted no time trying to capture him as one of them immobilized him quickly using his arm and wrapping it around his face, stunning him and making him drop his book with a thud. He thrashed around trying to hit them, using his legs and trying to free himself from the guy’s grip. It was no use, the guy’s got a death grip on him. Shit, these guys are professionals. He’d heard of them from the freak stories his mother told him. He didn’t bother trying to listen in, she was just trying to scare Bakugou from escaping. The captures were meticulously planned and they knew everything from weeks of spying on their victims.

One of them walked towards him with a syringe in his hands. And after a while of struggling to get it on Bakugou, he injected it into the omega’s neck. Bakugou tried hitting him, but it was no use, his muscles started to relax and his vision started spinning. His mind was in jumbles and all he could think about was escape.

-

It sounds fucking stupid looking back on it. There was no point in trying, they were probably ready, they even knew where his room was, or maybe it was his pheromones he released during the scare of the moment. It didn’t matter now, all he could do is try to escape. He kicked the shitty box he was in, trying to make as much noise as possible through his gag. Then he went quiet, it probably isn’t good to make noise around his kidnappers. Now that he thinks about it, the abductors will probably sedate him again, he couldn’t do anything, his entire body was tied and he was gagged.

He was a sitting duck, waiting for his captors to sedate him again. He could think of escape when he was bought by some creepy alpha, now all he could do was wait. Maybe he wouldn’t even be bought at all, he wasn’t particularly popular with any suitors, they only wanted him because he was an omega. He was muscular and well-built, a far cry from the ideal omega, small and demure. He was raised to be an alpha by his mother before he was locked in his room.

He could hear footsteps coming towards his crate, they opened the top. They held a syringe and injected it in him again. The world spun around and his vision went blank

He objected his father’s decision of buying an omega, he thought it was cruel to sell them around like objects. But his father managed to convince him, saying that they would not treat the omega, if he was to buy one anyways, cruelly. Giving them a safe and comfortable life, even possibly saving them from a bad buyer. If he would go by that logic, Shoto would’ve bought all of them, but his father objected saying that he could only buy one. Not like he was going to buy multiple anyways, he was repulsed by it.

He was given a mask and a hood, hiding his identity. The workers had handed him a small box, telling him to open when stated, he could smell pheromones coming from the box, he was tempted to open it and figure out what was inside. But he was directed to a seat soon after, the amphitheater was packed full of people with masks. Some had decorated them for the occasion. There was a buzz in the air, with people talking to each other.

The lights abruptly went off and the talking came to a stop. A tall man walked onto the stage, his footsteps echoing throughout the theater, a light following him as he walked towards a podium. He stepped onto a podium and cleared his voice, adding on a moment of silence for dramatic effect.

“Ahem! Welcome ladies and gentlemen, I know you’ve been waiting this whole year for this event, so without further ado, I welcome you to the annual omega auctionings!” The room erupted in applause, with some people even cheering, Shouto stayed motionless, continuing on watching the host as he takes out a box, similar to the one Shouto got. “You may have noticed the little box we’ve given you, it contains your bidder paddle and a pheromone sample of each omega we’ll be selling here today on a handkerchief with labeled numbers. We’ve also included a pamphlet that includes frequently asked questions.”

The host continued to go on, talking about sponsors and other trivial things. He opened the box, placing the paddle on his lap. He was hit with the smell of burnt sugar, it was so strong that it drowned out all the other scents. The handkerchiefs were all in a small compartment, neatly wrapped up. He pulled out the one that smelt like burnt sugar. He unfolded it, taking it up to his face and inhaling the scent. It was so compelling, almost as if it was made for him. The handkerchief was smooth to the touch with the number seven sewed onto it. A lot of his attention was directed at the handkerchief, his fingers traced the seven stitched onto it, occasionally taking it up to his face to smell.

The people around him were in bidding wars for an omega when an outrageous bid made it come to a full stop. The host, hitting his gavel down to end the bid. The omega was then whisked away, and another one was transported on stage. Todoroki’s eyes shot up, looking up. There he was, the one that smelled like burnt sugar, he felt electricity go down his spine.

His eyes were entrapped, there he was on the stage.

Notes:

I looked up how much does a human cost, I’m probably on some watchlist now.

I had a hard time writing Todoroki so he might be ooc, sorry! I don’t have the plot mapped out, but I have a rough idea of what’s going to happen. If you have any suggestions please let me know! Thanks for reading :)
