Pokémon Ranger: Melody of the Sea

Summary:

They should have known something strange was at work when an unconscious girl washed up on the shores of the Pokémon Ranger school. The girl had no inkling of who she was or why she was in the water, to begin with. All the memoryless girl knew was that her name was Kate Sapphire.

The girl was young, maybe 16, and with no family or friends in sight, the principle couldn't possibly leave her to fend for herself. So, he does the only thing he could do in such a dire situation: he signs her up for classes a wee bit late.

Alongside her new friends, Keith Ruby and Rhythmi Gold, the strange girl takes on the adventure of a lifetime as an unspeakable darkness enters Almia and shakes the region to its very core. Can Kate and her friends stop the darkness threatening to destroy the land and will she ever learn just who… or what… she truly is? Find out in Pokemon Ranger: Melody of the Sea.

Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

An elderly couple sat next to each other on an old porch swing, silently watching three children of varying ages chasing and playing with Pokémon. The old couple shared a loving and knowing smile as if they were able to speak with only their eyes. It was the kind of smile only old souls could have while watching the young frolic about.

The old couple watched as the two young boys and a little girl came running at them at full speed.

"Grandmother, Grandfather!" The three children shouted, "We're bored! Tell us a story! Tell us a story!"

The old woman's voice was soft and kind. It was worn down with age. "Okay, okay, children, circle 'round, circle 'round. How about we tell you my favorite story…" She glances at her husband who gives her a toothy grin.

"Oh yes, yes. Our favorite story." The elder man now spoke his voice also worn, but strong nonetheless. He held his elderly wife's hand and smiled at her.

The children all scurried into position on the floor in front of them bouncing in anticipation for the much-awaited storytime.

"Now... Where should we start darling?" The old woman smiled.

"I say the prophecy." He laughed.

"'One day a maiden,

Will wash up on sand,

To protect the world from evils hand.

Manaphy, the prince of the sea,

Will lead the maiden on their way.

To protect and save a world unseen.

A sacred secret they shall hide,

Part man, part fish on the inside.

Save the home they left behind,

Save the home they found while lost,

Stop the darkness shrouded by,

A false light of hope and peace,

Find a lunar wing of sorts,

Stop the nightmare.

Save the world.'"
