In Which Everything Goes Wonderfully Wrong

Summary:

While Eve loves her best friends Peter and Ned, they have zero concept of being able to translate over ideas from day-dreams to reality. Foolishly, she lets them convince her to try one of their plans as they head to Europe for a school trip. Everything goes downhill, but somehow ends up working?

Chapter 1: you suck,

Chapter Text

❝ you suck less than most people ❞

'I regret everything', the thought loops through Eve's mind as she stares out the cafeteria window.

"Okay, so i think that's everything, let's go over it one more time. Eve, are you listening?" Peter finishes, looking into the eyes of the girl opposite him.

"Eve? Eve?!" A shake to her shoulders jolts her out of her thinking and back into the conversation. mumbling and stuttering, she manages to let out a sentence and starts to engage herself with the two dorks she befriended.

"Step no. 1: You gotta sit next to her on the plane, we can sort that out, leave it to us" Peter starts, referring to Ned and himself as 'us'.

"Step no. 2: You'll pull out this dual headphone adapter and watch movies together." Ned passes a dual headphone adapter across the lunch table.

"Step no. 3: When we get to Venice, they're famous for making things out of glass right? You could get her something nice. Girls like that, right?" Ned continues.

"Would they make a black dahlia necklace?" Eve wonders aloud, "You know, her favourite flower and the murderer."

Ned and Peter light up, "Perfect! Flowers and something kinda creepy because that's how MJ is!" exclaims Peter.

"Step no. 4: When we go to Paris, take her to the top of the Eiffel Tower, give her the necklace." Ned says, motioning with his hands the height of the Eiffel Tower and the giving of the glass jewel.

"Step no. 5: Final one, tell her how you feel." Peter explains, "It'll go fine, we've seen how you're the only person she doesn't speak sarcastically to, and the amount of time she spends staring at you."

"Actually no, step no. 6: hopefully she tells me that she feels the same and doesn't say that she's straight. Otherwise I'm gonna die of embarrassment," Eve slides down in her chair until she's nearly fallen off.

"Hey losers, Eve, whatchu talking about?" MJ appears out of nowhere, or so it seems to the three oblivious friends, resulting in Eve trying to sit up quickly, bumping her head on the desk, and whining in pain.

"Plans. For the trip. Yep, definitl-" Peter starts before Ned interjects.

"For collecting tiny spoons, Eve loves collecting them. So when we're in Europe she's gonna collect the .. tiny ..spoons," he trails off towards the end.

After collecting herself, Eve nods along, "Yep, collecting tiny spoons."

"Like grandma spoons?" MJ questions, raising an eyebrow.

"I mean, actually, just tiny anything, not just spoons, of course not just spoons. I love tiny things, anything in a small form. Man, If I knew superheros, which I don't, definitely don't, I would want to know Ant-Man. Imagine being able to make anything you want mini at any time." Eve starts to ramble, about how cute tiny things are, that miniaturised version are the best versions, the boys nodding along.

"Ok.. then.." MJ replies awkwardly, feeling kind-of left out by the wavelength, albeit a weird wavelength, that the three of them seem to be on. She takes her place, a seat away from the one next to Eve. Pulling out her sketchbook and pencils, she draws, sneaks glances at Eve occasionally, and avoids conversation until lunch period is over, unaware of the reciprocating gazes from the other girl the entire time.
