Work Text:
He was going to kill his brother.
Fratricide first thing in the goddamn morning, and only fratricide could calm his rage.
The mini man had woken him up at 7 am, on a Sunday. Which on its own was already passible of third degree murder.
Not only had that chicken nugget of a brother woken up at an ungodly hour on a weekend; the miniature had done it to show him the last update of the F-game.
The only worthy sentence would be to kill him, resuscitate him, kill him again, end himself, then kill that chicken nugget in whatever after life that might be.
Jon had already spend more than 50 dollars in this stupid battle royal game, last time he checked, and still put 10 bucks in it every now and then. Kon was not willing to fucking calculate how much money was burned on this free-to-play’s altar.
He felt tired, so truly tired. He’d spend the night out with Tim tailing whichever mob, gang or whatever that was, before whacking them in the face after a few hours. The things you do for friendship.
He didn’t understand how the bats could go at it every night, maintain their jobs, diverse engagements and studies while still doing that media shit show they’re so loved for.
Kon swore that the whole family were vampires powered by the dread and terror of Gotham’s wicked and corrupted. And on that very Gothamite™ brand of memes, apparently.
Point being, that as much of a copy of the man of steel he was supposed to be; he still was a kinda unstable half-kryptonian whose body was still adjusting to the powers earth’s sun gave him.
And over all he was six. He didn’t care about his biological age, he didn’t care about his mental one, and he didn’t care that he could pass for a 20 years old already. Chronologically he was six and he was going to own it!
Six years olds need a ton of sleep and so does he!
As far as he disliked being dragged to the living room, Jon wouldn’t allow him to sleep and he was awake now so no more bliss from the death demo.
The Lane-Kent house just didn’t feel like home. He didn’t belong here, not the same way he did at Hawaii or Mount Justice. Oh, definitively didn’t feel like a stranger, cause he isn’t.
His relationship with Clark is…complicated. His relationship with Lois was great! The woman was such an amazing person, it felt good to have a strong feminine role model that was normal. Wait, was she? Then Kon remembered that being normal was not the same as being ordinary.
Lois was like a cool aunt, and he loved being part of her family.
So it felt more like staying at a relative, not home but welcoming nonetheless.
But Jon; he was Kon’s baby brother. He didn’t care about the semantics that could be argued about him being Clark’s child or not and that Jon could be considered the first born. Wait, for Jon to have existed longer than him doesn’t feel factually corr…
What was he thinking about? His mind got blank for a second. Ah yes; the ray of sunshine known as Jon Lane-Kent is his little brother. And he is proud and loves him terribly.
He first thought that maybe all younger siblings were precious, until he met Damian Wayne that is, unless he was the exception that proves the rule.
His little brother was a big part of his world, he couldn’t possibly stay mad at him; even more for something so little as a few hours of sleep.
He was sure as hell not about to degrade one his brother’s hobbies. Kon knew that he had some issues; it would have been a miracle if he didn’t: getting thrown out of the lab in the world as a super teen heroing with parents that ignored him and gave him nothing but a terrible legacy. Explaining all to a therapist would probably give them a stroke.
Not that he could, talking to a mind witch would without outing himself as a hero would be utterly useless. So he educated himself about how to help and deal with it himself.
Kon didn’t want any of that for his sibling, he didn’t want it for anybody, but the idea that he could cause any insecurities or doubts for Jon just broke his heart.
Chicken nugget looks so happy.
Jon is just rambling about every little detail of the new content, all shiny eyes with the widest of smiles, and Kon just absorbs the information. He still wants to punch some of the designs.
“Can you show me that dance again?”
Kon will be a positive force in his brother’s life.
