An Interview With Bruce Wayne and his Children
(it's pretty much a Batman fanfic)

This past weekend I had the honor to speak to Gothamโs one and only Bruce Wayne during his charity fundraiser at W.E. Tower. First and foremost I would like to thank Mr. Wayne for his time and for the good he has done for our city. His most recent event was to support the rebuilding of the hospital owned by his surgeon late father after it fell in effect of the earthquake. This new hospital will be staying in the family and will have many options available for Gothamโs lower class and those with terminal illnesses left with few options. Bruce announced tonight the building will be renamed Thomas & Martha Wayne Memorial Medical.
Alongside their now forty-three year old father, three of Wayneโs children attended the event. Seventeen year old Tim Drake-Wayne was the first to be spotted. He is Wayne Enterprises co-CEO and to quote his adoptive father and business partner we are, โVery proud of his work and his sharp mind.โ Despite the teenโs emancipation he seems to be very close with his father and we are happy to see them work together so smoothly. The next Wayne child I saw was the familyโs youngest, Damian Wayne. The prim and proper eleven year old was a hit among all attendees of the charity. Damian did not stay long with his father, as he was seemingly overwhelmed by the party. He was driven home by his brother Tim once they had finished socializing briefly after dark. The last sibling I had the pleasure of meeting was the familyโs newest edition, Duke Thomas. The fifteen year old was officially adopted into the Wayne family last month. Duke says he is, โVery happy in my new home,โ then looked his father in the eye and stated, โItโs nice to be able to annoy rich guys on Twitter, B.โ I donโt know about you, but I have to agree. When I asked Duke his opinion on his new family he promptly said, โTim is capable of murder but he has self-esteem issues and a caffiene dependency, and I love Alfred, heโs basically my grandfather,โ before his father insited he meet other associates.
Bruce was very excited to speak about his family, and quickly provided pictures and videos of them. He considers the familyโs butler, Alfred Pennyworth, to be quite basically a father to him. In total Wayne has six legal children. This is including his late son Jason Todd that all the family members insist will forever and always be a part of the family, even though only Wayne himself and the eldest, Richard Grayson, had the opportunity to know him. Richard โDickโ Grayson was the first to be adopted. The now twenty-six year old has moved on to Blรผdhaven where he is working in law enforcement. Bruce would like to acknowledge all of his hard work and is, โVery proud of the man he has become and all of the people he is helping with his career and his volunteer work.โ Bruce continued to say, โIโm grateful for all of the support I receive from him, whether itโs babysitting or just a nice conversation. He has been with me for about fourteen years and while not everyone of them has been exactly blissful, I love my son very much." Bruceโs second child was Jason Todd. He only spoke of him briefly, as Iโm sure he did not want to revisit painful memories. Wayne gave me this statement, โI will miss him everyday. I got him when he was only eleven, then lost him in the accident only four years later. He is still my son and I love him very much. He was the reason I could now say children, I could introduce my sons. To this day his love for theater and classic literature stays with me, as does his passion against crime. In his memory, and my parents, I donate to several Anti-Gun Violence charities annually.โ Wayneโs words were very touching and I thank him for sharing a glimpse into his normally closed off personal life. The one and only Wayne daughter is now twenty years old and thriving. She is a trained ballet dancer and greatly enjoys spending time with her adoptive siblings. According to her father she is โvery protectiveโ over her younger siblings and is an amazing big sister. He would like to remind the public that she is mute around most but immediate family, so yelling your questions or excessively repeating them will not make her able to answer them verbally. In Bruceโs own words, โI love her very much. I love being able to say I have a daughter, especially one as ambitious and kind-hearted as her. She is definitely the angel of the family. Sorry Duke.โ Bruce had plenty of examples of โCassieโsโ finest moments, but my personal favorite was her slapping Lex Luthor across the face for making a crude comment about both her Chinese heritage and body towards her, after quickly insulting her younger brother Damian for being of Chinese and Arab descent. Bruce was going to interfere but ended up on the ground laughing at the hand print mark left on Luthorโs face. (Which gratefully bruised and stayed with him for a fair amount of time.) Once away from his three youngest he had a lot more to say about them, and plenty more embarrassing photos to show. Wayne made it clear he is not only just proud of Timโs accomplishments he wants to be inspired to be a better and even more charitable businessman and father. Bruce wants us all to know, โTimmy is the smartest kidโฆhell heโs the brightest person I've ever met. The fact heโs my kid and co-CEO? Even better. He could do whatever he wants in life, and as long as heโs prepared to take action and will be safe, I have no intentions to stop himโฆHeโs smarter than me, weโll all be working for Tim someday. Tim has so many thoughts and theories, whatever his future may hold I just hope to be a part of it. Despite Duke being the newest Wayne sibling, Bruce has many photos of him. He's done his best to document every moment, and to find childhood pictures of Duke. Gotham has to admit it, the man we once thought to be a playboy is now forever a proud and tired dad. None of us at ๐๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐๐ฐ๐ต๐ฉ๐ข๐ฎ ๐๐ถ๐จ๐ญ๐ฆ can say we mind the change. I asked how Duke reacted to his new environment and Wayne responded, โFor Duke it was definitely an adjustment at first. He moved from some especially dark parts of Gotham into the manor...I did my best to make sure everyone was welcoming, but I donโt like to speak on behalf of my childrenโฆTheyโre independent and I donโt need Tim to attack me on Twitter anymore this weekโฆThe kids all joke that I collect orphans like Pokemon, so they had no issue with another sibling. Last but as we certainly all know not least, is the youngest child, Damian. No one in Gotham knew our favorite celebrity had a biological child, not until he was introduced as such during an interview last year. Damian is a โfieryโ child, as his father put it, โHe has a lot of passion for his interests, and is very academically gifted. He may be a pre-teen but he is insisting I allow him to take very advanced coursesโฆHe is very kind to animals, if the zoo Iโve unwillingly turned my home into means anythingโฆIโm very proud of his art and I have no doubt he could turn that into a career if he wishes to. He understandably does not enjoy the constant spotlight people wish to put him under, but I would never throw him into a situation he isnโt ready for. I love Damian very much, no matter how โviolentโ many publishers wrongly make him out to be, heโs the baby of the family.โ Damian is obviously very lucky to be blessed with his father, and I would love to see his artwork! Wayne was sure to include this statement about his pseudo-father Mr. Pennyworth, โI would not be here today if it was not for that man. He raised me after my parents were taken from me and kept me from losing myself in grief. He never would have allowed fame to cloud my judgment of other people, but to use my wealth to help communities. He is very strong-willed and has proven to be the best help I could ask for with raising my kids." Bruce Wayne cannot deny his love for his family and how proud he is of them--especially because it was all he would talk about during our interview. I wish Wayne and all of his children luck in all of their endeavors to help Gotham. Thank you Bruce for taking in these children and being their much needed father.
