A Souls Beginning… And End

Summary:

The brief summary of the connection between the stories to be told of Soul and Her creations.

(Soul is life itself, the mind behind the universe that created the worlds and realms.)

Work Text:

This character, that had only done what they believed was right, melted the heart of life itself and was then given subtle magic for the rest of their short lifetime.

Flowers begin to spring from the ground wherever they walk. Their paths are always clear. Animals bring gifts and bow to this chosen soul.

(This character has always made sure to clean the paths they walked, almost always stayed within their forest, cared for any and all plants in their vicinity, and cared and helped for all animals that they could. This character could have almost been a forest spirit at a glance, but they were not, they were only just a mortal with a heart of gold.)

The magic they were given honestly didn’t change their life all too much. They never really realized they had gained a following of flowers and animals and nature itself until their mate came along.

One smile grew a few flowers at their feet, but the first grin caused by their mate’s own smile filled the entire area with flowers. So much pure love and happiness in a single look brought happiness to nature and allowed the magic inside the character to bloom.

Their mate startled at the flowers now curling around their ankles when it first happened, but after looking back up to find character’s eyes positively glowing and smile full to the brim with uncontrolled joy, he couldn’t be surprised anymore. It just made sense, someone so full of love and joy couldn’t not be able to bring immediate life to the things around them. Character was one of a kind and their mate would never be able to believe this kind soul could choose him but they did and that’s all that it really comes down to. Character chooses their mate and their mate just as fiercely chooses them back. They’ll love and love and fill everywhere they go with that love (and flowers).

Then, when they create their own life and deliver them to the world, they’ll have little bundles of magic and blood. Children born with nature in their veins, and they’ll be just like their parents, loving, caring, and kind. They’ll be gentle yet fierce and incredibly protective. These children will go on to grow flowers just like their parents and seem capable of almost talking to animals of every kind. They and theirs and everyone down their bloodline will be blessed with magic (as long as they don’t purposefully hurt nature or go against the basic ideal of caring for the land you inhabit and making sure to leave the earth just as you found it or better).

So just from one kind soul begins a line of beings with magic. The magic does dull with every generation, but every generation takes any amount they have been gifted and uses it to the best of their ability.
They support the forests and meadows they choose to reside in. They help to heal any animal that comes to them for care, and they hope to bring a bit of light to their little area in the world.
And the few generations that retain the ability to grow flowers, they spend years of their life spreading fields of color to those that need it. They smile at the sun, the sky, the grass, the trees, they smile at all that brings them happiness and they especially smile at the things that fill them with love. They smile and show joy and create places of safety and color and a moment frozen in time.

Fields of flowers grown from the smiles full of unbridled love for the souls that connect to their own, those fields, they will never fade.
Centuries later when the magic is just barely flowing through their bloodline anymore, just small gifts of understanding animals and the plants around them, the flower fields given life through love will still be there.
There are probably only a dozen immortal fields, big and small, spread across the original lands of the bloodline. As centuries passed, nature has protected these fields and it’s grown harder and harder to find them, even if they were miles wide. But the bloodline can find them. It takes a bit of love and each other, but distant relatives of the original character can still walk these fields and find a safe haven hidden behind nature’s own defenses.

When a flower field is found by a relative, it’s said that the winds calm and all goes quiet within the field. Everything narrows down to just you and where your feet connect to the earth. Then you can just as suddenly look to all the flowers around you and your breath is stolen away as you feel whatever the one who created the field was feeling.

It is also said that some relatives, more empathetic souls or maybe old souls come back to live on the earth again, will find a field, settle down in it’s center, and feel. The rare relative will sit amongst the eternal flowers and, behind closed eyes, see the moments of the fields creation and almost every time it’s creator would visit. They’d see bright smiles and long hugs, chaste kisses and love making, little feet running through, laughter and tears. They’d see it all in a flash but it can feel like years as an entire lifetime shows behind their eyes. They’re given the gift of seeing one of their past relatives hidden lives and, always, they will walk away from the field thankful that nature has continued to care for the souls it had grown to love. They almost never go to see a field again after that experience but it’s to show respect to the soul kept alive within a field of flowers. It feels sort of wrong to interrupt the flowers as they relive their creation and life force, so the fields are mostly left alone and kept hidden and protected by nature.

And then as more and more centuries pass, the fields become entirely secluded and hidden from even the least diluted part of the bloodline. The fields fold back into the corners no one looks into and that’s where they stay for the rest of eternity, the flowers, the souls that helped create them, and nature itself keeping them safe until the end.

But there’s one creature that can stumble upon the fields. A creature that’s not locked to the land or the earth. A creature with wings and bloodlines older than the character that had created the first eternal flower field.

The Bird.

And souls can also be tricky little things. One body and then they’re done. Or they hop through a few different bodies and live a few lifetimes before they join the stars. Or, just maybe, they give life to the body they created in the beginning time and time again, a body that goes through changes over time but always has the original soul right there underneath.

And wouldn’t it just be the Cosmos’ plans to allow a soul immortality after centuries and millennia of going through thousands of lifetimes. It’d be just a bit too kind but after a thousand lifetimes with a soul that only grew kinder and softer and even more caring, the Cosmos couldn’t say no when the soul came through again.

So a soul woven with gold and magic and centuries of prayers is given a body for the final time. But this time is forever, a forever gifted by the entire Cosmos. And this soul’s mate won’t be far behind, born only minutes later. They’ll have to grow and figure themselves out, but as soon as they grow into their wings they’ll fly, find each other, and then fill not just nature but the Cosmos with their love and care.

The original flower fields will bloom anew as their origins lives again, and they will dance under the wind from great wings. Their creator will visit them again and remember each and every moment. Their creator will bring themselves, their mate, their love, and even more little feet. They’ll keep the flower fields going for eons and longer if they can. Their creator will build a home right in between all the fields and with careful care for centuries, they will fill in all the land with flowers until their home is surrounded with flowers for miles. Their home will be a beacon of life and love and safety. All are welcome and even allowed to stay. And all who visit are blessed with kindness and care from the moment they enter to the moment they leave. No one who enters will be neglected and all who stay will forever be cared for.

The flower field becomes a safe haven that will flourish until the Cosmos itself collapses. And it’s creator, a soul within infinite love, will be right there, and they’ll smile as the sun sets its final time and the night sky goes dark. Their creator will cradle their mate and children close and watch the Cosmos give its final goodbye. They will smile with tears in their eyes and whisper into the last seconds of life itself, against their lover’s tousled hair, “Love may not exist beyond life, but I’d do it for you. I’d create life again to be able to keep loving you.”
And their lover will look up into watery golden brown eyes with a smile just as powerful as their love’s, and respond with their final breath, “I know.”

Then the world will go blank. No fanfare. No special effects. Just the final breaths of life itself before it all…
