That's The Price

Summary:

Lalo believes that every soul has its price, and Saul Goodman only validates this.
--

The lawyer was a soft little doll in Lalo's eyes, playing dress up in those flashy suits and filled with artificial stuffing- pathetic and completely harmless. He reminded Lalo of the ragdolls he loved to stick pins in, or let his dog tear into pieces. And best of all, they were highly flammable.

Chapter Text

Saul Goodman wanted to be… well, a good man. Honestly he thought about this often, how he was going to change and be above all the desperate cons he always pulled. It was almost like planning to convert to a religion with how out of reach and divine it seemed. It just wasn't meant for him, he supposed, because life always steered him right back to that 'bad choice road'. Speaking of which, he was sure that's where Nacho was currently taking him.

Saul could feel himself start to sweat in the back of the car, eyeing the gun nestled between the passenger and driver's seat while they went to an unknown destination. He really believed that he and Nacho left on good terms, but the cartel member's features held no reassurance. He looked as serious and stone faced as usual, tired eyes for a tired soul. You could practically see the thick internal walls Nacho put on each day as if they were a jacket. Saul couldn't help but wonder what was the cause of it all, and he prayed he'd never come face to face with it.

As it turns out, Saul has never been all that lucky.

Saul finds himself standing in a dim garage, his first thoughts being along the lines of 'Holy shit, I'm about to get my knees bashed in with a tire iron'. But then he saw that man, working on a Monte Carlo and quite clearly the one holding all the power in the room. Nacho sat down as if to give him the stage, but the lawyer couldn't help from stealing the spotlight out of nervousness, the silence killing him. Saul knew this couldn't be good, remembering his last run-in with the cartel. He was quick to try and worm his way out of this imaginary punishment, defending himself. He didn't even know who the mustached man was, just spitting out words and hoping he could mash them together into a coherent argument.

I helped Nacho. I was good, I swear.

I'm useful and trustworthy.

You're Lalo, Tuco's cousin…? Ah, I see the resemblance.

Please don't kill me.

Oh, and how is your lovely abuelita?

Seriously, who the fuck is Lalo and why does he scare Saul so much? But even with this fear burrowing in his chest, he can't help but register just how attractive his potential downfall is. Saul has this man's undivided attention now that he's finally turned to him, and it gives the lawyer confusing butterflies in his stomach. He tried to focus on Lalo's words and nothing else.

The intensity Lalo held was so unique and gripping, quiet and yet demanding more attention than even Tuco could when he was yelling. Well maybe he wasn't exactly quiet, being more upbeat and talking as if he was trying to sell Saul something. It felt like such an ambush to the lawyer, a great day suddenly turning into one big panic attack. But as soon as Lalo told him his purpose, Saul could see a light at the end of the tunnel. Oh he was needed, thank god. And here he thought the cartel was cutting off loose ends.

Saul tried to think back on what he wanted, to be a good person, but the way Lalo looked at him made him hesitate. He tried to crawl his way out from under that stare as Lalo stood up, the movement somehow looking graceful.

"Come on, you're the guy for this." Lalo reassured, arms opened lightly.

It practically sounded like this was an honor, to be chosen by a Salamanca for a special job. As much as Saul loved a good pat on the back, the drug lord still rubbed him the wrong way.

"Going this way can get expensive..." Saul found himself saying.

The almost crestfallen look on Lalo's face didn't convey his true thoughts; he thought the notion was ridiculous. But he also sensed Saul withdrawing the closer and more personal he became, taking it into consideration. Just like with everyone else he wanted to use, Lalo observed and adapted to better suit the lawyer's needs. Saul couldn't help but relax a little when Lalo toned his enthusiasm down and sat in his chair again, leaning back comfortably.

"Yeah? How expensive…?" Lalo called his bluff.

Saul pretended to do the mental math before pulling a random number out of thin air, seven thousand nine hundred and twenty five dollars to be exact. Lalo glanced at Nacho as if to ask 'where did you find this guy?', before raising the stakes.

"Let's make it eight thousand." He said as he pulled the cash from his wallet.

Saul wasn't expecting pay day so soon, and he had to keep himself from audibly exhaling at the sight. He was too greedy for his own good, Lalo able to sense it a mile away and taking full advantage. He'd been hesitant- beating around the bush even though he clearly didn't want to do the job- but with money in hand he couldn't possibly say no. Lalo offered the cash to Saul, still sitting so the lawyer would be forced to come closer. Lalo looked at him and gave a smile, smaller and less flashy than his previous ones.

He was a Bolas spider sitting in a thick web, imitating a friendly call to lure his prey in. And Saul fell into this trap, though it's not like he would allow himself to walk away even if he wanted to.

Saul felt like this was the end of the nightmare- just make the deal and be on his way. He'd leave eight thousand dollars richer with new connections; influenced by the exact frequency Lalo was carefully sending out.

Don't think about it, just say yes.

But just as Saul's fingertips were about to touch the money, Lalo was pulling his hand away. The sparks of victory and building of relief within Saul instantly came toppling down, seeing the sudden change in demeanor. Lalo clicked his tongue lightly, a small 'tsk' as if in thought.

"... What?" Saul asked quietly, nerves evident as he feared the man was second guessing the agreement.

He felt disgusted with himself, but a part of him hoped Lalo was going to offer more.

"I don't know, Ignacio… Are you sure we can trust him?" Lalo asked, stroking his mustache in a way that almost would've been comical if not for what was at stake.

Nacho sat up a little straighter at that, glancing between Lalo and Saul for a moment.

"Yeah, he's solid." Nacho confirmed, "He'll keep his mouth shut."

He knew from personal experience that Saul was good at his job, even if he sometimes made things harder on himself. But Nacho was sure the cartel would eat away at Saul's bad decision making, if he wanted to survive anyways. It didn't matter though because Nacho had already assured Lalo with his own recounting of Tuco's story, him guessing the Salamanca just wanted to spook Saul. The lawyer in question just stood there awkwardly, not sure what to say.

Lalo tilted his head lightly, "Is that true, you'll keep your mouth shut...? Cause from what I've heard, you've got quite the mouth on you."

Saul felt his stomach sink at that, but his face reddened at Lalo's borderline purring tone. That was just his imagination, wasn't  it?

Saul was left wondering if Nacho told Lalo about the Kettlemens. Why the fuck did Saul always hurt himself like that, just trying to do the right thing?

"Yeah, I'll keep quiet. Remember, we have attorney-client privileges? As your lawyer, I can't tell anyone about this." Saul said, hands numbly at his sides now as if too afraid to move.

He was feeling a deep panic rising in his chest as he tried to keep eye contact with the other man, who didn't seem to blink often in tense situations. It finally broke when Lalo started looking him over, as if to size him up. Did he think Saul had a wire on or something? He wasn't the one who asked for this, so it felt unfair for Lalo to be this way.

"I'm not wearing a wire, ok? I didn't even know I was meeting you. I won't tell any-"

Lalo was able to silence Saul's nervous ramblings with a raise of his hand, signaling him to stop. That friendly smile was gone, replaced with a tense and serious expression as he watched Saul closely.

"I understand that… But are you loyal?"

That question sent Saul reeling for a moment, because he knew that distrust with the cartel could lead to very bad things. Right now he was nobody to them, it would be no great loss to kill him where he stood. Saul was quick to nod his head, trying to stuff down the rising fear.

"Of course!" He said, offering an unintentionally nervous chuckle.

Was it getting hot in here? … No, just him?

Lalo shrugged his shoulders lightly, saying, "Prove it."

He talked as if asking for proof of insurance while looking at Saul expectantly, who was standing frozen in his spot.

Prove it…? How the fuck was he supposed to do that?

"Uh… Sorry, but I'm not following you here." Saul said, trying his best not to sound like a lost child.

He didn't know what Lalo wanted from him anymore, but he prayed it wasn't something extreme.

"You know what an initiation is, don't you?" Lalo asked, unamused.

Saul's eyes widened slightly at that, "Woah wait, you're not-… You're not gonna make me kill someone, are you?"

The sudden laugh Lalo gave rattled through Saul like a shudder, sending his mind back into another fit of nerves.

"No no, nothing like that." Lalo said, acting like he'd been told a joke.

The thought of Saul taking a life seemed absolutely ludacris.

"Then what? What do you want from me?" Saul asked, scrambling for any kind of idea.

He would do just about anything, desperate to make the deal and get out of this place.

The drug lord leaned back more, and he parted his legs lightly to get more comfortable. He gave a subtle nod towards his lap before looking back up at Saul. But the lawyer still looked so lost, as if he wouldn't even let his mind go there.

Lalo gave this disappointed sigh; he thought Saul would've been smart enough to figure it out by now.

"Just tell me-"

"Get on your knees." Lalo finally said, deciding to help Saul connect the dots.

Saul stopped at that, looking at Lalo as if he'd lost his mind. Maybe he didn't hear him correctly or he misunderstood in some way, because there was no way Lalo just asked for what he thought he asked. Get on his knees… and then what; pledge his loyalty? Or worse?

Saul stammered for a moment, glancing at Nacho as if trying to ask for his help in the situation. But Nacho looked perturbed as well, no matter how much he tried to hide it. It seems Saul wasn't the only one caught off guard.

... This wasn't really happening, was it?

He couldn't help the small step back when Lalo shifted and asked, "What are you waiting for? I told you what you needed to do."

No this wasn't an initiation, this was more like lewd hazing. Saul let out a short breathy laugh, looking around the garage in disbelief as if he thought he was getting Punk'd. Any minute now a camera crew was going to reveal themselves and make a laughing stock out of him, which still seemed better than the reality of the situation. But the lawyer was a very unlucky man, because Lalo only eyed him with a calculating gaze. Maybe Saul would put up an initial fight- act offended and above it- but Lalo knew he would eventually say yes.

It was a simple yet effective method, causing tension and drastically imbalanced power before lulling the lawyer back into a false sense of security. He would be desperate to make sure the distrust never arose again, bending to Lalo's will to stay on good terms. If the drug lord being cheery intimidated Saul, he wouldn't stand a chance when he was pissed off.

"... You'll have to get closer, you know." Lalo said as he watched Saul's crisis unfold, digging for a cigarette as he wondered how much longer the man would stall.

Saul cleared his throat, voice small as he gestured between them with his hands, "Right. Uhm… Just… Just to be clear, you're asking for a sexual favor?"

Keyword: asking. That was it, no force or threats of violence towards the lawyer. Everything was still in Saul's hands as he could decline the deal at any moment and walk away without a scratch. But the promise of money and power- oh, that could really drive a desperate man to do very desperate things.

Lalo blew out smoke, expression completely straight as if he'd done this a million times before, "Yes."

Even as Saul felt disgusted, he caught his gaze going to the edge of Lalo's shirt as he leaned back in the chair, hungry for a glimpse of skin to peek out. The lawyer could barely keep still now with all the anxiety and sexual tension buzzing through him, producing an uneasy scoff. Why was this so damn conflicting?

"Look, I don't know what you've heard about me but I'm not-... I'm not some prostitute, I'm a lawyer for Christ sake. You can't pay me to do… that ." Saul couldn't even word Lalo's request.

Lalo tilted his head lightly, "You think I'd give you eight thousand dollars to suck my dick? ... You want to be a friend of the cartel, right? Well consider this the application fee."

And that is what we call a loophole, ladies and gentlemen- albeit a very precarious one since the lawyer would still leave feeling like a street walker. But the fact that Saul didn't run out of the garage like the devil was at his heels said enough, though he glanced at Nacho again with hesitation.

"... Here?" He asked with dread.

Lalo gave a soft sigh as he went to put the money back in his wallet, sporting a condecending tone, "You know, maybe you're not the guy for this. I'll just have Nacho drop you back off and get you another ice cream, yeah?"

Saul realized his window was closing and he panicked.

"Wait, I didn't say I wouldn't do it!" Saul quickly said before toning it down when Lalo stopped, "I'll do it, ok?"

He sounded defeated at the end, feeling ashamed as the words came out. Nacho had a hand rubbing his face, not even facing them anymore as he started to feel a queasy regret set in. Even with Tuco, Nacho had never seen a meeting derail quite like this before. And the tempered Salamanca was actually easier to wrangle back in from the dramatic, but he felt he had no chance with Lalo.

Did Nacho really have to be here for this? That was probably the most humiliating part so far, that and how unsurprised Lalo looked when Saul finally gave in. The man could see that Nacho was the biggest barrier here now, and so he decided to cut the lawyer some slack.

"Why don't you step outside, Nacho?" Lalo asked, though it obviously wasn't a question.

Nacho was quick to get the fuck out of there, and Saul found himself wishing to follow. But he already agreed to this so now he felt inclined to see it through, silently thankful for the lack of an audience.

Saul took the required steps forward before sinking to his knees, hands shaking as they hovered over Lalo's belt. The Salamanca looked and parted his legs a bit more, noting how Saul refused to let his gaze get even close to looking up at him.

Lalo was completely silent as he watched Saul between his legs, a smile forming around his cigarette once he caught the lawyer subconsciously licking his bottom lip. Saul was staring a bit more intently than intended, slowly unclasping Lalo's belt. There was no assistance in unbuttoning his pants and untucking the floral shirt, the job left completely to Saul as he finally caught a glimpse of Lalo's underwear.

Lalo wasn't even relatively excited by the looks of it; still soft in his jeans. The garage was so quiet that Saul's ears were softly ringing as the discomfort built. He still wouldn't look up, but he knew Lalo was watching him with such an intensity.

Saul bit his bottom lip and tilted his head down more as if to hide away, trying to obstruct Lalo's view of his face. If he cared, he didn't voice it yet, and instead allowed the lawyer to make himself comfortable first. With fearful gentleness, Saul pulled Lalo out from his underwear, and his face heated up at the size. He definitely had Saul beat when it came to length- and probably girth as well- but he also recognized Lalo was uncut.

Saul could feel his mouth start to water, but he attempted to stifle his compiling eagerness.

' Why the fuck do I want this? ' Saul wondered with disgust that felt more forced this time.

He tried to tell himself it was just his mind's natural response at feeling trapped; trying to act like this was normal and completely wanted. But he knew there was a reluctant attraction there from the start, and maybe Lalo had caught on somehow.

Saul finally started stroking but Lalo gave no signal that he was doing any good. The only thing that let Saul know it must be decent was the fact that Lalo's cock slowly began to fill and harden. The pace started off gentle and slow, as if the lawyer was afraid to hurt him.

He was embarrassed to admit that he became a bit entranced after a moment, giving full strokes and watching the foreskin pull back to reveal a slightly wet head. Lalo kept his patience for a while, just enjoying the moment filled with hesitant touches. But after a bit, he grew unsatisfied by the lack of wet warmth and a show.

"I didn't ask for a handjob, you know." Lalo said, and that was enough to snap Saul out of his trance.

"U-Uh yeah… Yeah, I know…" Saul mumbled, hesitantly removing a hand from Lalo's dick.

It settled on Lalo's thigh to help keep balance, though he felt the urge to run it across the man's toned abdomen instead. He left his other hand around the root, helping guide the thick member to his lips as he leaned forward more.

The Salamanca hadn't made a single noise or movement to show it felt good, and he really didn't think it would be anything impressive. Saul's tentative touches were pairing well with the man's power trip though, so there was that at least. Lalo expected this to be the sloppiest, clumsiest, and most pathetic blow job he'd ever receive- but as soon as Saul started on the tip, he realized the lawyer had actual experience.

Saul began by sucking on the head, tasting the bead of precum that hit his tongue. He rolled his tongue against the head as he gave firm strokes at Lalo's base.

A soft hum came from Saul's throat as he slowly took more in, and Lalo's silence finally broke at that.

He gave a surprised moan that trailed off into a light chuckle, "I think you've done this before..."

There was an apparent flush on Saul's face as he began to bob his head lightly, attempting to get Lalo off quick and painlessly. But the other man had different plans.

"Look at me." Lalo said, tilting Saul's head lightly.

Saul hesitated before he obeyed, and he actually found comfort in the fact that Lalo had some color to his face as well. It was just from arousal- not embarrassed or flustered- but it was good to know he was at least enjoying it. Lalo had planned to be terrifyingly silent and stoic the entire time, but it was proving difficult. And once he showed that ounce of enjoyment, Saul greedily ate it up and tried to provoke more.

If Saul was going to do this, he might as well make Lalo's toes curl in the process.

Within the next moment, Saul was bobbing his head faster as he kept his head tilted up for Lalo to watch. The man above him had an open smile, soft pants coming out while he raised a hand to rest it on Saul's cheek. The touch wasn't soft or loving though, it was nothing but possessive as he closely monitored every emotion and movement Saul produced. Either way, the hand on him was like an anchor; a promise that Lalo would keep his end of the bargain.

Now that he felt confident, Saul allowed himself to really work his magic. More noises were emitting from above him, along with mumbles of Spanish. He silently hoped he could bring Lalo to a quick satisfaction; maybe even humiliate him with it being premature. He had never sucked someone off so vigorously before, fueled by the imaginary scene of Lalo losing his collectiveness and spilling in a matter of minutes.

Maybe Lalo caught on, because dark ash was suddenly landing on Saul's face.

The lawyer flinched and almost spat Lalo's dick out, realizing Lalo was flicking cigarette ashes on him. Saul was caught off guard, though luckily most of it landed on his cheeks. He drew a sharp breath through his nose before a whine followed. The ash wasn't hot but it still hurt, irritating and burning his eyes to make them almost instantly water. He closed his eyes tightly as tears flushed the intrusion out, noticing he was beginning to tremble with a mix of shock and arousal.

"It's not a race, Saul." Lalo said, a smirk apparent as he noticed a bulge forming in the front of the lawyer's pants.

If Saul wanted quick revenge and an even swifter death, he'd bite Lalo's dick off without hesitation. But the mere thought made his stomach coil, both due to his need to follow through and the idea of what he would face afterwards.

So Saul kept sucking and stroking Lalo, but at a noticeably slower pace. He used the back of his hand to wipe a few tears away, which smeared the ash across his cheek. Saul furrowed his brows when Lalo moaned at this, and he knew he shouldn't be that surprised.

Saul had no clue what Lalo was into- but if this meeting was any indication, the lawyer didn't think he wanted to know.

The hand on Lalo's thigh began to grasp at his jeans, mostly Saul stopping himself from rubbing his own erection. Lalo was mumbling words again and he wasn't sure if they were praises or insults, but either way his body was responding with heat and lust. It felt like the heat was radiating off of him, eyes now glued to Lalo with a begging look in his eyes.

This got a light laugh out of Lalo, raising a brow in intrigue. With the hand on Saul's cheek, he pressed his thumb past his lips, as if to see how much he could fit into the lawyer's mouth.

"Yeah, he was right… You do have quite the mouth…" Lalo said thoughtfully, mostly to himself.

Saul let out a noise that could only be described as a plea, drool starting to freely roll down his chin as Lalo hooked his thumb. Pride be damned; Saul felt Lalo's dick sliding in and out of his mouth, but he wanted it somewhere else now.

Lalo only tisked and shook his head, "Don't get greedy on me, Saul. That wasn't part of the deal."

The amusement in his tone was evident, and he didn't even try to hide the smug look on his face. Saul wanted to curse Lalo- tell him it was his fault for this happening in the first place- but instead he continued to produce saliva and suck on whatever Lalo pressed into his mouth; be it his dick or his fingers.

"... Good, just like that…"

Saul whimpered and tensed, shifting his hips as he tried to stimulate himself by any move possible. He couldn't handle much more of this, feeling like he may burst at the seams if he was denied pleasure for any longer. Lalo could practically see the way Saul was debasing himself, any integrity dissolving in those deep blue eyes.

"... You want me to fuck you, don't you?" Lalo asked, as if he even needed to.

Everything he was doing to Saul; he did it because he knew the lawyer would let him. So when Saul nodded his head, Lalo wondered where the line could possibly be drawn.

"If you do your job, and you do it well, I'll give you a reward." Lalo said, hand holding Saul in place so he knew no response was needed.

Saul moaned around Lalo's cock, already eager to rush to the courthouse and meet with his new client. If he could pull this off, he'd not only get eight thousand dollars- but the best dick of his life too.

Jesus, Saul could tell he was getting swept away in a flood of fear and lust, but it was intoxicating. The lawyer tried to think back to what he really wanted- before Lalo had blindsided him- and it seemed so silly now. How could Saul be a good man?

Apparently all it took was a wad of cash and some calculated manipulation for Saul to be on his knees; whoring himself out to a powerful stranger of the cartel. There was just something about the hate and arousal mixing in the pit of his stomach, it didn't take much of it to erase Saul's better judgment.

The thumb in his mouth pulled away after a few more minutes, Lalo sliding his hand to the back of Saul's head. The lawyer took the cue and doubled down, relaxing his throat the best he could as he took Lalo to the root. He stifled a few gags, grateful the Salamanca didn't thrust up or move in any way. A few moments to adjust, and Saul was back to the same pace as before with Lalo deep in his throat.

Lalo groaned and pressed his heels into the floor, the flat of his palm turning into gripping the back of Saul's hair. The lawyer shivered when the deep throb came, followed by sudden shots of cum that quickly caused him to gag and desperately swallow. Lalo slowly released Saul's hair as he sucked a few more times, feeling him start to soften against his tongue.

Saul's entire body felt weak now, and he was pitching a horrendous tent in his pants. As much as he wanted to beg, he knew nothing good would come from it. Slowly pulling off and wiping his wet mouth on his sleeve, Saul watched Lalo calmly tuck himself away and catch his breath.

Saul began to register the deep ache in his knees as he stood up, quickly grabbing his suitcase to hide his slowly wilting erection. He felt dehumanized and dirty, though any regret threatening to bubble up was swiftly stamped out when Lalo handed him the wad of cash.

"Better get to work, then." Lalo said dismissively.

Either Lalo has lost some of his intensity, or Saul had gotten over it after such an intimate act- but he didn't feel as afraid of Lalo. He took the cash and nodded lightly, awkwardly making his way back to the car while Lalo went to retrieve Nacho.

Saul took a deep breath, knowing he had only a few minutes to calm himself before he was back out in front of the courthouse. He took a quick glance in the rearview mirror, licking his thumb before wiping away the remaining ash on his face.

When Lalo found Nacho smoking outside, he caught the look in his eyes but it only made him smile.

"What? You said he was easy." Lalo chuckled with apparent dark humor.

"... I didn't mean it like that." Nacho stated the obvious, though he knew it was pointless.

He felt nervous for the future, and not solely due to what he knew happened between them. The lawyer was officially in the game now, and he was starting off in deeper shit than even Nacho was. Obviously Saul didn't know the golden rule; once you're in, you're in.
