Chapter 1: Beyond Time and Space

Chapter Text

Welcome to my realm, located beyond time and space.

It is well that thou art here.

The feeling of weightlessness permeates through her.

For a moment, she wonders if she’s in a dream. She’s never been a lucid dreamer, but then again in a world of wonderful Pokémon, there was probably one that could make her be aware that she was in a dream. If they could eat her dreams, they most certainly could talk through her dreams after all.

But the darkness that she’s surrounded in isn’t the same as that familiar lull of sleep— no, this is something different. It’s almost like she’s floating in it, drifting along with the invisible currents, yet never drowning in the endless sea. Calm, yet slowly dragging her further away from wherever she had come from.

It’s almost comforting, and she almost wants to welcome the feeling—

Wait .

Her eyes open, and while the darkness still surrounds her, the realisation that she’s not lying in her own bed jolts her awake faster than her team would at the crack of dawn.

What in the Original One’s as

Just as she’s about to swear (not really, she could never bring herself to curse), her phone almost flies into her face. It was still in its original casing since she had recently bought it, after making it big at the—

She blinks. She bought her phone. With her own money. She got the money after making it big at the—

Where did the money come from again?

Shaking her head, she kicks around the darkness, almost flailing like a magikarp as she makes a grab for her phone. It’s of no use, however, as it flies, almost like it had a mind of its own, just out of reach.

It’s just as well, because light bursts into existence like fireworks in the night, and then whoa — because whoa is the only appropriate word she can think of — she comes face to face with the blinding figure. The light emanating from its body seems to pierce the darkness, not in the way that a flashlight would, but rather like the lighthouse in shecan’tremember does on foggy nights as it beams light towards the sea .

Light surrounds the figure as she looks at it, and even though this has to be the hands down most pants-shittingly scary moment in her life — only secondary to that moment on the mountain, when the red eyes jump out the scream the place where nothing makes sense remotely — it radiates a feeling of warmth. Of familiarity. Like she’s meeting an old friend.

Her phone glows for a moment as she reaches out for it, becoming a ball of light in her hands.

A voice emanates from somewhere in the darkness, seemingly surrounding her when she’s sure that the only one speaking is the figure before her.

…Dawn…

Light swirls around the figure, like planets around a sun except that the planets are really stars that radiate light , and it’s then that she finds a name at the tip of her tongue, one that is not her own. It’s like she’s awaking from a dream, that moment when the dream is so vivid that you remember details from it yet the details are scrambled when you consciously think about it.

Wait wait wait she can’t remember why can’t she remember—

…Seek out all Pokémon, and thou shalt find me once more…

Then the light flashes, spreading throughout the darkness before she can even ask what on earth is going on.

The last thing she sees are the clouds as she falls through them beneath the vast blue sky.
