Work Text:
Jin Guangyao smiled and nodded, keeping his expression pleasantly neutral as Sect Leader Yao droned on and on about fair use of trade routes and medicinal teas and — Jin Guangyao winced as he wrenched his mind back into the conversation — warts? How on earth had he gotten—
"Sect Leader Yao," a smooth voice interrupted. Jin Guangyao felt something relax in him at just the sound of it as he turned to look up a bit, taking in the lovely profile of Lan Xichen. "My apologies for interrupting," he said, looking properly contrite as he bowed his head in Sect Leader Yao's direction before glancing over at Jin Guangyao. "But a matter has arisen that requires A-Yao's attention. Your father had a question about something to do with tomorrow's agenda?"
"Ah." Jin Guangyao tilted his eyebrows up into something resembling regret. "I'm so sorry. Perhaps we can continue this later?"
He must have looked properly distraught, as Sect Leader Yao let them go with minimal grumbling, Xichen's hand a reassuring warmth cupped around Jin Guangyao's elbow.
"What sort of problem is there with the agenda?" Jin Guangyao asked as they walked away.
"Ah." Xichen's smile was a quick thing, small and sheepish as he darted a look back at Sect Leader Yao, who had already found another unwilling ear to bend. "There isn't one, actually," he admitted, his voice barely audible over the low din of the crowd. "You just looked like you needed rescuing."
"Er-ge," Jin Guangyao gasped, scandalized and delighted in equal measure. "Isn't lying against your sect's rules?"
"It wasn't a lie, exactly," Xichen insisted, nodding genially at those they passed while skillfully avoiding any actual engagement. "I never said he has a question about the agenda right now, and I did in fact hear him ask one earlier today."
Jin Guangyao laughed as Lan Xichen led the way out a side door, into a quiet hallway off the main chamber of Glamour Hall. This passage was all but abandoned this late at night; it led to the kitchen-adjacent chamber where the meal was staged before being brought out, but at this late hour, only drinks and snacks would be refreshed, coming directly from the kitchen.
It was a good thing it was so empty, as the moment Jin Guangyao slid the door shut behind them, Lan Xichen was tugging at him, pressing him into the wall with a deep, searching kiss. Jin Guangyao was immediately swept away in the sensation, in the long line of Lan Xichen's body pressing into his, in the hot sweep of his tongue, in the way his fingers slid along his jawline until he could tilt Jin Guangyao's face just so—
"Er-ge," Jin Guangyao said when they broke apart, their warm breaths mingling. His fingers were caught up in the front of Xichen's robe, though he had no actual memory of choosing to grab him. "Did you bring me out here just to accost me?"
Xichen's eyes were dark and fond in the dimly-lit hallway. "Could you blame me?" He dragged a thumb lightly over Jin Guangyao's lower lip. "You were brilliant today. And beautiful," he added, lips tilting up in a distracted smile. "Always beautiful."
Jin Guangyao let the tip of his tongue brush over the pad of Xichen's thumb, smiling at how his eyes darkened even further. "You are too kind, as always," he demurred.
"Nonsense," Lan Xichen protested, leaning in for another brief kiss before continuing. "You work too hard and never get the credit you deserve. I wish—" He cut himself off and looked away.
"What do you wish, Er-ge?" Jin Guangyao asked, tilting his head ever so slightly in an attempt to catch Lan Xichen's eye.
"I wish I could make them see your worth," Xichen replied after a moment. "And barring that, I wish I could take you away, give you a break. Especially today," he added. He dipped his head, dragging his lips along the side of Jin Guangyao's neck in a way that made his knees turn to jelly. Jin Guangyao could only grip at Xichen's biceps as he tilted his head to give him better access, a move rewarded by soft lips and a hint of warm tongue at the hinge of his jaw.
Jin Guangyao's breath caught in his throat as a shaft of golden light suddenly pierced the darkness. Both of them froze as the door slid open, the low murmur of sound from the hall flooding into the passage.
"Tch, not that way," a low voice scolded. "You're drunk, shixiong. Our rooms are—" The door snapped shut again as the interloper was forcibly pulled away, shutting them away in darkness once more.
Jin Guangyao breathed a sigh of relief, then looked up to see Xichen looking down at him as if he wanted to devour him. It was heady and intoxicating and just a little intimidating, so he could hardly be blamed for what he said next.
"Do it, then," he said, raising an eyebrow as if in challenge as he slipped his hand into Xichen's. "Take me away."
Xichen's eyes widened briefly, and then he turned, tugging Jin Guangyao along the corridor. He visited so often that he knew his way around Jinlintai almost as well as Cloud Recesses. At one point they nearly rounded a corner directly into a servant, but Xichen hauled them to a stop just in time, spinning Jin Guangyao into a wall and pressing him into it with the length of his body. He was warm and breathing hard, chest rising and falling against Jin Guangyao. His fingers tightened ever so slightly on Jin Guangyao's hips as the servant drew close, but she diverted down another hallway before discovering them.
"This way," Xichen whispered, wrapping long fingers around Jin Guangyao's wrist and tugging. He led them out a back door and into one of the back gardens of Jinlintai, shaded and mostly dark, as it wasn't one of the ones visitors usually wandered through. This particular part of the garden was mostly used by the kitchen staff, and the air was thick with the scent of pungent herbs and fresh greenery.
Lan Xichen led the way through the herb garden, down to where the plants grew higher, growing vegetables. They slipped between the rows, careful not to step on any trailing beans or plump eggplants, sharing hushed laughter between them when a beetle flew up and landed on Xichen's temple, prompting a startled squawk from him before he realized what it was.
Jin Guangyao could feel them both relax a bit when they made it back to the orchard; they spent a fair bit of time back here walking and talking during Xichen's visits, so it was familiar and comforting to both of them. The trees offered some measure of privacy, especially this late in the evening, despite being close enough to Carp tower that its golden light was still easily visible through the boughs of the trees.
"Look at you," Jin Guangyao teased, one corner of his lips turning up. "Rebelling! Who would have thought the venerable Lan clan leader woul— mmph."
Jin Guangyao was cut off by another set of lips on his own, hot and hurried and insistent, hands on his hips gripping hard enough that he could feel the press of each fingertip even through all of his layers of robes.
"Er-ge," he gasped when they parted. "What is this mood you're in?"
"Not a mood," Xichen replied, even as he tugged at the neckline of Jin Guangyao's robes, dipping his head to nip at the sharp end of one collarbone once it was revealed. "Just you. Watching you all day, being so close and so unable to touch. I thought I might expire of wanting you."
Jin Guangyao laughed a little at that, leaning back against a tree and using his grip on Lan Xichen's outer robe to pull him in closer. "That would be like dying of thirst while swimming in a lake, love. I'm here."
"Yes," Lan Xichen breathed, his eyes going soft. "Yes, you are." The next kiss was soft and lush, slow and heated and full of promises of things to come. His hands roamed over Jin Guangyao as if he couldn't decide where to settle them; one moment he'd be cupping his jaw, the next he'd have his fingers in his hair, and mere moments later he'd have a grip on his waist.
By the time they broke apart, Jin Guangyao was panting. Lan Xichen was so beautiful in the dappled moonlight, the silvery light catching on his hair, his cheekbones, on the ivory threads embroidered on his blue outer robe. He looked like moonlight made human, and in that moment Jin Guangyao couldn't imagine what he'd done to deserve this. He slid to his knees, tugging at Lan Xichen's belt.
"A-Yao," Xichen groaned quietly. He raised his own hands to help, pulling his robe apart and pushing his pants down as Jin Guangyao reached in, gently pulling out his growing erection. As Jin Guangyao took a moment to admire Lan Xichen's length, Lan Xichen gently removed Jin Guangyao's hat and set it on the ground beside them.
Jin Guangyao leaned in, pressing an open-mouthed kiss to the tip, lingering just long enough to swipe his tongue across — a hint of bitter salt — before pulling back, licking his lips, and taking it almost all the way in.
He heard Lan Xichen's low groan even as he felt the erection in his mouth surge the rest of the way to full hardness in the space of a few seconds. He lingered there a moment, basking in the warmth and scent and presence of Xichen, before pulling back and setting a slow rhythm.
He moved so slowly it was almost a tease, a fact highlighted by the tension running through every line of Lan Xichen's body as he fought not to move. Jin Guangyao could feel him trembling where he braced his hands on Xichen's thighs, could feel all the coiled strength there, all the restrained power. It was heady, almost intoxicating, to have a man as powerful as Zewu-Jun holding himself back for Jin Guangyao's sake.
"Yes," Lan Xichen breathed above him, his voice just ever so slightly unsteady. "Look at you. You— ah, A-Yao, you're so good. You feel so good."
As much as Jin Guangyao enjoyed this teasing, loved making Xichen wonder how long he'd make him wait this time, he was also impatient tonight — he wanted to feel all of Xichen, wanted to feel full, wanted the heat and the burn of it. After several minutes of the slow, steady pace, he paused at the tip again, swirling his tongue to collect the salty fluid leaking there, then sank down in one smooth move, never stopping even as Xichen's erection slid past the back of Jin Guangyao's mouth and into his throat.
Xichen let out a choked-off gasp above him, and his hips twitched forward in a shallow thrust as his hands that had been hovering uncertainly in the air landed firmly on Jin Guangyao's head. It was as if he'd been startled into taking what he wanted, and Jin Guangyao felt nearly dizzy with the power of it. He hummed happily around his mouthful, wrapping his hands around the back of Lan Xichen's thighs and pulling at him to encourage him to keep moving.
Slowly but steadily, Lan Xichen began thrusting, shallow and careful at first, then with a little more force as Jin Guangyao urged him on with pleased noises and fingers pressed into smooth skin.
They were both so caught up in their pleasure that they didn't notice the footsteps until they were far too close.
"...and then that sect leader from the south wouldn't stop prattling on about taxes on fishing rights, of all things. Why on earth would he think I care about that?"
Jin Guangyao felt Lan Xichen freeze as he heard Jin Guangshan's waspish voice nearby.
"You are Chief Cultivator," Jin Zixuan offered, almost deferentially. "Perhaps he thought you'd have an opinion on the matter."
"My only opinion is that I wouldn't have had to suffer through that nonsense if my other son were doing his duty and seeing to my guests," Jin Guangshan snapped. "He was in charge of all of this, and where is he now?"
Jin Guangyao winced and made to pull back, but Lan Xichen's fingers tightened in his hair, keeping him right where he was. He looked up, trying his best to not shift even a little bit; nothing that could give their position away. The thought of his father and half-brother discovering them like this sent a hot flash of shame through him, followed immediately and confusingly by a bolt of arousal. He looked up to see Lan Xichen's eyes locked on him and nearly choked at the intensity of his gaze.
"Is it not also his birthday?" Jin Zixuan said, almost timidly. "If he wanted a break after planning—"
"He doesn't get a break," Jin Guangshan snapped. "I don't care when he was born. This isn't about him. This is about my heir. This is about the other clans seeing us as the powerhouse we are."
The haze of lust in Lan Xichen's gaze had partially cleared by now, but still he made no move to release Jin Guangyao. The arousal in his eyes was replaced by anger, cold and dangerous, his eyes darting up to where the voices were coming from. His fingers flexed ever so slightly, his hips moving so that he began pumping gently, silently, into Jin Gangyao's mouth once more. Jin Guangyao could only relax his mouth and allow the movement, doing his best to keep his breathing slow and quiet and even, to limit any of the wet mouth sounds he'd normally exaggerate for Lan Xichen's pleasure.
"If anything goes wrong," Jin Guangshan said peevishly, his voice alarmingly nearby causing a spike of adrenaline in Jin Guangyao's blood. "I'll have his head."
The tension in the air was so thick it seemed impossible that Jin Guangshan and Jin Zixuan could be unaware of it, but their footsteps finally moved away as Jin Zixuan made more generic placating noises and Jin Guangshan continued his ranting. It wasn't until their voices had faded completely into the generic din of the nearby celebration that Lan Xichen relented, pulling Jin Guangyao back, his dick falling out of Jin Guangyao's mouth with a quiet pop, and hauling him up as if he weighed nothing to press him against the tree and kiss him, his mouth hard and insistent against Jin Guangyao's own. Jin Guangyao couldn't help the needy noise he made into the kiss; Lan Xichen never allowed himself to lose his restraint this way, and it was hotter than it had any right to be.
When they finally parted, Jin Guangyao let his head fall back against the trunk of the tree, chest heaving as he sucked in great lungfuls of air. His lips felt almost numb after being stretched around Lan Xichen's dick for so long, then followed by that rough kiss, but he loved it, loved the buzz of adrenaline settling over his skin.
"I should go," he said reluctantly, because it seemed easier to address the obvious than to ask any of the questions swirling around his head — Why did you keep going, when they could have caught us? Why did I like it? "Father will be looking—"
"Let him look," Lan Xichen said, his voice nearly a growl. "At least for tonight." He leaned in to capture Jin Guangyao's lips once more. "They don't deserve you," he added when he finally pulled back.
"And you do?" Jin Guangyao shot back, daringly. "Zewu-Jun?"
Lan Xichen huffed out a laugh, leaning in to drag his lips down Jin Guangyao's jaw, then the long column of his throat. Jin Guangyao shuddered when he spoke against the sensitive skin there, warm breath contrasting against the cool air of the night.
"A-Huan," Lan Xichen corrected. Jin Guangyao blinked, not understanding at first. "Call me A-Huan, out here."
"A-Huan," Jin Guangyao repeated dutifully, his voice trembling slightly. This was a side of Lan Xichen' he'd never seen, but his arousal and curiosity were far outweighing his nerves and common sense at this point.
"No," Lan Xichen said, answering the earlier question. "I do not deserve you, as Zewu-Jun or A-Huan. But I can appreciate you in a way they never will." He bit down lightly at the juncture of Jin Guangyao's neck and shoulder, and Jin Guangyao whimpered, shuddering against him.
"A way you wish they could see?" Jin Guangyao asked on a gamble, smiling when Lan Xichen froze.
"Is that what you want?" Lan Xichen asked. He spun Jin Guangyao around until he faced the tree, and Jin Guangyao gasped when he felt a large hand reach under his robes, tailing purposefully up the backs of one thigh, pushing down the thin pants underneath. "You want them to see how I appreciate you?"
Jin Guangyao opened his mouth to reply, but before he could, Lan Xichen's hand slid up Jin Guangyao's face from behind, hooking two fingers around until they were buried in Jin Guangyao's mouth. Always quick to catch on, Jin Guangyao laved them with his tongue, wetting them as much as he could.
"Good," Lan Xichen said approvingly, the sound of his voice rumbling in his chest against Jin Guangyao's back. "Always so good." He removed his fingers and within seconds, Jin Guangyao could only hold onto the tree as Lan Xichen traced over his rim a few times, barely enough to warn him, before pressing inside, slow and steady.
It wasn't until part of Lan Xichen was inside him that Jin Guangyao realized what they were about to do, right here in his father's garden.
"Er-ge," he said, breathless. "A-Huan. Are you— anyone could come, anyone could see—"
At that, Lan Xichen simply added a second finger, and Jin Guangyao let out a choked cry, fingers curling against the rough bark of the tree.
Lan Xichen pressed against him from behind, and Jin Guangyao was surprised to find he had found the time, at some point, to loosen his robes. With the way he held up Jin Guangyao's robes in the back, that meant there was nothing between them at the waist, nothing to stop him from feeling the heat of Xichen's erection against his ass.
"Let them see," Lan Xichen said, in a voice that would sound calm to anyone who didn't know him as well as Jin Guangyao. "Let them see how good, how beautiful you are. Let them see you're—" He cut himself off.
"Let them see I'm yours?" Jin Guangyao prompted, chest tight.
The sound Lan Xichen made at that was nothing short of a growl, a deep rumbling that made Jin Guangyao weak in the knees.
"Mine," Lan Xichen echoed as he withdrew his fingers. Jin Guangyao whimpered, but didn't have time to voice any further complaint before something larger and warmer took their place.
"A-Huan," Jin Guangyao choked out, his voice strained as he worked to stay quiet, to keep from crying out as his body stretched and burned to a point almost beyond its limits. Lan Xichen continued pressing in, slowly but inexorably, his fingers tight on Jin Guangyao's hips.
By the time Lan Xichen was fully seated, Jin Guangyao felt full to the brim, too full to move, too full to breathe, as if his lungs themselves were displaced.
Lan Xichen rolled his hips ever so slightly, withdrawing just a bit before pressing in even deeper. "Do you have any idea," he said, his breath hot on the back of Jin Guangyao's neck, "how good you feel?" He gave another thrust, slow but deep, and the sweet dragging pleasure of it nearly made Jin Guangyao moan; he clapped a hand over his mouth in an attempt to hold it in, all too aware of their precarious location.
"No," Lan Xichen said, reaching around to pull Jin Guangyao's hand away from his mouth. "I want to hear you." There was a moment of hesitation, then Lan Xichen withdrew completely, pulling out of Jin Guangyao and taking a step back.
"Er-ge?" Jin Guangyao asked uncertainly. The word was barely out of his mouth before he was spun around, his arms pulled up over his head. Lan Xichen's eyes were dark and wild, one large hand pinning Jin Guangyao's hands to the tree above his head.
Maintaining eye contact, Lan Xichen reached up with his free hand to untie the crisp white ribbon that circled his forehead. He moved slowly enough to give Jin Guangyao time to protest, raising the ribbon until he was able to loop it around Jin Guangyao's wrists.
Jin Guangyao's breath stuttered in his chest as he felt the ribbon against his skin; he knew what it meant to the Lan clan, what it meant to Xichen. Lan Xichen released his hands as the ribbon tightened around his wrists.
"Mine," Lan Xichen repeated, leaning in for a kiss as he reached down, pulling Jin Guangyao's robes out of the way and lifting him against the tree, hoisting him up until he could circle his legs around Xichen's waist. Jin Guangyao lowered his bound arms around Lan Xichen's neck as Xichen pressed into him once more in one swift movement, the sweet sting of it ringing through Jin Guangyao's body.
"Yours," Jin Guangyao agreed on a sigh, letting his head loll back against the tree as Xichen set a punishing rhythm. He didn't bother trying to hold in his sounds anymore, quiet moans escaping him with each thrust, the thrill of possibly being caught zinging under his skin. "Yours, A-Huan."
The sound of his name on Jin Guangyao's lips seemed to spur Lan Xichen on; his thrusts grew uneven, his grip on Jin Guangyao's thighs tightening. Jin Guangyao himself was nearing the edge; his erection had been rubbing against Lan Xichen's stomach with each thrust, creating just enough friction to drive him wild.
Within just a few minutes, Jin Guangyao surrendered to the current of pleasure singing under his skin; he groaned loudly as he fell apart, trembling in Lan Xichen's arms as wave upon wave of pleasure washed over him. At some point as Jin Guangyao floated through his orgasm, Lan Xichen found his own, burying his face in the side of Jin Guangyao's neck as his hips stuttered and he came with a cry.
It was oddly quiet around them as they panted against each other, even the chirping insects that usually filled the night having hushed for the moment. Eventually, Lan Xichen moved to set Jin Guangyao on his feet, and Jin Guangyao couldn't help but wince as he lifted his bound hands over Lan Xichen's head; his shoulders had stiffened in their time locked into place, and they did not much appreciate being forced to move.
"A-Yao," Lan Xichen said, his face creased with worry as he pulled at the knot in the ribbon. "I'm so sorry, are you hurt? Was I too—"
"You were perfect," Jin Guangyao said, interrupting in a rare show of discourtesy. He couldn't help but think they could handle a bit of informality, what with them being naked and rumpled and covered in each other's fluids. "I didn't know that you could— that you'd want to do… anything like that.".
Lan Xichen merely smiled and ducked his head a little. "You are… inspiring," he said, a bit sheepishly. He reached out to take Jin Guangyao's hand, as if he couldn't handle not touching him somehow. "You make me think of all sorts of things I'd never considered before."
"All sorts of things, hm?" Jin Guangyao had just come so hard his legs were still unsteady, but that didn't stop him from immediately perking up at that, insatiably curious at what else might lurk behind Zewu-Jun's oh-so-placid exterior. "Maybe we should discuss some of those things."
Lan Xichen opened his mouth to reply, but he was cut off by the sound of distant voices, someone chatting and wandering through the nearby garden. "Perhaps in private?" he suggested, as he withdrew to begin fixing his own robes back in place.
Jin Guangyao hummed, considering, as he smoothed his own robes out, tying his sash and retrieving his hat from the ground.
"Perhaps," he allowed. "After all," he added innocently, "we certainly wouldn't want anyone seeing what a mess you made of me."
He couldn't help but smile as Lan Xichen's fingers fumbled as he was tying his forehead ribbon back on. This was going to be fun.
