Work Text:

Gregory was standing in front of the slide, he knew he was now banned from the daycare but he didn’t think it was fair.

He hadn’t meant to turn off the lights.

For some reason he felt guilty; Sunrise sounded really upset after everything.

Every time Gregory tried to slide down the sun would be there screeching. It always hurt his ears when it happened.

Gregory didn’t really want to slide down, to be fair he didn’t want to be in this stupid place at all and yet he was still trapped here.

Maybe it wouldn’t be a bad idea to try one more time to go into the daycare he thought.

It was either animatronics that wanted him “probably” dead or an upset robot.

He stuck only his head through the slide and listened.
“Clean Clean Clean! Oh I love love cleaning!”

Yep that was sunrise.

Gregory just couldn’t understand why Sunrise loved cleaning so much it was boring and too
much time.

Gregory waited a while and listened, Sunrise sure did like talking to himself.

Should he really be doing this?

Sunrise sounds like he was fine and liked what was keeping him preoccupied but still Gregory had the erge to just go.

To just slide.

He sat down at the entrance of the slide, took a deep breath and pushed off with his hands
Gregorys small giggles echoed as he shot down the twisty tunnel.

A rush of light burst everywhere as he reached the end.

He immediately fell feet first, the plastic balls rattling and he squirmed around.

Instantly as soon as he was submerged he felt something under his arms lifiting him up.

“HEY! DON’T YOU GET THE MEANING IF THE WORD BANNED?! NAUGHTY CHILDREN ARENT ALOUD TO PLAY!”

Gregory winced, sunrise sounded really upset. It was crazy that his emotions changed so quickly.

“I-I didn’t-“ Gregory said, keeping his head down and not making eye contact. He didn’t really know what to say.

He wasn’t expecting to get this far.

Sunrise just stared at him, keeping him suspended in the air.

“I didn’t m-mean too.” Gregory whispered still looking down, “If I knew w-what would happen I wouldn’t have done it.”

After a long silence Gregory looked up to find Sunrise just staring at him. Was he trying to read him?

It would make sense that Sunrise would be able to do that with how many kids he’s around.

“You know what I think..” Sunrise said slowly, Gregory was silent, partly closing his eyes, wincing almost. He was preparing for the answer.

“I think WE CAN STILL BE FRIENDS! YOU APOLOGIZED DIDNT YOU?! YOU KNOW WHAT YOU DID WRONG YES?!” Sunrise exclaimed while spinning him. Gregory slowly nodded with wide eyes, not expecting that answer.

“GREAT!” Sunrise put him down “OK! What could we do! We could finger paint! and tell stories!”

Gregory felt a tug in his face. He realized he was smiling which made him smile even more. He loved the feeling.

He wasn’t going to make the same mistake again. Maybe. MAYBE he was going to have a new friend.
