It was during lunch at the Great Hall when it first happened.
Doyoung was looking over the large tables and bodies over to the Hufflepuffs to see if his best friend was actually studying as he told him he would when he saw the person next to Jungwoo already looking in their direction. He knew the gaze wasn’t directed at him, nor did it seem like the Hufflepuff was aware he saw him. He traced the eyes until they landed at the oblivious, studying form of his other best friend.
˝Jaehyun, why is that tall Hufflepuff near Jungwoo looking at you?˝, the question makes Jaehyun's face twist in confusion, what Hufflepuff? Looking at him?
He looks up at the long table of yellow, scanning it, and really there’s someone looking at him. He looks back down at his books and realizes it’s Johnny Suh to be specific. Johnny and him aren’t too close but they do share a few newt level classes so he’s seen him around and even exchanged a few words, but that’s as buddy as they have gotten.
˝That’s Johnny, I know him from my newt classes˝
˝That’s lovely….why is he looking at you like he hasn’t drank in 20 years and you’re water?˝
Jaehyun's ears blush a deep red before he can stop them and looks at Doyoung with something close to scandal, ˝What the hell he’s not looking at me like-˝
˝I know we talk about a lot of dumb shit but why are we talking about water?˝
Jaehyun looks up to see his other two menaces known as Yuta and Haechan sitting down in front of them, probably coming back from bothering Mark at the Gryffindor table. And just by them entering all beaming, probably successful too.
˝Hufflepuff tree over there sending heart eyes to Jae˝, Jaehyun scoffs as Yuta and Haechan look at each other with a glint in their eyes which Jaehyun recognizes at this point as mischief. And right then and there he knows, he’s fucked.
˝So, Jae, when are we meeting the husband?˝, Jaehyun looked up to meet Yuta looking at him with expectant eyes.
˝I call dibs as best man!˝
˝You little shit I know him longer I'm the best man!"
˝I know him the longest you two can suck dick˝
˝Jae are you gonna let Hyuck and Doie talk to me like this?˝
Jaehyun just gives him a deadpan look and responds, ˝Absolutely˝
˝Fine then I’m going to your husband, where is he, when can I meet him?˝
˝Nobody is meeting any husband and by the way Johnny is not sending heart eyes at me we're barely acquaintances˝
˝Love at first sight is a thing you know˝
It’s not a first sight, they’ve been in school for 7 years but ok.
˝Hyuck I’m going to pretend you never said that and continue my day, still giving you some level of respect˝
˝Oh come on someone may have a crush on you and you’re not gonna let us tease you? What kind of friends would that make us?˝, Jaehyun looks back up at Yuta who’s giving him that smile that says he is not apologetic at all.
˝Where can I get those kinds of friends˝
˝You’re no fun Jae, Hyuck and I just wanna know who after 7 years of absolute singleness has eyes on our bestie˝
˝He doesn’t have eyes on me you guys are overreacting why would he even like me, I’m an ambitious prick of a Slytherin remember?˝
˝You’re perfection embodied don’t even start", Yuta puts up his hand and starts counting, "you’re smart, I hate to admit it but funny too, you’re pretty as hell like if I wasn’t your best friend I’d hit that and you're genuinely a nice soul˝
˝That’s kinda gay and gross˝
˝Look who's talking˝, Haechan gasps but Yuta doesn’t even blink.
At this point Jaehyun gives up on his books ,˝Ok, even if he did have a crush on me, which he doesn’t, why would he not tell me and just look at me. Besides this is probably just a one time thing he’s not even looking here anymore after Doyoung pointed him out. Maybe it was just a glitch˝
Yuta smiles and takes a deep breath and Jaehyun braces himself for the stupidity that will leave his mouth this time, ˝First of all have you ever just told your crush ‘Hey I like you’ if you didn’t know they felt the same? Yeah me too. Second, this is the first time we’ve seen him looking at you, what if this has been a thing but we just didn’t see him until now? And third, of course he’s not gonna keep looking at you after he was caught he’d either have to have balls of steel or be a fucking idiot˝
And Jaehyun absolutely hates to admit he's right. He's still not going to say it though, Yuta would never shut up about it.
"Yes and pigs are flying"
Yuta leans back looking completely exhausted, "You're impossible"
Yes, he is. But he'd rather live in possible delusion than face reality.

After what Jaehyun would describe the glitch at lunch he headed to one of his newt classes the next week fully expecting Johnny Suh would mind his business.
He's sitting down at his desk and going through the lesson from last time when he feels a tap on his shoulder.
"Hey Jung", Jaehyun looks up to find his classmate, Felix he thinks his name is, with stacks of books and a smile.
"Hey, what are those for"
"They're extra reading we should do for the class professor told me to hand them out, here", the book was heavier than Jaehyun expected to be but what else do you expect from potions.
"Damn I'll barely have time to go through regulars let alone this"
"Same but hey if my idiot brother could pass then so can we, I have to keep handing these out see ya later"
That is true Jaehyun knew his brother a bit he was infamous for always smuggling snacks from the kitchen, if you were stuck studying in the middle of the night and needed something to energize you Felixes brother was the person to go to. Jaehyun may have used his services a few times.
He keeps up small conversation with Felix as much as he can considering they're in class, it's already nearly done when Jaehyun is doing last preparations with his potion, if he doesn't let it simmer too long, which happens to him more than he'd like to admit, the outcome should be free of explosions.
Potions is an exact subject, you have to do things in the right amount at the right time and that's difficult for some people (read: Jaehyun), but he somehow gets by.
He's done mixing and looks around to check how others are doing and he stops at a familiar pair of yellow robes. Johnny is checking the temperature of his potion all focused and Jaehyun needs to fight back the voices of his friends telling him how the other has a crush on him.
It's too late to look away when he can already feel that gaze on him. Well he's fucked.
He looks up and to no one's surprise there's Johnny looking back at him with an expression Jaehyun has no time to read when Johnny is already changing it to a kind smile and fuck why is Johnny so nice why can't he just look away.
Jaehyun isn't dumb or a prick so he smiles back, barely, because he's still fighting those little voices of his friends. He wills himself to look back down at his potion and prepare it for testing before it can be ruined.
Great, now he was the one caught watching, absolutely amazing his friends are going to have fun with this one. Knowing them, it's going to last a good month. Which is why while his potion is being evaluated he's thinking whether or not to even tell them anything, then it gets into his pee brain that he and Johnny literally just looked at each other and he's overreacting. Now he's definitely not telling his friends.

It's dinner time and while Jaehyun is already seated at the table his friends are nowhere to be seen which surprises him since Yuta and Hyuck are usually the first here, always hungry.
Looking around he can't stop his eyes from going back to the table he knows the cause of his recent troubles is sitting. And there he is, sitting with his own friends probably talking about their classes or gossiping like the rest of the hall.
"I just don't think it's that big of a deal ok"
Jaehyun snaps back to reality and looks up to his friends sitting down while having what he deems another dumb argument.
"Should I even ask what this is about", Haechan is the first to speak, not even letting the others open their mouth.
"Yuta is in love with someone but won't tell us who"
"Cause it's none of your business asshat"
"Will you two calm down before we get another round of detention"
Jaehyun is still too distracted to try and catch up with the conversation when Doyoung turns to him and asks, "Please have something to talk about because I can't do this anymore"
Jaehyun shakes his head no, he'd rather listen to Yuta and Haechan bicker than have to talk about whatever turmoil is going on inside his head.
"As I was saying, Yuta is keeping his shit a secret like we don't literally say everything to each other"
Jaehyun visibly stiffens at that.
"Jae, we don't keep secrets right?"
Jaehyun all but gulps, does Haechan have natural legilimency or something, "Of course not"
To his surprise and relief Haechan seems pleased, ok so maybe he can't perform legilimency. But that's why his best friend has to open his mouth.
"Didn't you have your newts class with Johnny today, did he stare again?"
Jaehyun literally deflates. Curse Doyoung and his ability to learn his friends schedules by heart.
"Nothing happened, we just made eye contact once and smiled that's all"
The shrieks are instant.
"Premarital eye contact is a sin Jaehyun"
"Oh my ship is sailing"
"That's it?"
Guess who was who.
"What do you mean that's it was I supposed to propose or something?"
"Of course not but didn't you say you two talked sometimes, what changed?"
Well shit now that Doyoung says it Jaehyun realizes he hasn't really spoken that much to Johnny since the lunch his friends caught him staring at Jaehyun.
"Nothing changed, I've just been studying and going to class and talking to you guys"
"Then invite him to study with you"
Wow Doyoung is absolutely hilarious, "And why would I do that"
"So that you can figure out whether or not the poor boy is crushing on you or no"
"And again, why would I do that", Jaehyun is dead serious but Doyoung just sighs for probably the fifth time in the past ten minutes.
"For fucks sake so you can see if you like him back or not and figure out what to do from there, right now you're just hovering around doing shit"
Jaehyun looks back at the other two as if asking for assistance but all they do is shrug in response, clearly not caring enough what Jaehyun does or just enjoying his pain.
"What if I just ignore it, not ask him to study and continue hovering over him cause I don't want to know if he likes me or if I like him"
"You're an idiot", he has no time to respond before Doyoung is already shouting.
"Kim Jungwoo!"
Jaehyun turns to see the very familiar tall blonde boy heading over to them, biggest smile on his face of course.
"Hey, what's up"
"Say, how is Johnny doing in his newts?"
Jaehyun whisper-shouts, "Doyoung!"
"Well he's doing fine but he has said he's struggling a little with practicals, I think he said something about nonverbals beating his ass"
"Okay thanks, could you send Johnny over?"
"Yeah sure"
"Excuse me what?"
"What? You're okay at nonverbals you can offer to teach Johnny I'm practically doing the whole job for you both"
"Who said I want you to do the damn job, I don't want to teach him, do I look like a teacher to you? And even if I wanted to it's probably going to be awkward why would I do that to the both of us"
"Well you'll never know until you try now will you?"
"Try what?"
Fuck.
"Hey John, we heard you're struggling a little with nonverbals, Jaehyunnie here is good at them and could help you if you want"
Jaehyun swears on his patronus he's going to murder Doyoung in his sleep.
"Oh well, only if Jaehyun is cool with it, I wouldn't want to be a bother"
And fuck Jaehyun and his luck. Still, he puts on his big boy pants and gives a smile while answering.
"Of course I'm fine with it"
"Well it's settled then Jaehyun is free this Friday after lunch"
"Okay then, Friday it is, see you I guess"
There's a quick silence, he watches Johnny move away before he starts.
"Fuck you, it's gonna be so awkward now what am I gonna do? "
Doyoung just gets up completely looking like he didn't even hear Jaehyun and makes way around his patting him on the shoulder before saying, "it's only awkward if you make it awkward"
And honestly, fuck Kim Doyoung.

He's a little stunned when he's coming back to his respective table.
"Woo, did I just get a study date with my crush?"
"He said yes?", Johnny looks up at the table to see Jungwoo gripping Taeyongs arm which was hanging in the air with its respectable spoon of pudding.
"I mean Doyoung kind of said everything but yeah"
"Aw look at you actually doing something about that helpless pinning"
"Holy shit did he actually do something to get with dimple boy?", Kun speaks from the other side of the table, probably just now zoning back into the conversation.
Johnny would roll his eyes if he still wasn't processing what just happened in the last 5 minutes, he honestly doesn't think it'll ever sink in.
"Guys let him live he's obviously going through it"
"Tae that's assuming he's even conscious now"
"I'm conscious.. I think, someone pinch me"
And he really puts his hand out to be pinched, Kun gladly accepts and pinches him.
"Fucking hell! I'm conscious that's for fucking sure", Kun merely shrugs, going back to his food, "You offered"
Well holy fuck, this is really happening, he can't think straight. He's going to get taught by Jung Jaehyun, or as his friends like to call him, dimple boy.
They're not wrong though, it's something Johnny liked in Jaehyun immediately when he saw him smile. He gets teased nearly everyday by his friends because Johnny goes out of his way to wake up early just to get ready faster and see a cute sleepy Jaehyun walk through the door at breakfast. Yuta has called it creepy a few times but can you blame someone who's desperately in love?
Now though, as he's sat down it actually dawns to him just how not ready he is.
"Guys, I'm actually fucked. What the fuck do I do alone with him I've been in love with him longer than I know and I'm gonna be alone with him what the fuck-"
"Maybe confess you giant idiot"
"I'm serious Tae! I've only ever talked academics with him and I know this is also academics but he's going to be teaching me! Fuck I'm so fucked. What if I do some dumb shit and he doesn't wanna teach me anymore-"
"Then you're fucked but maybe just don't do something stupid, I don't know it's just a suggestion", and Johnny would have punched him right then and there if he didn't need advice.
"You kind sir are too sarcastic for my current situation and would appreciate actually aid"
"He's speaking poetry again we've lost him boys"
"Fuck you all I'm going to talk to people who are in actual relationships. Kun I know you're dating but you're obviously not interested in helping either"
Kun smiles ear to ear offering a wave as a goodbye, "And you got that right, good luck dumbass"

It's February, it's February and it's too fucking cold. Jaehyun is freezing his ass off waiting for the person his friends made sure he meet this damn cold Friday. Yes his mother made him pack warm clothes like sweaters, scarf, mittens and hats and yes Jaehyun knows what England weather is like by now but even in his scarf and mittens it's too damn cold.
He's midway cursing the hell out of Johnny for making him wait so long when he hears the crushing of snow behind him and look who decided to come after all.
"Sorry I'm late I had to help my last teacher with something", Jaehyun looks over Johnny in his jacket and school scarf, no mittens, no hat.
"How are you not cold"
Johnny looks sheepish for a moment before he answers, "I'm from Chicago, kind of used to this."
"Some people are from Russia but they still have hats on, can we please just go before I start getting frostbites?"
Johnny has the nerve to chuckle but Jaehyun couldn't care less, he's too cold, "Sure, lead the way"
Jaehyun doesn't need to be told twice because he's already making his way to the seventh floor, Johnny behind him or not.
"We're going towards the quad"
"That's correct"
"Are we going to the north wing?"
"Nope"
"Then where are we going?"
Jaehyun finally turns around to face the red nosed boy, "I was planning on going to the boat house since it's the most undisturbed area but it's too cold so we're going to the room of requirements now hurry while I can still walk"
"Wait why the room of requirements we could just go to the north wing, it's got everything we need?"
"Not really, you need help with nonverbals. I'm not sure how fitting it would be to perform levicorpus in the middle of the room, and without a test subject unless you know a first year who would like to volunteer"
"Well as head boy I probably shouldn't encourage any dangling students"

After finding the room of requirements and everything they needed in it (books, dummies and a lot of space) Jaehyun let Johnny try everything they're currently doing in class to see how much help he needs. Right now Jaehyun can say Johnny isn't horrible but is just like the rest, he's ok at the easiest spells, somehow manages to do the medium hard ones and goes completely red in focus on the hardest not even being close to doing them. He can work with this.
"Okay so what I'm getting so far you just need more help in being more stable when you perform the medium ones and complete life support for the harder ones"
Johnny chuckles in small embarrassment, "Yeah I'm not really the best at complete concentration"
"You're not horrible really you just need a little nudge"
"More like a push", Jaehyun allows himself a chuckle before he corrects the older.
"You struggle where everyone else has at one point, if concentration is a problem I can help there"
"Unless you have weed I don't know how you'd do that" and Jaehyun notices Johnny is a little fidgety, waving his wand between his index and middle finger. Jaehyun doesn't think about it another second before he's taking the wand from the older and taking his hands instead.
"What we're gonna do now is a breathing exercise, you can't do a nonverbals if you're panting like a dying mammoth. Now, breathe in until your lungs fill and hold until you can, then let it out slowly. This is to clear your mind, you won't be able to perform shit if your mind is thinking about feeding the cat or that one question in the exam you took last year. "
Johnny chuckles and Jaehyun has to join, okay maybe he's having a bit of fun teaching. After a few rounds of the exercise Jaehyun sees a little tension leave Johnny, seems to relax his frame a bit. Looking up he wish he didn't, it's nothing new, they're making eye contact but this time it's with hands holding and a little too close for Jaehyuns insane mind which is currently repeating his friends words.
"This is the first time we’ve seen him looking at you, what if this has been a thing but we just didn’t see him until now?"
Well fuck, now his head is spinning because what if Johnny Suh likes him and more importantly what the fuck does he do if he does.
"Okay I think we're done I have homework to catch up on"
Johnny merely nods and let's go of Jaehyun, "Of course, I wouldn't want to be holding you."
Jaehyun is done grabbing his things he turns, "I'll see you next Friday then? Don't forget to do the exercises!"
Johnny gives him a smile and nods again, Jaehyun turns to leave before his whack brain decides to stay and possibly entertain his friends delusions for a second.

It's been a few weeks. They meet often than not, the snow slowly turning into slush and water. Johnny has practically mastered nonverbals and they're just studying together at this point. Helping where the other is lacking and comforting when they're struggling. And Jaehyun doesn't know when it started getting so comfortable, he's lying yes he does, it was the first ever meeting. Jaehyun swore he'd lose his mind from how awkward it'd be but it was surprisingly easy to talk to the boy. If we ignored the He didn't notice it then but now it's so clear.
It's getting very real.
It wasn't that much in the beginning to be honest, normal advice and guidance when needed. Then it was Jaehyun explaining something and Johnny not looking away for a second. It was handing each other books and hands brushing, both pulling away too fast to be considered normal but both not wanting to adress it. Then it was the hugs at the end of every session but it's a part of the routine now. And the one that mostly fucks his brain is Johnny walking him to his dorms every time they're done feigning he doesn't want Peeves doing anything to him while he's walking back. Jaehyun knows damn well Peeves would probably just prank them both but lets it be.
it's been weeks and he doesn't know where they stand. The hugs are too short to be considered intimate but too warm on his insides to be considered completely platonic. His mind is absolutely reeling every time Johnny says something nice to him while they're studying and it just fucks him up even more because for Merlins sake he's not the only one and compliments are normal but he swears every time Johnny tells him he did well on a spell or his outfit is good that day Jaehyun wants to crawl in the heat of his stomach and never leave.
"Maybe you just have a praise kink", Jaehyun drops his fork and nearly swears he's never having lunch with his friends again.
"Na Yuta I do not have a praise kink"
"I'm just saying", and Yuta has the audacity to shrug like Jaehyun isn't in a crisis right now.
"Well start saying something smart please"
"I don't know what you want me to say. He is obviously into you, we know that much. I don't know about you but judging by how you haven't rejected him so far I'd say he has a chance"
He's not going to lie, Jaemin has a point. Why couldn't Jaehyun just reject the boy if he didn't feel at least something. Jaehyun just doesn't know what that something is. It's also right in the wrong time. Their classes are ending too soon, it's about to be newt season, a time where no student has the time to even breathe in the morning they're already studying on their way to class. Not to mention even when it's over they are going to start working and trying to figure out how to adult. Even if Jaehyun was a hundred percent sure in his feelings maybe, just maybe he'd tell Johnny. He's not though.
He's quiet when he speaks again like he's thinking about the sentence while he's saying it, "What if I don't know what I'm feeling. I can't reject him, I can't accept him either"
"Well my friend that's on you to figure out."

It was right before newts when Johnny got sick. For a good week Jaehyun didn't see the boy anywhere, probably locked up in the hospital wing with the nurse feeding him something that smells like nettle.
He hasn't visited yet, nor does he know if he should. But it's the voices of his friends telling him that even his study buddy should visit.
That's why he's found himself standing in front of the large doors of the infirmary clutching a few sweets he bought at Honeydukes during the weekend. He breathes in before opening the door and finding dozens of beds, some taken, some empty. He searches for Johnny amidst the beds and finds him in the middle of the room sitting on his bed playing with the hem of his sheets. Johnny doesn't seem to notice him walk in.
"Hey", Johnny whips his head up at the speed of light.
"Hey"
Jaehyun steps unsure, laying the bag of sweets on the over bed table, "I brought you some candy, thought you'd want some"
Johnny stays silent and Jaehyun thinks he may have gone a bit overboard, "I'll just go then", but Johnny speaks before he could.
"I thought you wouldn't come"
He thought he wouldn't come too if he's being honest. Still he breathes in relief and sits at the chair next to the bed.
"Well I'm here, how are you"
"I'm fine, they're just keeping me here for the rest of the day to make sure I don't infect anyone before newts"
"I wouldn't mind", Johnny seems to be amused at that, probably the only humor he's had in a few days.
"Sorry but as head boy I can't be promoting skipping exams"
"Damn, here I thought I could make it out"
"Wow Jung Jaehyun is that the only reason you came to see me?", it's in that mock offended voice that he's talking and Jaehyun has to smile
"Of course no, I care if you live or die you know, I'm not heartless"
"I know", he can hear Johnny sighing, they sit in silence, Jaehyun not really sure what to even say to that. He knows Jaehyun isn't heartless? He knows Jaehyun cares?

It's fucking newt season. It's stressful, it's annoying and you curse your blood for ever being magical.
Jaehyun has been studying non stop for the past two weeks and he's slowly losing life inside him. Whoever came up with the name of the test knew what they were talking about.
He's passed two of his exams so far leaving him with two more. He's allowed himself to take a weekend break and recharge. Johnny is with him and they're where they always are, the room of requirement, just with less books and more comfortable couches and a fireplace, a low tune playing. Jaehyun currently sprawled on one of them, eyes closed and in bliss. Johnny next to the fireppace, Jaehyun can hear him writing something on a piece of parchment paper but it just accompanies the light song playing.
Jaehyun starts humming when a familiar song comes up and it's at the chorus that he hears another.
When he looks up he isn't surprised anymore to see Johnny looking straight back at him, he's not even surprised when he keeps looking. Jaehyun breaks first and looks down to the side where Johnny has his paper, filled with words Jaehyun is trying to make out but doesn't get the chance to when Johnny quickly moves it away.
"What are you writing, we said no studying"
"Nothing much", Jaehyun raises a brow, yeah sure. He lifts himself up on the couch already getting up to bother Johnny.
"Don't lie to me, what is it"
He's already sat next to him in front of the fireplace trying to look over because Johnny so far has not lied to him or hid anything from him, well except the liking him part.
"It's not important", Jaehyun is now squinting at Johnny, oh he's hiding something that's for sure.
"Well you're hiding it from me so it obviously is"
"I'm not hiding it, I'm just a bit embarrassed", he mumbles the last part but Jaehyun catches it.
"Johnny you know I wouldn't judge anything you do"
"Even if I ate pineapple on pizza?"
"I'd learn to accept it", Johnny smiles and Jaehyun tries not to look too long.
Jaehyun feels it before he sees, the parchment Johnny was writing on and he goes wide eyed. It's some sort of poetry or just lyric.
I don't know if it is you captivating eyes or your even more captivating persona

Jaehyun is left speechless. He didn't know Johnny had a thing for writing, or that he was really good at it too. He could feel Johnny through the words he probably took a lot of time letting out. He's afraid to ask though.
"Who is it for?", he barely whispers it out, still looking at the paper too scared to look up.
"Guess"
Jaehyun reads over the lines more times than he can count, he etches them into his soul to never be forgotten because he already knows who it's for.
"Me"
Johnny is silent and Jaehyun would be concerned if he didn't know Johnny, and he knows this is for him.
He's looking up when it gets unbearable and to no ones surprise Johnny has probably been looking at him the whole time.
"Why do you always look at me", hold on he doesn't mean it like that, "I mean, how do you always look at me"
Johnny doesn't let a heartbeat pass before he's already bringing Jaehyun to the verge of crying, his own hands fidgeting, "Because you're worth admiring and not just on the outside, you're absolutely stunning in every sense of the word, you deserve to be looked at all the time"
Jaehyun blinks before he can cry and thinks how stupid he was so far. All he needed was affirmation and Jaehyun would marry Johnny tomorrow. Fuck, he's never had anyone care this much, what the hell was he thinking not immediately telling Johnny.
"I'm guessing by the silence-"
Jaehyun does absolutely not let Johnny finish that sentence. He's already got one hand cupping his cheeks, the other still gripping the paper looking Johnny straight in the eye suddenly not afraid to maintain eye contact.
"Don't you dare even think that"
And before any of them can start crying Jaehyun is already bringing Johnny closer to erase any existing space that's bothering them. And it fucking feels amazing, there may be no butterflies in his stomach or sparks flying but he does feel comfortably warm inside and he feels as light as Johnny described in his lyric. He hasn't kissed anyone in years and after all the stress of exams he can practically feel himself melt against the older. His lips so plush Jaehyun thinks he's going to go mad. He's truly, truly stupid for prolonging the obvious.
Jaehyun feels the grip of Johnnys hand on his nape, like he doesn't believe Jaehyun is real right now. Somewhere along the way Jaehyun lost grip of the paper and his hand has found it's way And Jaehyun only kisses him more because he feels like he's about to burst from so much affection. Or it may be the lack of oxygen, fuck human needs.
He pulls away slowly and rests his forehead on Johnnys. He almost, almost lunges back but he collects himself.
"What does this mean Jae?", he breathes in and laces their hands together, well here goes nothing.
"It means I like you Johnny Suh", when Jaehyun opens his eyes he swears he's never seen Johnny as happy.
"Fuck you don't know how much I wanted to hear that", Johnny lunges into a hug that sends them both falling to the floor.
Jaehyun is smiling when he says, "I think I do, you staring at me every minute of the day is kinda of a dead giveaway", because Johnny has never been subtle.
Johnny is copy paste of Jaehyuns smile when he responds, "What can I say I wear my heart on my sleeve"
Jaehyun curses him and his weak heart because he can't help but leave another peck on those lips and he's fighting to urge to do it again and again until he can't breathe again.
"If I knew I only needed to be cheesy for you to kiss me I would've done it a long time ago", now it's Jaehyuns turn to go full red because yeah he's a sucker for nice words.
"Keep saying all this and I might fuck around and marry you"
"Oh please fuck around"
"I'm not that easy though, you haven't even asked me on a date or anything"
"I'm going to take you on the best dates ever and I'll be the best boyfriend", and it's the word boyfriend that sends Jaehyun into another universe because he could definitely see himself loving being called Johnnys boyfriend.

To everyones relief newts were passing quicker than it felt and Jaehyun had four newts under his name all with either Exceeds Expectations or even an Outstanding.
He's spending the time he has while waiting on his friends to be done with their owls in the courtyard sitting by the fountain reading up on some herbs for healing and scribbling some notes he might need later. He hears someone running from the castle but couldn't be bothered to look up since it's probably just another first year running from a ghost and his friends would not be running that's for sure.
His guess was wrong.
Proven to him by Johnny literally screaming his name.
"Jaehyun!", he sets his things aside getting up because what the fuck is Johnny running for, is it something serious?
He's pulled out of those thoughts however when Johnny crashes into him lifting him up in the air and spinning around like Jaehyun isn't nearly as heavy as him.
Johnny is gripping Jaehyuns shoulders when he breathlessly says, "Jae I passed all five of my newts with all Exceeds Expectations and Outstandings"
"Hey I told you that you could, I have a smart boyfriend"
"And it's thanks to you I did", Jaehyun wants to disagree and say he did it himself but Johnny is already kissing him and Jaehyun is still a weak man.
"I don't think I even need to ask you to know you're probably the same", Jaehyun nods proudly because he just passed his newts with flying colors he has to brag.
"Jae!", he whips his head around to see Haechan bouncing towards them and adding himself into the hug, "I think I might pass with an Exceeds Expectations!"
"That's great Hyuck" I knew you'd make me proud", Haechan disentangle himself from the two thanking them both before saying he had a deal with a friend and should head back, "Oh and Jae, are you going to the quidditch game"
"Yeah we'll both be there", usually the last quidditch match would have been done by now but they postponed it for another week since players would be too burdened and there would probably be no spectators, or they would be buried in books not even watching. Now Jaehyun was a Slytherin and Johnny was a Hufflepuff they had no reason to actually go but it was still the last game of the year and there would be a big celebration after so why not.
"Should we get going my dear?", it's been actual weeks and Jaehyun still doesn't think he'll get used to the way Johnny treats him like he's everything on this world.
They're heading back to the Slytherin common room because it's spacious and they can hang out without any professors or staff telling them to quiet down. Jaehyun gives the password and they're entering, meeting a few Slytherins on their way out, Jaehyun greeting them all.
Johnny sits himself at one of the couches while Jaehyun goes to set his things in his room. Once he's back he sits next to Johnny and lifts his arm so that the older is cuddling him while Jaehyun plays with his fingers.
"Johnny"
"Yeah"
"What are we gonna do during the summer?", it's a question they kind of avoided, sure now they live at the same place but what happens when they start doing completely different jobs?
"I've already told you I'm ready to move in with you tomorrow", and that would've been sweet to Jaehyun if he wasn't actually concerned.
"I'm saying for real"
"I am for real, I know we haven't been dating long but there's no step by step for relationships, some just go faster and some slower"
"Stop that before I say I love you"
Johnny laughs a bit before stating with his full chest, "I love you too"
Jaehyun would probably be tearing up right about now if he didn't already know since that night in the room of requirement.
"So what now you're going to start calling me your husband next?", he's joking he really is but just even thinking about having Johnny for the rest of his life, it doesn't sound like much of a joke anymore.
"Only if you'd want to, I'm already full with all my other pet names for you", and that's true. Johnny is a person who loves pet names he calls Jaehyun love, darling, dear and the occasional honey more than his actual name. Jaehyun can't lie how he feels every bit in love every time he does.
"Maybe later when we actually have the rings to match it", and Jaehyun doesn't need to see the way Johnnys breath hitches or his frame stiffen when he can feel it all.
"What? You wouldn't want to marry me?", Jaehyun nearly laughs at the way Johnny almost jumps up in defense.
"Of course I would, I'd do it tomorrow, I love you so much don't ever think anything else"
Jaehyun finds him absolutely adorable and again, he's a weak man so when he turns around to face a pouty Johny he makes sure to erase it with a soft kiss, nothing long, nothing much. But again, Jaehyun is a weak man and Johnny makes him even weaker, Jaehyun lets himself indulge in just a few more.
"A Hufflepuff topping a Slytherin, I've seen it all"
Jaehyun whips his head around because obviously it was Yuta and Jaehyun would've shouted at him if it wasn't for Johnny shaking from laughter next to him that he joins in.
"Just don't fuck on the couch please not everyone is into exhibitionism"
