Chapter Text
September 22, 1984
The sand shifted under my feet as I walked along the beach. I had heard the commotion from earlier. The engines of a couple of bikes then later arguing, I decided to see what was happening. My eyes scanned the scene currently unfolding in front of me. A small crowd had gathered around a short blonde girl yelling and shoving a taller blonde guy. Huh, maybe relationship problems. I should probably stay out of it. Just as I decided to walk away, he snatched the radio out of her hands. What an asshole.
My feet patted against the sand as I made my way over, my anger growing. “Hey, she doesn't wanna talk to you, alright. Now give her radio back,” I said getting in between the two, my hand reached out for the radio.
“Why don't you just mind your own business,” he pushed the radio behind his back, pushing me to the side to get to her again. I shoved him back, my breath fanned in front of my face as I breathed harder. I shoved off my jacket, throwing it to the ground, the cold summer air pricked my skin.
“Just get out of her man, no one wants you here,” I stood my ground in front of the girl, looking back at her to see the stunned look on her face. It was so quiet you could hear people holding their breath. The boy looked at me, his face went from puzzled to angry, within a second, he was towering over me.
“What are you gonna do, huh,” He moved his face inches from mine. I assume to try to intimidate me, I narrowed my eyes, maintaining eye contact with him. I pushed him back, walking past him to grab the radio, laying in the sand. She’ll be lucky if it still works after this. A smaller boy in a red jacket had picked up the radio before me. I looked over my shoulder to the blonde guy who was practically radiating anger.
“Don't touch it punk,” the tall blonde said, snatching it from his hands, “what, you want it? You got it.” He shoved the radio, roughly, into the smaller boy's chest, pushing him into the sand. He shoved the blonde girl to the side, who was promptly grabbed by who I presume are his friends. My fists clenched even harder as I watched him trip and kick the boy. He turned to the girl, "All I wanted to do was talk to you." The blonde girl struggled, trying to get out of his friend's grip.
“Have enough hero?” he said walking towards the boy who was currently slumped over on the ground. My teeth ground against themselves. My brows furrowed, a look of pure disgust on my face. Suddenly the boy launched up and sucker-punched him in the nose. My eyebrows raised as I began to laugh. Got what he deserves.
The crowd was loud. Cheering and encouraging the blonde to "kick his ass, Johnny." The blonde boy, who I assume is Johnny, wiped his nose of the blood. "Hey, now we're even then," the smaller boy held out his hand for Johnny to shake.
"No mercy man."
No mercy? What type of sick shit is that? He began to kick the smaller boy in the stomach over and over. My nostrils flared as my feet made my way back over to him. He wiped his nose, heavily breathing before his gaze landed on me. He smirked. The nerve of this guy.
“Hey sweetheart, here to kick my ass?” he turned to his friends as they erupted in roars of laughter. Screw this. My fists clenched as I launched my arm back. My knuckles made contact with his cheekbone, making his skin crunch and crinkle on impact. My chest heaved, he took a couple of steps to regain his balance, hand on his cheek. I walked over and grabbed his shirt pulling him within inches of my face, “Eat that, bitch.”
Everything was silent, you could hear the waves softly crashing in the distance. I turned my back, grabbed my jacket off the sand, and walked away. I could hear Johnny say something along the lines of "what the fuck." My knuckles were still numb and tingly. This is gonna feel like shit tomorrow but it was worth it.
