His hand gripped a glass filled with whiskey tightly, he slumped over the empty bars counter. He didn’t stir at all when the smell of smoke infiltrated the bar, “Isn't it a little too late for a drink?” a sultry voice irritated Quackitys depression nap, he just waved his hand in hopes of shooing the pest Wilbur was “Whaddya know anyways..” he managed to slur out. Wilbur chuckled darkly, “You know the wolves come out at night.” He settled besides Quackity, successfully pulling his grip off the glass which earned him a stern glare from Quackity. “I don’t know how you expect anyone to care for you, when you can’t even take care of yourself” Wilbur reprimanded a little more harshly, a pause awkwardly sat between them as Quackity finally rose to glare Wilbur in the eyes reminding Wilbur the cruelty of those words. “Don’t give me shit for that Wil, I can’t take care of myself I admit but at least i’m honest about my incapabilities.” He soberly said, “Are you implying that I’m a liar? I don't think that's wise” Wilbur warned. Quackity just sighed and snatched the glass back, only for the whiskey bottle to be grabbed by Wilbur, “This is a shitty brand, haven’t you got class?” he teased, “Haven’t you gotten someone else to bother? Maybe someone with scales?” Quackity shot back, Wilbur shrugged and lit a cigarette, while Quackity eyed him.
“Can I bum a cigarette off you.” Quackity said, breaking the silence, Wilbur smirked and blew out the smoke in his face, as Quackity recoiled, Wilbur was suddenly on his feet, glowering down at Quackity. Quackitys breath hitched, feeling suddenly like a cornered prey “Of course!” Wilburs glare turned into a cheery smile as he bowed and pulled a pack of cigarettes from his trench coat pocket. “What did you mean bout the wolves'' Quackity asked, really not expecting a serious answer but he couldn’t stand the tension of silence, “You haven’t heard the legends?” Quackity rolled his eyes “Fine, don’t tell me I’ll just ask Slimecicle” Wilburs eyes narrowed and he sighed “Well, I guess it is a work of charity to educate” he smirked “There are stories of wolves, not the normal kind, the kind that exist only in the shadows of places no one cares to look. They shift into charming beasts, as they lead their prey into their arms and finally feast on the hearts of the victims who misjudged and mistrusted them.” “How exciting” Quackity bordely said.
They sat in the bar for a while before Quackity shooed Wilbur off the borders of Las Nevadas. He drunkenly walked home, swaying in the night's wind but he could’ve sworn that in the dark alleys of the glimmering buildings a pair of deep mahogany red eyes were stalking him. He collapsed into his bed, not bothering to even take a shower or anything. He woke that morning with a killer hangover and a craving for painkillers with a shot of vodka to wash it down, but against his vices he decided to be sober for the day. He walked out just to see Wilbur waiting outside the gates once again, “You really are a nuisance” Quackity palmed his hand through his hair, “Im your nuisance” Wilbur tried to sound endearing but it just sounded unpleasant to Quackitys ears. He let Wilbur in and walked around in the sweltering heat of the desert while Wilbur jabberd on about how great he is, “Didn’t you take a wash?” Wilbur said as he pinched his nose, Quackity suddenly turned slightly red “I was busy.” He said, Wilbur just smiled. “Whatever, wait outside” Quackity said before turning to walk inside his apartment only to see Wilburs foot stop the door, “Why not invite me in?” Wilbur asked, a strange glint in his eye. Quackity just shoved the door behind him, earning a satisfying yelp.
After a shower, and some new clothes, Quackity opened the door to see a sitting Wilbur tenderly holding his foot, “Come in.” Quackity blankly said. Wilbur beamed and strode inside the apartment “Wow it's a lot cleaner than I expected.” Quackity ignored the petty comment and decided to fix some coffee only for Wilbur to interrupt and say the most british-fuck thing ever “Tea please!”. Quackity rolled his eyes and fixed some no brand tea that definitely wasn’t a year old and expired. While he was pouring the tea into a mug, Wilbur sneaked up behind him, cornering and towering right behind Quackity, he tensed knowing Wilburs presence but not wanting to seem scared, he just acted as if Wilbur wasn’t there. “You smell like cherries.” Wilbur creepily noted, Quackity rolled his eyes, but his hands trembled, spilling hot tea on his hand causing him to flinch and drop the whole mug, shattering onto the ground. “Oh no!” Wilbur was quick to say as if he was expecting the reaction, Quackity out of instinct went to pick up the broken glass muttering something like “Sorry, didn’t mean too Schlatt.” Wilbur froze when he heard Schlatts name, his eyes softening.
“You should be more careful, you're burned, it's gonna leave a mark” Wilbur noted as he bandaged Quackitys hand, “It's fine” Quackity replied. They sat there for a moment until Wilbur spoke up again “You know what they say about the wolves?” Quackity looked up, his face too close to Wilburs once again. “What?” Quackity questioned, “They say that once you are kind, once you treat them like someone, once you let them into your home they finally decide to eat you.” “Thats fucked up, so only after you trust them they do that?” Quackity asked, “Yeah, it is fucked up” Wilbur smiled eerily. Quackity rested his head on Wilburs shoulder, suddenly startling Wilbur but then relaxing into the comfort. Quackity got up suddenly, taking Wilburs hand and pulling him up. “Want to drink?” Quackity smirked, “It’s like 10:00 AM” Wilbur smiled “Hell yeah I want to drink.”. Quackity set out two shot glasses, and poured some unrecognizable brand of vodka, he put on a record. They both sat on the counter of Quackitys kitchen, drinking and chuckling to themselves. “I feel like dancing,” Quackity drunkenly said as he took Wilburs hand and forcefully tugged him into a waltz-like dance. Quackity was terribly horrible at dancing, at least while drunk. “You were a constant in my life at one point” Quackity said quietly “So when you died, I was really lost. I felt like a puppet without strings.” Wilburs grip tightened around Quackitys waist as he pulled him closer.
Quackity turned from Wilburs shoulder, too, looking deeply into Wilburs eyes. Wilbur returned the eye contact, their breath mingling in the very little space between their lips. Wilbur leaned in first, his lips kissing Quackitys softly, unsurely and Quackity returned the kiss hungrily, and with Wilbur distracted Quackitys hands moved slowly to his neck and then the grip tightens, throwing Wilbur to the ground. Quackitys eyes unreadable as he smirked hearing the gurgling noise of Wilburs struggle to claw Quackitys grip off his neck. “You were right about most things, but one thing Wil. Wolves don’t only come out at night.” He smiled maliciously and sunk his teeth into Wilburs neck.
