It Happened in Sun Valley

Summary:

“You asked me to bring you here for our anniversary even though this is the place where we broke each other’s hearts beyond belief… the place where you reached your lowest in front of your closest friends, and the place where I saw with my own eyes what you were truly capable of.”

Three years after one of their worst nightmares, Fallon and Liam are back in Sun Valley. Will they finally make peace with what happened on those mountains? Will they be able to ever move forward from those events?

Chapter 1: let's go for a ride

Notes:

Hi, everyone! How are you? I'm sure many of you didn't think I would be back with a new story so soon but here I am!

Before you dive into this story, here are a few important things that you need to know:
- this story follows up the events of "On The Road" and it takes place about five months after their road trip.
- if you haven't finished reading it yet, don't worry. You still have a couple of weeks before you get to the chapter that really requires you to have read all of "On The Road".
- there is a song at the beginning of this chapter and for this story, we also have Fallon and Liam's outfits at the beginning of the scenes.
- last but not least, if you're a huge fan of my stories, I'm pretty sure you already know where this story is heading.

Enjoy!!!

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

It Happened In Sun Valley not so very long ago

There were sunbeams in the snow

I remember oh so clearly

That you nearly passed me by

“Fallon!” Liam shouted from the kitchen, already dressed in his navy blue streamlined pajama set with classic contrast piping as he moved around the kitchen in order to grab the iron ice bucket from one of the top cabinets.

The comfortable and warm set had been a gift from none other than the man who they pretty much considered a brother and at first, they had both thought that Sam was just messing around by giving them matching pajamas for an anniversary gift before the young couple flew across the country to celebrate their two complete years of marriage. However, they had certainly grown to love their gifts from the moment they tried them on, back on their first night at the most exclusive and luxurious cottage of the Sun Valley Resort, when they had fallen asleep wrapped in each other’s arms while wearing their brand new sleepwear set.

“Do you want the Plénitude 2 or the Vintage one?” He asked his wife, his voice loud as he walked towards the two cases of champagne that they had brought not only all the way from the East Coast but from their very own wine-cellar.

As far as Liam was concerned, Fallon was still up in the master bedroom, either removing her makeup or changing out of the outfit that she had worn for dinner, but he had to admit that she had been taking a lot longer than she normally would. After all, stripping out of his own dinner outfit and exiting the room in the pajama set with L. Ridley embroidered in white cursive letter over the chest patch pocket had taken him about five minutes, all whilst his wife had been gone for over twenty minutes already.

“Vintage is fine!” She responded all of a sudden, poking her head through the barely open door before rushing back into the luxurious room.

“What is taking you so long anyway, babe?” He couldn’t help but ask as he approached the staircase with the chosen champagne in hand. “Just come down so we can finally eat our dessert!” He exclaimed while returning to the spacious kitchen. “You didn’t let me order dessert back at the restaurant so we could have a more private and intimate dessert moment here and now you disappear… great,” he murmured to himself before letting out a heavy and frustrated sigh.

Once he settled the very expensive bottle of Dom Pérignon inside the shinny ice bucket, Liam proceeded to pull the fridge’s lower door open in order to grab all of the ice cubes necessary to fill the kitchen utensil. He knew how picky his wife could be regarding the temperature of her champagne and he wasn’t going to risk by having it any less to her liking, especially since the warmth provided by the cottage’s heater combined with the fire currently crackling in the living room’s fireplace could so easily make the bubbly drink disgustingly warm.

Turning around on his sock-cladded heels to grab not only the triple chocolate cake from the upper part of the refrigerator but also the bowl of strawberries and the can of whipped cream, he was quick to reach for the first two items. Soon, the act of running the tip of a strawberry over the chocolate frosting before guiding the juicy fruit up to his wife’s lips was the only thought in his mind and he couldn’t help but bite onto his bottom lip when all of his blood suddenly rushed south. What he didn’t anticipate though, was to close the fridge and turn back just in time for his ocean blue eyes to land on the woman who had stolen his heart exactly four years back.

Unable to fully or even coherently process the outfit that his wife was currently wearing, he failed to keep a strong grip on the white porcelain bowl that ended up crashing on the wooden floor at the sight of the stunning brunette. Perhaps he had been too naive to expect her to change into the pink lavender pajama set that featured ankle crop pants with tonal jacquard branding and contrast pining and a matching luxe silk top with the words F. Ridley embroidered in black cursive letter over the chest patch pocket, a detail that matched perfectly with the words on his pajama top, but he certainly wasn’t expecting to find her in that kind of outfit. At least not on the night before their anniversary.

“Well, well, well… now look at the mess you’ve made,” Fallon spoke teasingly, placing her right hand on her hips as she stared down at the fresh strawberries that had winded up in the middle of dozens of broken porcelain pieces.

Standing in front of him in a embroidery cupped bodysuit by Fleur du Mal, which she had purchased only a couple of weeks back for that romantic trip exactly, and her long brown hair cascading in beautiful waves, she tried her best not to laugh at the look of pure shock and utter surprise plastered on her husband’s face. For a moment, she could swear all color had left his body as his eyes widened and the blue orbs that she was so crazy for practically jumped out of their sockets. Although she knew that choice of outfit would have quite an effect on him, she didn’t think his reaction would be that rewardingly satisfying.

The black lacy piece featured the luxurious brand’s classic lily embroidery on underwire demi cups and body along with mesh paneled sides as well as a thong cut back, but what made him forget his own name was the garter straps attached to the bodysuit’s hem. An extremely naughty attribute which amped up the sex appeal of her outfit as it connected the tantalizing lingerie to a black seam stocking that ended on her favorite pair of heels, all whilst providing her with the perfect combination of chic and provocative. Suddenly, her legs looked longer than ever and her body looked like the most beautiful of all Greek Goddess sculptures.

“Fallon, what-” Liam began, failing to say any of the two words without gasping as he automatically crouched down on the floor to collect all of the strawberries and broken pieces of white porcelain.

“Am I wearing?” She was quick to finish his sentence. “Well, just something I thought my husband would enjoy for, you know,” she paused dramatically while glancing down at the man in front of her. “Our last night before we enter our third year of marriage,” she added nonchalantly. “Aren’t you going to say anything about your wife’s choice of outfit for tonight, Mr. Ridley?” She asked him.

“I don’t think I can form any sentences right now,” was all he managed to say.

“I believe you just did,” Fallon replied with a shrug, placing the red sole of her black Louboutin’s on top of his right hand in the most cautious of gestures once he bent over to reach for one of the sharpest pieces. “Careful, honey,” she smirked mischievously. “Or you might hurt yourself,” she murmured.

“Are you talking about this broken bowl?” He frowned, raising his chin to look up at his wife as he slowly collected the white broken pieces. “Or that outfit of yours?” He added provocatively.

“That highly depends on your point of view,” she responded. “After all, it’s not every night that you’re graced with your wife in such an intriguing outfit, am I right?” She continued, pausing briefly to run her tongue across her blood red top lip with the sole purpose of adding even more to her husband’s torture.

“It’s not.”

“Although I can’t help but feel slightly surprised  that you seem to have nothing to say about it,” Fallon commented while throwing him a fake and playful pout, alongside with her famous puppy eyes. “Because you know… this took a hell lot of work for you not to say a single thing about it, Mr. Ridley,” she informed him. “Unless you want to be punished for your actions?” She questioned before revealing a pair of gold plated stainless steel handcuff wristlets which he had absolutely no idea where she had retrieved it from. “You’ve already dropped our delicious strawberries on the floor… you don’t want anything else to go wrong tonight, do you?” She inquired, her tone serious as she waited for him to finish cleaning the mess that he had just made.

“No. No, I don’t,” Liam shook his head in response, swallowing hard as he fought against every fiber of his body that wanted nothing but to crawl towards her with the intention of crashing his mouth against her poorly covered core to take her right there. “But when did cuddling in front of the fireplace with dessert while watching a silly movie turn into bondage play, Mrs. Ridley?” He couldn’t help but ask as he moved the red fruit to a different bowl.

“Our anniversary is in less than two hours,” she pointed out.

As if I could ever forget. He thought to himself.

“Why wouldn’t cuddling in front of the fireplace with dessert while watching a silly movie turn into bondage play?” Fallon countered, firing his question right back at him before taking three steps forward with her hips swaying in slow motion. “I mean, I only plan on celebrating a two year anniversary once so I want to make sure we make the best of it,” she murmured, the words practically a hushed whisper against his ear as she closed the remaining distance between their bodies.

“I think you might kill your husband before you actually reach your two year anniversary, Mrs. Ridley,” he groaned while rolling his eyes at his wicked wife. “I’m sorry I dropped the strawberries. It won’t happen again,” he apologized, placing everything down on the marble counter before turning back towards her.

“At least it wasn’t my Dom,” she shrugged, blushing when he settled his hands on her hips. “Because we both know that you would be in big trouble had you dropped my favorite and very expensive champagne on the floor,” she added with a timid smile.

“Then it’s a great thing that I only dropped the strawberries, right?”

“You did just break a bowl,” Fallon commented, gasping when he tightened the grip of his fingers onto her skin in order to trap her between his own body and the wide kitchen counter. “Which you’re going to have to pay for, I’m sure,” she mentioned.

“That’s honestly the least of my concerns right now, Fallon,” he confessed.

“Oh, okay,” she mumbled, not so innocently. “What’s your biggest concern right now then, if I may ask?”

“Don’t pretend you don’t know, Mrs. Ridley,” Liam began, pressing his body further against her own in an attempt to show his wife exactly what kind of reaction her current outfit had brought out in him. “That lame act doesn’t really suit you, babe,” he whispered, his voice filled with lust and his eyes flooding with ultimate desire as he fidgeted with the end of the striking drop necklace crafted of 18k gold that adorned her neck and collarbone while featuring a contrast of high polish and sandblasted finishes. Inspired by the natural world, the Tiffany & Co. design captured the fluid movement of flowers, vines and leaves with a mix of expertly cut marquise diamonds, round brilliant stones that totaled over one carat and played off the light and accentuated the vine motif of the jewelry piece.

“I admit to nothing,” Fallon replied shortly. “Oh my God!” She screamed when she was so unexpectedly lifted off the floor by her husband’s incredibly strong arms.

“You may have your tricks, Fallon, but don’t forget that I have mine,” he reminded her, staring deeply into the bright blue of her eyes as he sat her down on the counter.

“I still admit to nothing,” she repeated. “So,” she paused dramatically, allowing her free hand to thread into the short strands of his dirty-blonde hair while the other one continued to hold onto the gold plated handcuffs. “Are we going to have dessert or what?” She asked her husband. “Because I believe that I was promised chocolate cake with strawberries and as much whipped cream as I want,” she reminded him.

“Well, Fallon, I don’t know about you but I’m about to have one hell of a dessert,” Liam murmured in the most flirtatious of tones as he leaned forward to capture her red lips in his.
