Legosi's life definitely had taken a turn for the worse.
Everything was mostly fine, however since Haru and he broke up he's had a little trouble getting back to his usual day-to-day.
It was an amicable breakup all things considered, they just realized their lives were taking different paths and it would be best to separate, but Legosi was still in the dumps.
"Legosi? Are you there?" Came the cheery voice from his favorite Labrador, Jack. Legosi turned at him and saw him looking at him with concern. They were eating out at the ramen place where Legosi works, them and the rest of the room 701 boys.
"Uh- yes, Jack I am fine... I was just zoning out," the wolf shrugged, trying to seem nonchalant.
"Ha! Yeah sure," Collot said before taking a swig of his rootbeer.
"Yeah man, we get that the breakup is still very recent, there's no need to hide it," said Durham, he was sitting next to Miguno with his arm around the Hyena's back, and Miguno nodded in agreement.
Legosi sighed and he leaned his maw on his hand, "You're right guys... I just feel like I'm starting to sound like a broken record by now..."
"Legosi! We're all here for you, I promise you can tell us anything without judgement!" Jack said as he smiled brightly at him.
Legosi smiled back, "Thanks guys," he murmured and then sipped at his own drink before he felt his phone vibrate with a notification.
The guys started talking within themselves so Legosi decided to check the message under the table.
Legosi's eyes went wide as saucers as he saw the sender's name.
"Louis..."
[Louis-sempai, 5:46p.m.]
Legosi, I heard the bad news.
I'm really sorry, both for what happened and for having spent so long without texting, it's been very busy in Horns.
Even though I've been the CEO for a year now I still haven't gotten used to this terrible schedule that i have to juggle along with university.
To compensate I'll make sure to see you as soon as possible.
How does tomorrow after 2 sound?
Legosi felt his tail start to swish behind him with no way to stop it but he was way too excited to care. He was going to be able to see Louis, and he was going to be able to see him tomorrow !
It's been some months since I last saw him... I wonder how he's doing lately... he bit his lip and decided to answer back.
[Me, 5:50 p.m.]
Louis-sempai!! It's been a while!
No need to apologize, I understand how busy it is.
Thankfully tomorrow I have morning shift so I'll definitely be able to go!! We could go eat something!
He was about to close the app but he got a response almost immediately.
[Louis-sempai, 5:52p.m.]
Dumb dog, why are you calling me sempai? We haven't been in school together for almost 2 years now.
Wonderful, I'll pick you up, there's a place nearby my university that I heard sells some great soy burgers.
Legosi chuckled, Louis-sempai hasn't changed much hasn't he... I'm glad.
[Me, 5:54p.m]
Hehe sorry Louis-sempai, force of habit!
Oh gee, you really don't need to pick me up, I'm sure I'd be able to find the way myself .
"Looks like someone is better at distracting Legosi than us," Miguno teased with a smirk, and it startled Legosi.
"Uh- huh? What do you mean Miguno?"
The guys across from Legosi laughed out loud, "Miguno means that you seem way happier talking to whoever it is on your phone right now," Durham explained.
"Who is it? Is it another sexy herbivore? Or maybe you're changing it up with a carnivore? Oooh, is it Juno?" The set of questions came from Collot, who even though his fur was covering his eyes Legosi still noticed his raised eyebrow.
Legosi was feeling a little uncomfortable but Jack sighed before he could say anything, "come on guys, no need to tease poor Legosi," he looked at the guys sternly, "besides, it's been just a month, I doubt Legosi here feels ready to try to pursue someone else."
Legosi looked at Jack with relief in his eyes, "Yeah, I'm just talking to Louis, it's nothing like that."
"What you need is some of that deer dick!" Voss exclaimed sitting on Collot's head, making Legosi get a full-body flush and the guys except Jack laugh.
"Voss!" Jack chastised the fennec with disapproval in his eyes.
Legosi decided to ignore the teasing and checked his phone again, relieved that Louis had responded so he could get away from the situation.
[Louis-sempai, 5:56 p.m.]
...You're ridiculous. For both things. I won't hear anymore whining, I'm picking you up you dumb dog.
...I promise it's fine, I don't mind picking you up. I feel like it might give us some more time to spend together.
Legosi's tail started wagging at that last message, Louis-sempai wants to spend time with me! he continued reading the messages.
[Louis-sempai, 5:58 p.m]
Don't make me wait too long though, or I'm coming up to your apartment, and I'm sure Ms. Sebun wouldn't mind taking me to your floor.
Legosi snorted and rolled his eyes.
[Me, 6:03p.m.]
Alright alright! Thank you for the ride.
... That's very sweet Louis-sempai, I hadn't thought of it like that, I'll make sure we get to spend a lot of time together!
Legosi suddenly had an idea, and while he wasn't sure it would be possible, he wanted to try anyway, it had been so long and he wanted to spend time with his best friend.
[Me, 6:04 p.m.]
Talking about going to my apartment and spending time together, how about you come over after we eat and we can watch a movie or something? I know my laptop isn't the best but...
After sending the message the waiter delivered the food to their table, so Legosi decided to pocket his phone for now. Thankfully the guys had completely forgotten about their teasing and were just talking about their respective colleges, so Legosi just listened quietly while he ate.
After they finished they decided to go back to their apartment since they had decided to room together after graduation. They invited Legosi to move in too but he was just too attached to the people in the hidden condo...
Once Legosi got back home he checked his phone and saw Louis had responded a while back.
[Louis-sempai, 6:06 P.M.]
Don't get too cheesy.
... Yes, I would love to hang out in your apartment afterwards.
However, I might have to go back to my own first, to get something done. But it should be quick.
Legosi's tail started wagging in excitement. Louis-sempai!! I'm so glad I'm gonna be able to see him! Legosi's face got taken over by a huge grin. He almost forgot to respond so he amended that.
[Me, 6:58 P.M.]
You got sappy first!
Great! That sounds fantastic! I'm so excited to see you, Louis-sempai.
He decided to pass the time the rest of the evening as he usually had been doing lately by watching a show on FurFlix trying to calm his heart which was moving as rapidly as his tail itself.
Man I must've really missed Louis, if this is how I react to making plans to see him soon. He's such an important friend to me. Legosi pondered as he smiled softly to himself.
Legosi was unusually jumpy throughout his shift at the Bebebe Udon Shop and his co-workers weren't sure what it could be.
Mika was trying to get Legosi's attention after he had taken an order to a client and her determination won in the end.
"What happened Mika-san?" Legosi said once he got near her.
"Well, I know we're just coworkers and all... But me and the others can't really help but notice your... Mood? Today?" Legosi noticed her caution, completely at odds with Mika the lion who invited him to the black market on his first day at work, "we just wanted to ask and make sure that everything is okay at home? You know, in case you need to use any of your vacation days I'm sure Sunaga-san would understand."
Legosi couldn't help but tilt his head in confusion, she said something similar a month ago after the breakup when Legosi was sulking around in the shop, and he just tried to convince her that everything was okay. This time however he had no idea what she was talking about until he realized he had been thinking about his hangout with Louis the whole day.
"Oh!" he slapped his face in understanding and made a placating motion with his hands, "not at all Mika-san, I've just been excited because I'm gonna see a friend I haven't seen in a while," the wolf smiled reassuringly and got a smile in return, however the lion's smile seemed way more teasing in nature.
"Ohhhh I see how it is, so it was a good kind of distracted," she put her hands on her hips as she leaned forward, "tell me, who's the lucky gal? I swear I won't tell."
Legosi furrowed his eyebrows, "Uhm, there's no lucky gal, it's just my best friend Louis from high school."
Mika straightened up and raised her eyebrows in surprise before furrowing them again, giving Legosi the same teasing grin from before, " just a friend Legosi? Come on."
The wolf felt a little uncomfortable, as if the lion knew something he didn't, "what do you mean? I'm very excited to see my friend."
Before Mika could retort however, a client moved up to the cash register, distracting Mika's attention away from the wolf, so he decided to just shrug it off and continue on with his waiter work.
Legosi's day passed by quickly and eternally slow at the same time. Whenever he was working he felt like an hour could pass in a minute, but the opposite was true when he had some time to get lost in thoughts, trying to imagine how his hangout with Louis was going to go... It was definitely a relief when finally the clock hit 12 o'clock and Legosi said quick goodbyes to all his co-workers, he noticed Mika looked like she wanted to say something to him, but he apologized as he was hurrying to finally get back home and didn't wanna stay too long.
He decided to get himself ready once he got home and to go through his closet in order to find the best clothes to wear. He felt as though he didn't wanna seem sloppy in front of his former sempai, he admired him too much for that.
He was about to open his door when he heard the trill of Sebun-san's voice beside him, "Oh, Legosi!" He turned to face her and saw her walking through the hallway with Zagwan.
"Hello Sebun-san, hello Zagwan-san!" he smiled softly, he was in a hurry but he didn't want to be rude.
"Legosi, my friend, Sebun-san and I were planning to eat out at one of my favorite seafood places, would you like to come?" Zagwan-san's calm voice made Legosi relax after his day at work, even to this day Legosi can't help but compare it to the ocean.
"I'm sorry Zagwan-san, Sebun-san, I already have plans," Legosi's ears flattened in apology, "I'm gonna meet up with a friend i haven't seen in a while!"
"Oh! That sounds wonderful," Sebun-san clapped her hands together in excitement, she tried to seem casual about it but Legosi noticed her change in demeanor, "I know it's been a rough month for you Legosi... So I think you deserve to spend a lot of time just having fun with your friends, it'll definitely help the process, I think," Legosi was glad to have Sebun-san as a neighbor, her older age definitely helped him as she seemed to be very wise, she felt almost like the older sister Legosi never had.
He still felt a little ashamed, however, he didn't like when people talked about his breakup it made him feel like... he was being pitied. But he never really dwelled much on it, as he knew people just wanted to be there for him.
"Thank you so much Sebun-san, I really appreciate your concern, I'll take your advice to heart,"
"I think Sebun-san is in the right, Legosi, you're a big strong wolf, you've been through worse hardships than heartbreak, I believe in your sturdiness and you'll get through this faster than you think." And there came Zagwan-san's wisdom as well, he felt really glad to have them as his friends.
"Thank you both, really, but I must get dressed! This is very important to me, see you later!" Legosi then hurried into his apartment, leaving Sebun and Zagwan to move along.
Legosi is embarrassed to admit that he sat in front of his apartment an hour before Louis was supposed to come pick him up, but what if he didn't notice it was time! But what if he tripped down the stairs and made Louis-sempai wait! That just wouldn't do.
Five minutes before 2 p.m., Louis called Legosi's phone.
"Hey, you dog, I'm gonna be there soon, you better start making your way to the entryway."
"Uh- haha, yeah! I'll make sure to get there, I'm not there yet definitely," Legosi lied terribly.
He could hear Louis sigh on the other side of the line, "Legosi, how long have you been waiting down there?"
"Uhm, since 1?" he scratched the back of his neck sheepishly.
He could feel that Louis was definitely pinching the bridge of his nose, but when he spoke, Legosi could swear he was grinning when he spoke, "you dumb dog."
The fondness attached to that silly nickname made Legosi's tail once again wag slowly, "uh, yeah, haha, sorry!" The wolf laughed nervously.
"Just wait there, I'll be there soon," once he finished he hung up, leaving Legosi back to his own thoughts, starting to feel nervous and excited again at the prospect of seeing Louis again after a while.
Thankfully those 5 minutes went by quickly because soon enough Legosi was gaping at the sleek black limousine that parked in front of the condo.
One of the windows rolled down and out came Louis, "come on in, don't keep me waiting now."
The wolf obviously obliged quickly and he found himself sitting next to Louis, who gave him a grin and a, "hey, it's been a while."
Before Legosi could say anything, the driver piped up cheerfully, "I'll give you some privacy, sir," and Louis thanked him before he rolled up the partition.
"Hey, you dumb dog, how have you been?" he sounded a bit softer, and Legosi felt like his own grin was gonna tear through his face.
"Can I hug you, Louis-sempai?" he asked, and all he got a response was an eye roll before the deer hugged him tightly.
"Of course you can hug me, there's no need to ask," Legosi quickly hugged him back, having trouble holding himself back from using his full force considering how happy he was.
"I missed you a lot!" He felt so glad to finally see Louis-sempai, his senses were getting overwhelmed with his scent and his hug but he didn't want to stop.
"I missed you too, Legosi," he said before he pulled back, "how have you been?"
"I've been doing... Okay, i think?" Legosi's ears flopped down, knowing that Louis was probably concerned, "it's been getting better, however, yesterday I hung out with the boys from 701," he smiled at the memory, "they've been trying to make some time with college and everything for us to meet more frequently."
"Well I'm really glad for that, that couldn't have been while I texted you, right...? I hope I didn't interrupt anything, you really didn't have to respond while you were hanging out with them."
"Yeah it was, but Louis-sempai! When I saw you sent me a message I got very excited! I couldn't wait to respond," Legosi said enthusiastically and he tightened his grip on Louis's arms, which he didn't realize he had been doing since after they separated from the hug and he sheepishly dropped the deer's arms and slid a little farther on the seat.
Louis just raised and eyebrow at the wolf's actions but moved on normally, "you're such a weird dog," the comment would've felt insulting if there wasn't a fond smile on the deer's face, then he looked the wolf up and down, "you look nicer than I remember you dressing, I was worried."
Louis's teasing made Legosi's face blush and he laughed nervously, "haha, yeah, I didn't wanna let Louis-sempai down," which got him another fond eye roll in response.
Once they got to the restaurant they climbed out of the car and got inside, thankfully there were quite a few free spots, and Louis led Legosi to a table for two next to a window and then went to make their order.
Legosi felt a little nervous being left alone, since he's so big he always brings attention to himself and it makes it very awkward to be in public spaces, he's gotten used to it over the years of course, but his awkwardness seems to be a constant.
"No need to look like you're going to have a job interview big guy, we're just eating lunch," Legosi jumped slightly on his seat at Louis' voice and he chuckled sheepishly.
"Sorry... I just hope people aren't feeling too scared to see me here, this place seems to be mostly filled with herbivores."
"So what?" Was Louis's nonchalant response, Legosi always felt so comforted by his way of thinking, "if anyone gives you trouble I'll make sure they fear me more than you," the deer continued with a smirk and Legosi just laughed, remembering Louis's days as the boss of the Shishigumi.
"You're so funny Louis-sempai, how have you been? I haven't asked yet," Legosi crossed his arms and leaned on the table, trying to hide his claws with his fur.
"Well... I've been okay, I guess, pretty boring if i gotta be honest," he sighs, "it's been pretty busy with both the company and university, thankfully the university staff know about my position so they've been pretty accommodating."
Legosi nods and hums in understanding, and just as he's done the server brings them their food and they both give their thanks and start digging in.
One bite in and Legosi lets out a guttural sound in satisfaction and he sees Louis' gaze turn dark for just one second, "wow, Louis-sempai this is... I didn't know it was so good," the deer laughs a little breathlessly in response.
"See? I told you it was good," Louis smirked triumphantly as he forked up his salad, "you should know by now I'm always right you mutt."
Legosi laughs and nods, "you're right Louis-sempai, you're very smart and clever, I'm very lucky to have you as my friend."
He saw Louis's face color a bit which he tried to hide behind his fork, "shut up, you dumb dog, don't get too sappy on me."
Legosi feels a slight thrill at being able to make Louis-sempai flustered, herbivores truly are so cute , for a moment he felt like it was weird that he thought that in regards to his friend, but it's just his fetish, right? That's just how he is.
"Also, stop calling me sempai! I'm not your upperclassman anymore," Louis sounded annoyed but there was a teasing glint in his eyes and Legosi just laughed and scratched the back of his neck sheepishly.
The rest of their hangout at the restaurant went by pretty smoothly, they talked about Legosi's job, about other ex-classmates from Cherryton (apparently Louis has bumped into Bill at his university more than he'd like to admit) and about Legosi's latest visit to Gosha.
Legosi definitely felt like some people looked at them weird every once in a while, but he was so excited talking to Louis that he never even cared.
Louis's Chauffeur was waiting for them once they left the restaurant, and once again left the partition up for privacy.
"Oh, right, Louis. I've been curious to ask," Louis's ears perked up, paying attention, "what is it you have to do at your house?"
"Oh yeah, I just have to do some stuff for college, it's no big deal," Louis waved it off with his hand.
Legosi scrunched up his eyebrows, "but... What if it takes you long? I don't want to make you rush through an assignment..."
Louis laughed shortly, wow , I really will never get tired of hearing that sound , "don't worry about it you big lug, I'll make sure to be there before 4, okay?"
Legosi checked his phone trying to seem casual and saw it was currently 2:40, "well, alright, if you say so Louis, I believe in your academic skills!"
Louis just smiled back before the driver rolled down the partition during a red light, "Louis-sama, we will arrive at Legosi-sama's residence soon," the boys both nodded in acknowledgement and the sheep driver gave them a thumbs up and a smile before looking back at the road.
Shortly after Legosi was climbing out of the car and saying goodbye to Louis for now, "I'll make sure to be quick, I promise, see you soon," Louis said with a smile and Legosi smiled back and waved at him before the deer rolled the window up.
