Work Text:
“You’re such a teacher’s pet.”
Marinette snorted softly, laughing at the ridiculousness of the statement. “Doing all my work on time doesn’t make me a teacher’s pet.”
“I’m calling bullshit,” argued Tim. He knew he was right, he just had to prove it, but he knew it. What other reason could there be?
He was going to prove it.
No one was going to stop him.
(Okay, he’d have to admit that stuff like rogue attacks and patrol would certainly slow him down. But he definitely would never let it stop him. He was used to working against rogues after all.)
“It’s not bullshit Tim,” she replied softly. “All I do in this class is the same as what I do in all my other classes. I pay attention and do all my work. That doesn’t make me a teacher’s pet in any other class, does it?”
“Well, no but-”
“But what?”
“But this is the only class where you get special treatment. The professor is always giving you extra credit assignments, picks you for every opportunity and always makes you stay after class to ‘chat’.”
“I can’t help that the dude is a bit of a creep. Honestly, it’s so awkward. Feels a bit like he has some odd crush on me. Makes me feel uncomfortable in his class,” she admitted uncomfortably.
Tim stiffened up.
“Wait a minute,” she murmured upon seeing his reaction. “Are you jealous?”
“What? No,” Tim spluttered. “Why would you think that?”
“Oh my god. You so are.”
“Alright, fine. I was perhaps a little jealous, but all I heard as I walked in the halls was that you were sleeping with our professor and it made me feel sick.”
“Oh Timmy,” she said soothingly, bringing him in for a hug. “I’m dating you, never forget that. And I would never cheat on you. I promise.”
“Thanks.”
“So you thought you could mess with Mrs. Dupain-Cheng? Trying to date her?” Disgust dripped like poison off the vigilantes lips as he looked at the professor.
The professor who was currently hanging by his feet off of Wayne tower, tied up so he couldn’t wiggle out nor make a noise, even though he continued trying to scream for mercy.
Red Robin narrowed his eyes with a smirk, “Well, we’re vigilantes, not heroes, for a reason.”
Red Robin stepped to the side, another figure coming up to flank him.
“I got it from here replacement,” Red Hood confirmed as his eyes stayed focused on the shiny gun he was polishing. “No worries. I’ll have lots of fun.”
The school didn’t quite know what to think when the professor didn’t come in to teach the next day. He hadn’t phoned in sick or anything so they had no idea where he could be.
They got their answer later that day.
Someone Red Hood had dropped off his head in the Principal’s office during the lunch break. The Principal had gone outside to make sure the students didn’t start any fights, and when he’d gone back into his office he’d had the fright of his life.
There was a duffel day on his desk, and when he opened it he saw the decapitated head of his missing professor. And a note.
God. There was a note there too.
Next time, don’t hire creeps - Red Hood
Marinette stormed up to Tim, him having at least some will to live, shrunk back under her glare.
“Did you or did you not have any part to play in the professors murder?”
Tim held up his hands, “Mari…”
“Don’t you ‘Mari’ me,” Marinette hissed.
Tim pouted, “But…”
“He doesn’t deserve death!” Marinette was angry, but they were still in school so she kept her angry whisper-yelling down so no one outside the empty classroom would hear.
“First off, I didn’t think Jason would take it that far…”
“So you admit you were part of it.”
“He was trying to date you! A teacher! An older man who if he didn’t get what he wanted, do you really think he’d just let it go?!?”
Mari paused in her angry rant. Tim sighed as his head sank.
“I … I just love you so much. I can’t let anything bad happen to you…”
Marinette stepped forward and engulfed him in a hug.
“You know I love you Tim,” Marinette whispered, “but next time, such drastic measures should be the last thing you try.”
Tim nodded against her as he held her tight to him.
“So … Jason was a part of this as well?” Mari lifted a brow as she questioned.
Tim nodded but didn’t otherwise say anything. He was too busy enjoying having the girl he loved so close to him, knowing she was safe.
Jason was going to regret his choice, Marinette had decided. He could have just have easily have threaten the stupid teacher, rather than killing him. Sure, the old dude was a creep, but Marinette had dealt with a lot of creeps.
Tim was going to regret his choices too. Marinette had also decided that too.
“I’m not saying that I’m not grateful that you both care about me enough to try to deal with this for me,” she started as she had them sit down in the Wayne Manor cinema room, where she had a PowerPoint presentation set up. “But I can deal with this sort of stuff on my own.”
“We just wanted to make sure you were safe,” Tim argued, knowing that they’d already talked this through and Marinette wasn’t really too mad.
Jason nodded along to Tim’s words.
“And I appreciate that,” she told them with hints of a smile showing on her face. “Now, let’s go through this presentation I prepared to show you why I can deal with it on my own in the future. Is that okay with everybody?”
“Yep.”
“Good with me.”
“Alrighty then,” she said, setting the first slide up. She started to read off the PowerPoint, “ Reasons why Marinette Dupain-Cheng can deal with creeps on her own .”
She clicked the next slide. “ Reason 1: She is a female and nearly all females are harassed in their lifetime .”
Jason nodded, “And that’s why all creeps get the same treatment from me.”
Tim gave his brother a horrified look.
“ Reason 2: ,” Marinette moved onto the next slide, “ She is a fucking superhero who protected an entire city with very limited help from the age of thirteen !”
She clicked again, only to get a black screen. “Oh look, that’s the end. Thank you for listening.”
Tim sighed, “I suppose that’s fair. I’m sorry. We’ll try and let you deal with it by yourself if anything happens again.”
“Thank you,” she responded. “I can take care of myself after all.”
“I make no promises,” admitted Jason, “but I shall try.”
“And that’s all I ask for.”
