He could not decide if he held the color green in affection or resentment. He clearly remembered his decision to despise it and everything related.
And yet, the desperation Uchiha Sasuke felt to chance a glance at those jade eyes beneath thick pink lashes could not be explained. He wanted those eyes on him, seeking him out as if they were sight starved.
But alas, they remained on the pale curtlary holding the soup, occasionally lifting to meet the ocean blues of Lord Uzumaki, a pretty smile appearing on those pretty lips.
The young Duke of Sora-ku knew his mother was ecstatic to have Lord Uzumaki and his family over for an informal dinner. Sasuke certainly had no qualms over the visit until he saw the beautiful Miss Haruno entering the Uchiha estate on his friend's arm.
It should not bother him.
After all, they were intended. Naruto's intention to marry the pink haired young woman had been a surprise to Sasuke, when he had returned from abroad to assume the title of Duke. The untimely death of the elder Uchiha heir had forced Sasuke out of the Fire Country leaving behind a few somethings that seemed impossible to retrieve now.
Haruno Sakura's heart was perhaps the most important among them.
Not once had she made an effort to hold a conversation with him throughout the evening. His chest burned upon witnessing the blush on her creamy cheeks everytime Naruto whispered something to her.
Once upon a time those blushes emerged because of him. Once upon a time her eyes full of love and bright smiles were for him. Once upon a time it was his hand clasped within hers. And once upon a time Miss Haruno Sakura belonged to him.
Now all that remained were bitter regrets and a hunger so profound that it left the dark haired man breathless.
But it did not matter for in two weeks she was to be engaged.
Sasuke remembered the year when he was at the age of five and twenty, free of burden of the dukedom, and had first laid his eyes upon the fair debutante. Never had he come across such a fine specimen of the opposite gender. Her unusual coral pink hair and spring green eyes had left the ton utterly besotted. Not one soul objected when Queen Tsunade named her the belle of the season.
He had burned. He could swear he had burned the moment their eyes met, the moment he laid his hands on her waist and back in the last waltz of the night.
Sasuke wondered if she remembered that night. Their story had started that day, the ball where the first page began. And now four years later, this evening it was going to end.
It should have been that simple. He had made his resolve to finally let her go. And he was going to.
But then Uchiha Sasuke just had to see it.
See the way Sakura's pretty smile vanished from her pretty face and the most miserable expression crossed her soft feature the moment Lord Uzumaki turned away from her.
She looked defeated and oh so sad and still his heart pounded with the most thrilling exhilaration. A little corner in his mind shamed him for it but he paid it no heed. All was forgotten when she looked up and her jade eyes clashed with the onyx of his own.
Just like the night four years prior, her gaze pierced his soul.
He took deliberate slow steps making certain she would not flee. In half agony; for she was not his to console, not anymore and half hope; for he hoped she would let him once more, he took her hand relishing the way her body shivered under his touch. The way she allowed him to lead her away. The soft gasp as he locked the door behind them.
"My Lord… why would you-?" He could not let her finish. Not when her tempting lips looked so inviting.
They crashed against the bookshelf his father adored, his lips pressing firmly on hers and demanded entrance to the sacred place of her mouth. His hands roamed on her petite body, reacquainting themselves with softness that was Haruno Sakura.
Sasuke knew what he was doing was wrong. It was a betrayal to his closest friend who stood with him through thick and thin. He was ruining her, by running his lips over her delectable neck in frenzied touches. The dark thoughts clogged his mind and the only thing that mattered was that she was not pushing him away.
The breathy moan and the sweet Sasuke-kun had him growling like an animal, his gentlemanly etiquettes long forgotten.
Years. It had been years since he had heard his name uttered in this voice. He had become Lord Uchiha when he returned. Sakura's tone so polite and distant everytime she greeted him.
Oh how much he loathed that title!
He dragged his mouth across hers, again and again, and when her lips were open and damp, he sealed them with his. They descended into the heart of a wild roaring pleasure Sasuke had never known before. Which was ironic since they had gone this very path many more times. His pulse began a hard, rolling drum, the heat thickening between every beat. He felt her hips pressing tentatively against his, cradling the rigid shape of his arousal, bundling closer. But still he didn't move, only let her cuddle and brush against him until he was tense and fiercely aroused.
Bending over her, Sasuke kissed her throat. There was a series of quick tugs at the front of her gown, and the edges of the garment parted revealing peach skin flushed with heat of their trust. With a wordless sound he coaxed her to relax, his hand gliding from her hips to her chest. His parted lips brushed the naked tip of her breast, toying with the hardening bud, his tongue skimming wetly. She brought her hands to his hair, tangling her fingers in the ebony locks, trying to hold him to her. His mouth closed over her peak, tugging lightly until she quivered and tried to squirm, unnerved by the feeling that she was being driven to the brink of some new sensation altogether.
More. He wanted more.
He felt weak and brutal at the same time, desire pumping through him. Nothing mattered except getting inside her . . . he had to have her or die. As Sasuke's mouth possessed the pink haired woman, he reached farther between her thighs, forcing them to part. He found the tender pleats of her sex. Parting the softness, he massaged until he found wetness, and slid two fingers into the supple heat of her. Gasping against his mouth, she strained higher on her toes. He held her like that, tightly impaled on his fingers as he kissed her. Sasuke took delight in the soft gasps of pleasure that left her mouth as Sakura arched for him, both driven with a long forgotten desire.
Knock. Knock.
They both froze upon hearing the sound on the other side of the door, the haze of lust leaving them.
"Miss Haruno, are you in there?" Lord Uzumaki's voice echoed casually.
The Duke saw as reality of their act dawned on the young woman, her lips parting and eyes widening in horror. Sakura quickly pulled his hand from between her legs as she pushed to get away from him.
Her eyes were still brimming with desire which were shadowed by horror, guilt and… longing. Sasuke felt his heart thrum at one emotion and made to pull her back into his arms but she stepped away one hand tugging at her bodice over her breast and the other trying to smoothen the creases caused by his wandering hands.
"This meant nothing!" Sakura whispered, which was more to herself than him. "Nothing"
He stood there as she went out, sweetly greeting Uzumaki and scoffed at her excuse of fixing her gown. The fool of an earl seemed to believe her excuse, their footsteps fading as he led her back to Hall.
The brandy soothed his nerves, the golden liquor glinting in the minimum light. For months Lord Uchiha had despaired over losing his lady love. Had never imagined he would be able to hold her again. But that time was over. No more would he sulk, consuming alcohol bitterly.
This meant nothing! She had said.
Oh but Miss Haruno was wrong. This meant everything. Now he knew she wanted him as much. She could not possibly have thought to hide her feelings and wants from him. And she was yet to be engaged to Lord Uzumaki.
Uchiha Sasuke had two weeks to take back her heart. And he would be damned to hell if lets her get away.
