Work Header

4am

Summary:

It was a usual night in your new reality of life, staying up late and waiting for Jesse to get home with your boyfriend Brandon.

Notes:

I still haven't finished watching Breaking Bad. I'm about halfway through season 4 and I just want Jesse to be happy, so I wrote this. I am absolutely not immune to Jesse and his idiot friends.

Work Text:

It’s late, two thirty in the morning since the last time you checked your phone. Another yawn comes from you as you snuggle deeper into the sheets that were wrapped around your shoulder, your hand instinctively trailing over to the still warm empty space beside you on the bed.

You could hear the clinking of a ceramic mug and the shuffling of Brandon’s feet as he walked back up the stairs.

He walks into the room slowly, scratching the back of his head as he yawns. The mug is carefully set on the nightstand before he kneels onto the bed, causing it to sink as he leans over you with a tired smile. He bends down and gives you a quick kiss, an almost love struck look in his eyes as he stares down at your cocooned self.

“I made tea, think I fucked it, though.” He said almost in a whisper, spinning around to grab the mug and sit up against his pillows, grabbing the remote that had wedged itself half under your blanketed thigh.

The TV across the room flickers on, some rom-com from the 70s playing loudly as soon as the signal registers.

“Did you steep it too long?” You ask after a minute, realizing you didn’t respond to him. “The tea.”

Brandon cringes as he takes a sip, “You wanna taste?”

You sit up, the duvet falling from your shoulder revealing one of the many shirts you’ve stolen from Brandon and Jesse during your relationship with them. He hands the mug to you gently, making sure it doesn’t spill onto the freshly cleaned sheets, watching as you bring it to your lips, cautious of the heat.

The taste of the tea is almost soapy on your tongue, pungent even, causing you to cringe as well.

“Oh yeah, that’s not right.” You tell him with a light chuckle.

“Man, why is tea always such a bitch to make?” Brandon asks as he takes the mug back from your hand. “I thought ten minutes would be enough.”

“I think the tea we have in the cabinet only needs to be in water for, like, five minutes.”

You can’t exactly blame him though, you used to do the same thing before you actually started drinking the stuff, steeping too long and not reading the back of the boxes. It drew you away from the drink for a while before you figured out your problem.

Brandon shakes his head to himself, setting the mug back down on the nightstand to be forgotten until later in the day when he wakes up.

“What’re you feelin’ tonight babe?” He asks, throwing his arm over your shoulder and bringing you closer to snuggle up against his side, “You feelin’ like a horror? Or maybe some- uh Grey’s Anatomy? Nah…” He continues flicking through the channel guide, “Oh shit, Supernatural.” He mutters quietly before continuing his search.

“Rob & Big.” You point out once MTV comes into view.

“Oh hells yes!” He switches the channel over quickly and sets the remote back down between the two of you.

The both of you watch the show commenting on little bits here and there, laughing together and occasionally checking the time to see it was almost three forty. Jesse should be home any minute now.

Part of you couldn’t help the anxious feeling rising in your throat as you watched another minute tick by. No calls, no texts. No real sign to tell you that he was even okay.

“Yo.” A voice cut through your rising paranoia, “You guys didn’t have to stay up.”

Jesse smiled at the two of you, dropping his bag down on the wooden floor before kicking off his shoes and removing his jacket. He glanced over at the TV while unbuckling his belt, a quiet chuckle coming from him when Rob falls from his skateboard onto the halfpipe.

His jacket and pants are thrown onto a pile of clothes on the chair that was pushed into the corner of the room, serving as a reminder to do the laundry soon, like, tomorrow.

The very end of the bed dips under Jesse’s weight as he crawls in between both you and Brandon. A sigh falls from his lips as his sore back adjusts to the bed’s cushion.

He glanced over at your first, his hand coming to cradle your jaw and bringing you in for a soft greeting kiss. His eyes were lidded when he pulled away, smiling softly before turning towards Brandon and doing the same with him.

“What’d you guys do today?” Jesse asks as he brings you closer much like Brandon had earlier, inviting you to cuddle up against him.

“Not much, we went to the store, got lunch with Pete.” You shrug, watching the credits start to roll at the bottom of the screen as the show starts to draw to a close.

“Oh fuck yes.” You say once the commercials stop and the next program is announced.

The intro to the first Jackass movie starts playing after a few commercials, a giant shopping cart full of the cast rolling on screen from a wall of fog. Fists were flying as the casts’ names were being displayed on the screen. It was a fast paced shit-show, both literally and figuratively, and you’ve been effortlessly drawn to it since the start.

The first stunt begins, with Johnny Knoxville entering the car he just rented into a demolition derby. The wheel of another car cracking through the windshield, merely inches away from his head.

The three of you continue to watch, vocally groaning or laughing. Eventually it gets to the part in the movie where Bam Margera decides to put an alligator inside the kitchen of his home, leaving it for his mom and dad to find. It wasn’t unusual or odd to watch his family fall victim to his shenanigans.

“Okay, is it just me or does Brandon kinda look like Bam.” You voice out loud once Bam shows up on screen, wearing a deep red button up and black coat quietly laughing at his mother’s freak out.

Jesse snorts and squints a little once he’s shown briefly on screen again.

"What?! I don't look anything like him!" Brandon says, leaning forward from where he was still sitting against his pillows so he can look at you.

"Yes you do! I mean, come on, Jesse you gotta defend me on this."

"You want me to agree with you that Brandon looks like Bam from Jackass?" His voice was laced with amusement, glancing over at Brandon then to the tv screen.

“I don’t!” Brandon argues.

"You totally do!" You leaned over Jesse to lightly shove Brandon, the taller man’s fingers wrapping around your wrist softly as he laughed. “It’s not an insult! Bam is hot as fuck!”

Jesse shrugs, “I can kinda see it.” He smirks over at your boyfriend who’s eyes widen a little.

“I can’t believe you’d betray me like this.” Brandon feigns offense, falling back against his pillows.

You couldn’t help but let out a victory “Hah!”

“You’re so lucky Jesse’s between us, cause you wouldn’t stand a chance against me, baby.” Brandon jokes while lightly hitting his own chest, wiggling his eyebrows a little, his hand reaching across Jesse to lace your fingers with his.

You snort, “Oh is that right? I could fuckin’ take you, dude.” You point at him from the hand he’s holding, narrowing your eyes with a smirk.

After a few minutes of jokingly going back and forth you settle back against Jesse, and the feeling of Brandon’s thumb lazily stroking your hand.

Jesse’s arm hugged you against his chest tighter, and Brandon’s hand squeezed yours gently.

You felt your heart swell in your chest when you looked up at the two of them. Jesse dipped his head down for another kiss, his lips were soft and warm against yours, gentle and loving as he pulled you closer. Your eyes flutter open as you separate, glancing over to Brandon and meeting his stare.

“What? You want some too?” You jokingly ask, already knowing the answer.

“Fuck yeah I do!” He says enthusiastically, pulling you in for a brief kiss before pulling away with a wink before swooping down to capture Jesse’s lips too.

You feel Jesse’s chest rumble against you as he chuckles, pulling away from Brandon with a grin, shaking his head a little as you all settle back down against each other. The movie continued as if nothing happened, the cackles of the Jackass crew echoing through your shared bedroom.
