It all really happened slowly, building up over the years.
Hell, if you had asked Lied, they wouldn’t even see this outcome happening at all! Iruma was a good friend, sure he had his quirks and eccentricities with all the absolute bullshit he gets up to, but that’s precisely why Lied enjoyed being friends with Iruma!
It was always a refreshing breath of fresh air, to be honest. Demons were proud people. Even as shy as they may be, they always have something to take pride in, whether it be their bloodline ability, their looks, grades, or even anything they can think of in the underworld.
And as much as it was great to have confidence in yourself, there always came the pompous, arrogant jerks. So many of those types were at Lied’s old school, and there were still many in Babylls.
So Iruma just being so humble at everything he has reasons to be proud of, was a novelty.
And now that they were moving up from third years to fourth years just tomorrow night, he had taken time to just reflect over their freshman years and reflect on how far he’s grown, how far that everyone had grown.
From the day Royal One happened, since the training he had gotten from their mentors, the harvest festival, everything so far.. Everyday, he’d see the other flourish more and more, gaining confidence.
Seeing him from a stuttering, shy mess; to a friendly demon who’d just wish the best for everyone, but still being hesitant to fully open up; and to someone who’d loudly proclaim “I’ll have your back!” while they do everything they can to bring happiness to the people around them.
Iruma grew to be someone who acted like their leader for the misfits. Sure, there were other people who’d take charge more effectively than Iruma if it comes to direct, raw battle and power. More effective with their commands and strategies, so much more.
And yet, it was Iruma.
Lied knew the reason why. Iruma was the glue, the one who binded everyone together. Back in their first years, they all had gotten along well. But ever since they all teamed up together to achieve an impossible looking goal to acquire Royal One, and had to work extensively together?
They felt like a team!
One, cohesive unit who’d be there for each other. And moments and situations like that only came more and more frequently than Lied had expected.
And unknowingly just like that, he had fallen.
“BUT WHY THOUGH?!?!”
Lied slammed his head on the desk.
“When did these even happen? Or start?! No, no, no. Maybe I’m just misunderstanding myself. Because there’s no way! I can’t believe it! I.. I need an expert for this. Tell me that what I’m feeling is actually some misplaced admiration ahahahah.”
And Lied knew just who he had to ask for help.
Grabbing the phone haphazardly on the table, he opened it up and began speaking with the only one who knew who could have helped him in this current situation.

It was Elizabetta Ix. Lied’s past crush, who had turned him down in the end sadly. The girl said she wanted to wait until she finished school to get into a committed relationship. Which was, fair enough.
Though, unexpectedly they grew pretty close as friends! Hah, who would have thought? (They went out shopping for dresses and ribbons together on the weekends! So many dresses now in Lied’s closet..)
