Chapter Text
The wind blew fiercely through the trees as the moon rose slowly into the sky, over the village of Godric’s Hollow on this cold Halloween night. The only source of light from this small town were a couple of street lamps and the rays of moonlight. Owls, raccoons, and other nocturnal animals scurried through the empty streets, as most the inhabitants were sleeping soundly.
However, not all was well for everyone in this small town. From the shadows of an alley, a dark, cloaked figure emerged. Had anyone been awake to witness this figure, chills would have run down their spines and a sense of fear would have struck them dead.
The figure began to make his way down the still, quiet street as he searched for his destination. Anyone watching would have been puzzled as to where this man was going, for to them the address didn’t exist. But that’s what happens when one's house is placed under the Fidelius Charm.
As the man looked around, his cold, snake-like eyes finally laid upon his destination. The home of James and Lily Potter. The home of the child the figure was looking for. ‘Time for me to rid this world of the only one prophesied to end me.’ The figure thought. ‘Soon, no one shall be able to stop Lord Voldemort.’
Voldemort smiled, his twisted evil smile. As he approached the Potter’s home. The gate magically opened as Voldemort entered the property. As he drew closer to the house, he heard voices.
“Lily! It’s him! He found us!” A male voice shouted from inside the house.
“What?!? No!!! What do we do?!” A female voice, Lily, asked, panicking.
“Take Harry and leave! Get as far away from here as possible! I’ll hold him back!” the male responded
Voldemort laughed. ‘As if someone could ever stand up to my power.’
“No! James, I won't leave you!” Lily shouted.
Voldemort walked up the steps of the house as he pulled out his wand.
“LILY! GO! NOW!”
‘Time to end this.’ the dark lord thought, as he cast Alohomora on the lock.
The door swung open…

“AVADA KEDAVRA!
Meanwhile…
Up in the skies just a little ways away from Godric’s Hollow, a green, white, and purple helicopter with large faces of a creepy clown was seen flying away from a large black, jet that was shaped in the form of a bat. The crazy clown helicopter was owned by none of them, The Joker, Gotham City’s very own Clown Prince of Crime. While the jet, or more commonly known as, The Batwing, was owned by Gotham’s very own Dark Knight… The Batman.
Joker had decided Gotham wasn’t worth his “fun games” anymore, and traveled to London, to cause some bigger trouble. Luckily, Batman had gotten word of his arch-enemy’s plan and had arrived in London just in time to stop him before he caused any severe damage. Unfortunately, Joker had an escape plan, which led to this very moment for the Dark Knight.
“Try and catch me Batman! HAHAHAHAHA” The clown shouted.
The two nemeses flew through the night sky, over trees and rivers.
As the chase continued, Batman fired several missile-like projectiles straight at the Joker’s copter. The pilot of the helicopter was definitely decent, for he weaved between all the incoming missiles, as they exploded around the copter.
Joker laughed his insane clown laugh. “Is that all you got, Batsy!” he yelled from the passenger area of his copter. “You’ll have to do better than that! HAHAHAHAHAHA!”
Batman glared from the cockpit of the Batwing, as he continued chasing the Joker.
Joker turned to the rest of his henchmen as the pilot performed some crazy maneuvers to try and lose Batman.
“What are we gonna do boss?” One of them asked.
“Yeah, what if the Bat catches us?” another asked, shaking in fear. This guy was newer to Joker’s ranks, and was terrified of the thought of being caught by Batman.
Joker gave his sadistic grin. “Oh, I have an idea on how to get rid of the little bat problem.” he said, as he pulled a large bazooka from under the helicopter seat.
Back in the cockpit of the Batwing, Batman watched as his screen showed his targeting computer aimed at the helicopter. “Come on, come on.” he whispered.
Finally, his computer got a lock on the copter. But just before he could fire, he heard Joker’s voice over his systems. “Hey Batman! Get a load of this!”
Batman looked up to Joker holding his bazooka and aiming right at him. Batman’s eyes widened. “So long Bats!” Joker said, and with that he fired.
Batman swerved the Batwing to the side, but unfortunately, the missile hit the jet’s wing and exploded upon making contact. The Batwing was then sent in a downward spiral toward the ground below as Batman tried to regain control.
Joker and his men watched as the Batwing fell out of sight through the trees. Joker laughed as he stored his bazooka back under his seat. “Adios Bats! HAHAHAHAHA!”
“Um sir, why are you saying goodbye in Spanish, when we’re in England?” One of the goons asked.
Joker stopped laughing and frowned, as he slapped his forehead. “Ugh, I can’t with this guy.” he said, as they all flew back toward the United States and Gotham.
Down below, smoke was rising from the crash sight of the Batwing. The cockpit opened as Batman stepped out to observe the damage to his plane. The damage wasn’t as severe as Batman had expected, which was fortunate. But, as Batman continued his search he realized the explosion had knocked some of his systems offline, which included the GPS.
“Dang it!” Batman whispered to himself, frustrated.
He stood up and jumped down from the plane. He looked around his surroundings, seeing a small village a little ways off in the distance. ‘Maybe there’s something I can use there to fix the navigation system.’ he thought, as he made his way toward the small town.
Once he was there, he noticed how quiet and deserted it looked. All the lights were off in the houses giving the Dark Knight a general idea on how late it was. ‘It seems quiet…’ Batman thought. ‘Too quie-’
“AVADA KEDAVRA!”
Surprised by the sudden shout, Batman turned around as a flash of light emitted from out of nowhere. As the light dissipated, Batman noticed a house he hadn’t seen before during his original observation. ‘Where did that come from?’ he asked himself.
The house looked like most of the houses he had previously seen, except for one major difference. It was missing a section of its roof.
Batman approached this mysterious house wondering what had happened to it. He searched around him wondering if anyone had woken up from the shout and blast of light. But, it seemed to him that nobody besides himself had noticed.
The Bat decided to go investigate the house. As he stepped inside he noticed that this house wasn’t uninhabited. Or… it hadn’t been. He walked over and knelt down next to the body of what he guessed was a young 20 year old man, with large round glasses and shaggy black hair. He was dressed in some kind of robe and was holding a small stick in his right hand.
Batman placed two of right hand fingers on the man’s neck. There wasn’t a pulse. The man was dead. But, what confused Batman, was that there wasn’t any evidence on how. The man seemed perfectly healthy from what he could tell. ‘What happened here?’ he asked.
He stood up from where he had knelt down, when suddenly, he heard, “WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!”
Batman froze.
“WAAAAAAAAAAAAA!”
‘That sounds like…’ Batman began to think,
“WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!”
“A BABY!”
Batman raced up the stairs of the house, following the sound of the baby’s wails. He jumped up the last few steps before barging through the door, the baby’s sounds were coming from. He froze at what he saw.
He looked around the room and noticed it was where the roof was missing. Everything around the room was a complete disaster. Wood was splintered everywhere, glass littered the floor, and large bricks were smashed all around the room.
As Batman entered the room, he heard coughing. He looked around and found a woman on the floor. He rushed over to her. She was laying on her side and seemed to be holding her stomach. Batman knelt down next to the woman and turned her over. The woman had long red hair with beautiful green eyes. He looked toward her stomach and noticed it was bleeding. There was a large gash across her torso. ‘She must have been hit by something.’ he thought, applying pressure to the wound.
The woman was looking directly at him, with wonder and confusion in her eyes. She watched as he tried to stop the blood flow from her wound. She placed her hands on his. “Stop,” she said, her voice hoarse and weak, “It’s too late.”
Batman looked at her. “I can’t just let you die,” he said.
Lily looked up into the masked man’s eyes. “Please… promise me something.”
“What?” Batman asked.
Lily looked away from him and toward a small infant in a crib. “Please protect him.”
Batman followed her eyes toward the small child as it watched behind the bars of his crib. “Please protect Harry.” she said, “Promise me you’ll protect him.”
Batman looked at the dying mother and her son, Harry. He took off his mask and looked at Lily. “I promise.”
Lily smiled as tears ran down her face. “Thank you.” she whispered.
And with that, Lily’s arms went limp, as her eyes closed, never to open again.
Bruce stood from Lily and bowed his head in sorrow. He heard whimpering from behind him as he looked at the child whose lip was trembling. Bruce walked over to the small child and picked him up cradling him. Harry began to let the tears loose as he sobbed into Bruce’s shoulder. Bruce’s own eyes watered at this poor child’s situation.
As he held the child close he whispered into his ear. “I promise Harry. I promise I’m gonna take care of you.” he said.
Harry snuggled closer into Bruce as he continued to cry. Eventually, the baby fell asleep, tired from all the crying he had just done. Bruce held him close, as he pulled his mask back over his face. ‘No one is gonna to hurt you Harry. I’ll make sure of that.’
Batman held Harry close as he started toward the stairs. But stopped suddenly, when he heard a sound. It sounded like someone stomping their feet but much, much louder. Batman started backing up, cradling Harry in his arms, as he saw the silhouette of a figure approaching from the stairs.
As the figure walked up the stairs to the second floor, Batman took notice of how large this man was. He looked like a small giant with a large and bushy black beard covering most of his face. He was carrying an umbrella, but apart from that had no visible weapons on him. As the giant reached the top of the stairs, he finally seemed to realize he wasn’t alone in the house. He looked up toward Batman. Batman took notice of the tears in the giant's eyes. “What are you doing here?!” The giant boomed, “Who are you?”
Batman continued walking back, as he shifted Harry in his arms. The giant noticed the slight movement of the man in front of him and saw what he held in his arms. “Harry Potter,” he said.
He looked back at Batman. “Thanks for looking after Harry, but I’m gonna need to take him from ya.” he said, holding his arms out to take the baby.
But, just as he was about to take him, Batman stepped away from him. “Over my dead body.” he said, holding Harry close.
The giant was shocked at being denied possession of the child. He shook his head and took a step toward Batman. “Now look here mister, Professor Dumbledore gave me specific instructions to take Harry to him.” he said, thinking that would help him get Harry.
“I don’t care what this, Dumbledore said,” Batman replied, “this baby is staying with me.”
The giant sighed. “You leave me no choice then.”
And with that said, the giant lunged at the Dark Knight. He was surprised, however, when he missed his target and tripped as a rope wrapped around his feet. “What?” he asked.
Batman watched as the giant fell to the floor, a bat coil, wrapped around his legs. Taking his chance to escape the giant, Batman raced for the stairs and out of the house. As he exited the house, he was caught in some kind of spotlight. He looked up to see what looked like a flying motorcycle flying towards him. ‘This is turning into one strange night.’ he said, running from the motorcycle and the passenger it carried.
The passenger on top of the motorcycle landed the bike and watched as the dark bat-like figure retreated into the woods. “Hey!” he called out, running after him, “Come back here!”
Batman noticed the man chasing him and continued his run toward the crashed Batwing. Upon arriving, he carefully sat down in the seat of the cockpit with Harry in his lap. The cockpit lowered over the two as Batman started the take over process. ‘Please tell me the engines still work.’ he thought.
The man who was chasing from before seemed to have finally caught up with him. As he approached the Batwing, he held a stick in his right hand and pointed it at the Batwing. “Please come out of there with Harry, or I won’t hesitate to curse.”
Batman ignored the strange threat, as he finished prepping the Batwing. “Here we go,” he said.
He started the engines, which burst into life. The force of them was enough to startle the strange man and knock him onto his back. Batman then guided the Batwing out of the crash sight and pulled the throttle. And with that the Batwing took off into the sky.
The strange man watched as the plane took off, horrified. “No… NO… NOOOOOOOOO!” he shouted.
“HAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRYYYYYYYYYYY!” he shouted as he fell to his knees, with tears streaming down his face.
High above the city of London, going at a speed that was safe for the baby in his lap, Batman let out a breath of relief as he watched Harry snuggle into him. “Alright Harry.” he said, “We’re going home.”
