Basically it's a get together with a pause in the middle for Robin to help Steve work through his sexuality crisis.

Work Text:

Steve had spent the last three years fighting for his life against creatures beyond comprehension, infiltrating secret Soviet bases, and solving serial murders. Somehow, somehow, all of it had led to him sprawled tipsily across a sofa in Mike Wheeler’s basement at midnight on a Friday in July. Well shit. If that wasn’t just a little sad. Who would have guessed Steve Harrington’s average night out the summer after senior year would consist of batting fifteen year old dweebs away from his beer bottle. Currently the dweebs in question were hunched over in little groups on the floor. Dustin and Mike were huddled together and conspiring in low voices about their latest and greatest D&D campaign ideas, while Lucas and Max were listening to music on a shared Walkman. Despite himself, Steve’s heart kinda melted looking at them.

There was a snort from Steve’s right, and he glanced over at Robin’s incredulous face, “God Steve you look like a mother watching her kid win at little league baseball”.

“Oh my god he does”, Nancy laughed from where she sat across from Steve.

Steve pulled his eyes off the kids and rolled them thoroughly. “Yeah, yeah. Feminize my softer emotions all you like. You guys call yourself feminists…”.

Nancy and Robin shared a look that Steve was clearly the subject of, and then promptly burst out laughing. As hard as Steve tried to be annoyed, he only felt joy watching two of his favourite people share in such care-free happiness, even if it was at his expense. He and the rest of them had spent long enough looking over their shoulders and sharpening knives. Steve thought back to the ending of it all, the moment when Eleven had unleashed pure power carried on a harrowed scream, enough raw energy to destroy Vecna and flatten the upside down. He remembers watching El collapse afterwards, seeing the small smile on her exhausted face. He remembers feeling relief settle on him like a loving hand, a feeling of pure ecstatic calm. And yeah, you bet your ass he checked on his kids after it was done to make sure they were all okay.

It had been months since the end, and Hawkins had been quiet as any other Indiana town since then. But Steve knew he wasn’t alone in feeling a gnawing anxiety at the back of his mind, an anticipation of further danger despite knowing it was over, and they were safe. Robin and he stayed on at the Family Video Store for lack of anything better to do, and because neither of them felt capable of moving on with their lives. Nancy and Jonathan were still rocky, but without the strain of imminent death on their relationship, things seemed to be on the up. Eddie had been a wild card for the past few months, and Steve thought he was maybe the most acutely affected by it. It had all started and then ended so abruptly for Eddie, and he seemed to still be reeling in the inertia of it, though he hid it well under that damned smirk.

The kids adapted to the quiet better. They all finished freshman year with only mild concerns over passing Mr. Thompson’s history class. When June hit, they had a million and two ideas for how to fill their endless summer.

And the Summer had felt truly endless, without the threat of death to speed the passing of time along. Despite the anxious undercurrent, Steve had been trying his hardest to enjoy simple pleasures, which, he was ashamed to say, now included sitting around with a bunch of losers on a Friday night.

A flash of leather and denim caught Steve’s eye as Eddie waltzed down the stairs two at a time.

“I come bearing ale for the thirsty peasants!”, Eddie proclaimed loudly, swaying his way over to the couches in time to the synth pop playing over Mike’s tinny speakers. Mike and Dustin perked up at Eddie’s entrance, both of them trying their luck at snatching a bottle from the six-pack dangling from Eddie’s finger.

“Hey that does not mean you, infants”, Steve said lazily from his position on the sofa.

He watched Eddie dance around Dustin and Mike’s reaching arms, and reluctantly wished he had an ounce of Munson’s grace. Eddie turned his mischievous eyes on Steve, and he quickly looked away, flustered to have been caught staring. Steve was loathe to admit it, but Eddie had a certain charisma about him that drew the eye. He also had a certain dickish quality about him that irritated Steve to no end, so… go figure. Oh, the duality of Man.

“Robbie, Nance”, Eddie saluted the girls in turn as he walked past them towards where Steve was sitting. “I hope you ladies have been keeping an eye on Harrington, you know how he gets all sappy and emotional when it’s past his bedtime”. Eddie looked over to Steve and dropped his bottom lip into an exaggerated pout.

“Emotional? C’mon man, you’re the one pouting like a baby”, Steve pointed at Eddie’s face as proof.

“Babies are literally devoid of emotion Harrington, they’re like bottomless pits of neutrality and neediness. Have you ever met a baby? Clearly not”.

Robin’s laugh bubbled up from next to Steve, her face splitting into a dopey grin, “You guys are such massive losers”.

“Why thank you”, Eddie said, flourishing into a little half bow and tipping an imaginary hat at Robin. He straightened up and then plopped down unceremoniously next to Steve on the sofa, his back slouched and his legs spread wide. “Beer, my dear?’, Eddie asked, holding a bottle out to Steve who huffed at the cheap rhyme and reached out to take it from him. Eddie’s many chunky rings clinked against the glass bottle as he handed it over, drawing Steve’s eyes to long slender fingers and chipped black nail polish. Steve awkwardly grabbed the bottle in the spaces between Eddie’s fingers, avoiding contact for reasons he didn’t fully understand. He could feel Eddie’s gaze on the side of his face, but he pointedly ignored it.

“So, who’s up for a game of Blackjack?”, Steve asked, picking up a deck of cards.

.

The night was effortless and light. Robin and Eddie explained the rules of Blackjack to Nancy, interrupting and speaking over each other in their enthusiasm. They played several rounds, Dustin even joined them for a bit which of course meant that Robin and Eddie had to re-explain the rules, this time with even less coordination. When the six pack ran out, Eddie bribed Mike with a five-dollar bill to go up to his parents liquor cabinet and steal some tequila for them.

The kids ended up heading up to bed around 1:30 in the morning.

Eddie leaned forward in his chair and watched them disappear up the stairs. As soon as the basement door clicked shut, Eddie whipped around and pulled a joint seemingly out of nowhere, holding it up so the others could see, “who’s up for a smoke?”.

“How long have you been waiting to pull that out of your sleeve?”, Nancy asked, raising an eyebrow.

“Honestly, I thought those little underage shits would never leave”, Eddie said, spinning the joint between nimble fingers. He turned a broad grin on Steve, “Harrington? You up for it?”.

He was going to regret this, he really was. Steve wasn’t drunk in any sense, but he was most certainly buzzed, and weed was definitely not going to help. “Yeah man, why not”. Damnit Steve.

Steve startled as Eddie jumped to his feet with sudden renewed energy, “YES! Fuckin’ yes, man! I always knew you were a grade A dude, Steve Harrington”. Eddie’s smile was contagious, and Steve found himself grinning as he answered, “No you didn’t, Munson, you thought I was a douche because I’m hotter than you, and you were jealous”.

“Oof, kill shot Harrington”, Eddie said, miming shooting himself in the head. He turned to Robin and Nancy, wiggling the joint in his fingers, “care to join me and Hot Douche Steve Harrington for a smoke, ladies? Limited time offer”, he spread his hands wide like a car salesman in a pitch.

Robin and Nancy turned to each other, putting their heads together and whispering in hushed tones as Steve and Eddie exchanged questioning looks.

“Nah, we’re good, thanks. Nance and I are gonna talk about girl stuff, or something. You boys enjoy though”, Robin’s smile was a little too knowing for Steve’s liking, and Nancy’s little giggle didn’t help.

“Ooookay then. C’mon Harrington, this weed won’t smoke itself”, Eddie spun on his heel and tanked up the stairs, throwing the door at the top open and disappearing out of view.

“Have fun Steeeeve”, Nancy said, triggering a laughing fit from Robin.

Steve’s brow furrowed in amused confusion, “man you girls are weird when you drink”. Robin just laughed harder at this.

.

The air outside was thick and stagnant, pooling in the bottoms of Steve’s lungs and making his hair fall limp around his ears. He couldn’t help but notice that Eddie’s curls were still just as bouncy and voluminous as usual. What a dick.

“You’ve smoked before, right Harrington? Wouldn’t want to corrupt Hawkins’ golden boy”, Eddie teased.

“Alright first of all, I haven’t been Hawkins’ golden boy for years, and second of all, yes I have smoked before… it’s been a while though, I guess fighting for your life kinda puts the fun stuff on hold”.

Eddie’s face fell a bit at the mention of their ordeal, his jaw tightening as he turned his gaze to the ground, “yeah man, I get that”.

Steve patted him on the back awkwardly, trying to bring the mood back up, “c’mon man, if we don’t do this now, I’ll sober up and realize this is a bad idea”.

Eddie shook his head, throwing his anxieties off and coming back to himself a bit, “Alright, alright, keep your panties on Harrington”. He stuck the joint between his lips and lit the other end with a Black Sabbath lighter, shielding the flame from nonexistent wind with a cupped hand. Steve found himself watching Eddie’s hands, and then watching his lips as he sucked on the joint to get it going. Eddie’s brown eyes snapped up to Steve’s as he exhaled, and his lips curved up into a smirk, “careful Stevie, you keep staring like that and I’ll start thinking you only like me for my looks”.

Steve let out a startled laugh as he tore his eyes away like they burned. Stevie?! Where did that come from… Eddie seemed completely at ease, but Steve’s face was burning, and he had no clue what to say.

Luckily, Eddie took pity on him and passed him the joint, giving Steve something to do with his mouth and his suddenly fidgety hands. Holding the joint between his index and middle fingers, Steve drew a long pull of smoke into his lungs, feeling it prickle down his throat. He tried very hard not to cough, and he almost succeeded, but then he looked over at Eddie and saw him staring back, and suddenly he was hacking away like he was trying to expel a lung.

“Woah there, Harrington, don’t tell me you have asthma”, Eddie slapped him on the back twice, letting his hand linger on Steve’s spine for a little too long afterwards, which, not helping.

“No, I don’t have asthma. Who do you think I am, Henderson?”, Steve said between small lingering coughs, “this shit is just really strong”.

“Ohhh yeah that’s fair dude, I kinda forgot to brag, but my stuff is the best in town. You’re probably gonna feel that come on pretty fast”.

Turns out it did come on fast, Steve was already starting to feel a bit floaty even though he’d coughed up most of his first hit. He focused on the feeling and resolutely avoided thinking about Eddie’s comment from earlier and how flustered it had made him.

Steve passed the joint back to Eddie, who took an expert hit, holding the smoke in his lungs for a good ten seconds before exhaling it up towards the night sky.

The flustered embarrassment left Steve’s mind gradually as they passed the joint back and forth, and a comfortable silence settled over them as they leaned back on their hands and stared up at the stars.

Eddie broke the silence on the back of an exhale, “Do you ever wonder why all this shit had to happen in Hawkins? Like who decides which towns get prom queens and football games, and which ones get tentacle monsters and superpowered teenagers?”.

Steve turned his head to look at Eddie’s pensive side profile. The weed in his system was making it a lot easier to stare. His eyes traced the contour of Eddie’s nose down to the bow of his lips, then pulled back up to the misty look in Eddie’s eyes. “I don’t know… I guess…”, Steve paused, leaning forward onto his knees, “I guess I used to think that Hawkins was cursed, that someone in this town did something to anger a spirit or… I don’t know, the devil or something. But once the Soviets got involved, the whole thing got a whole lot bigger than Hawkins and I realized there’s kinda no point trying to understand the big picture of this thing… it’s beyond the scope of a group of American teenagers, you know?”. Steve kicked at a rock with the toe of his shoe, “It makes me angry that those kids won’t get to be normal, that they won’t get prom queens and football games… but at the same time, I wouldn’t know them like I do without this whole thing… and I’d be a different Steve Harrington, maybe a Steve not worth knowing…”. Steve knew he was rambling, but he kinda did get sappy late at night.

“Hey, you’re a really cool dude, you know that Steve?”, Eddie was smiling softly, his head tilted to one side and the curls of his bangs falling into his eyes.

“Careful Eddie, I might start to think you like me for my looks and my personality”, Steve grinned broadly, leaning over to punch Eddie gently on the shoulder.

Eddie grabbed at his shoulder in dramatic mock pain, “jeez you got a mean punch Harrington”. His devious grin was back in full force, “So what if I did?”.

“So what if you did what?”, Steve asked, not following.

“Like you for your looks and your personality?”.

“Well, that would mean you have excellent taste”, Steve grinned all lopsided, letting his head drop to one side.

“I’m not gonna argue with that”, Eddie grinned back.

It was amazing how easy prolonged eye contact was with a little chemical assistance. Steve noticed absently that his face was much closer to Eddie’s face than it used to be, but he found he didn’t much mind. If he’d had the presence of mind to pay attention, he might have noticed that Eddie was staring at his lips, but as it was, he was a little too lost in Eddie’s thoughtful brown eyes. Therefore, it came as quite a shock when Eddie placed a hand on Steve’s knee and leaned in to kiss him.

Steve shot backwards when he felt lips against his own. He scrambled away from Eddie, whose hand dropped from Steve’s knee onto the ground. Panic flared in Steve’s mind, fueled by the emotionally intensifying effect of the weed. He only vaguely registered the mirrored panic and confusion in Eddie’s face as he hopped to his feet and started backing away towards the house. “That, that was fine, I’m just gonna… um, I’m just gonna go inside and get some water”, Steve didn’t even have the awareness to be embarrassed about that mess of a sentence. He turned and bolted into the house, making a beeline for the ground floor bathroom, and locking the door behind him before sinking onto the toilet seat with his head in his hands. Fuuuck.

.

“Steve? Stevie? You okay in there? You’re not throwing up, are you? I can hold your luscious locks back for you if you are”, Robin’s voice was muffled through the bathroom door.

Steve brushed his hair off his sweaty forehead, trying to steady his breathing.

“Steve? Do you want to let me in?”.

“Is Nancy with you?”, Steve’s voice wavered just a little.

“Oh! No, no, she’s in the basement on the phone with Jonathan… they seem like they’re doing much better, it’s great”.

Steve got up and faced himself in the mirror. He tried to school his anxious expression into one of indifference, without much success. Whatever, Robin had seen him in worse states. He turned the lock and it clicked. The door swung gently open, and Robin’s head poked into the room, concern clear on her face.

“Hey, what’s up?”, Robin closed the door behind her and slid down to sit on the floor next to Steve. Just her presence was so comforting, and Steve instantly felt himself breathing easier. “Did you throw up? Cause it looks like you threw up… or like you need to throw up. Oh my god please don’t throw up on me”. Robin started to scooch away, but Steve put a hand on her knee to stop her retreating. “I’m fine Robin, I’m not gonna throw up”.

“Okay cool cool, good… that’s good. So, um… what’s wrong then? You look freaked out, Steve”.

“God, I don’t know… I think I drank too much, or smoked too much, or whatever”, Steve scrubbed a hand down his face, letting his eyes fall closed. In the absence of vision, his mind summoned images of Eddie’s pink lips puckered around the joint, the lips that had later touched his own lips… Steve snapped his eyes wide open. He could see the concerned look on Robin’s face from the corner of his eye.

“Steve, did something happen with Eddie? While you guys were outside?”.

“No, what? Why would you think something happened? What do you mean?”.

Robin let out an awkward laugh, “Wow. Smooth, Harrington, that really convinced me”. She paused for a bit, “Did you guys have an argument or something? Did he say something to you?”.

Steve shook his head, “No, no, he’s fine, he was fine. He’s good. I just… freaked out”.

“Okay”, Robin sounded unconvinced, but she was a good friend, so she let it rest. She snuck a hand around Steve’s shoulders and pulled him into a side hug. He melted just a bit into her, glad for the company as his breathing slowed and his thoughts stopped spiralling.

It was five minutes or so before Steve spoke again, “Robin, can I ask you something? And you have to promise you won’t make it weird”.

Robin snorted, “yeah ‘course Steve, I can’t imagine what it is you don’t already know about me, but go for it”.

Steve steeled himself with a big breath, “how did you know you weren’t… straight?”. He regretted the words as soon as they left his mouth. God, what a weird question. Shit.

“Oh! Hm, good one”, Robin brought a hand to her chin as she thought on her answer. “I guess for a while I just thought I was a late bloomer, all my friends were interested in guys and I just… wasn’t”.

“How did you know you were into girls then?”, Steve asked, grateful to Robin for taking this seriously and not making a joke out of it.

Robin smiled a half-smile at him, “well that’s easy. There was a girl in my class in middle school called Sandra Michaels, and she had really long straight black hair that always used to fall in front of her face. I remember I used to stare at her when she would sweep it back behind her ear, and I’d just get all caught up in her eyes and her hair and the way she moved. I don’t think I really understood that it was a crush at the time but looking back it was pretty obvious”.

Robin leaned her head back against the wall. She didn’t keep talking and she didn’t press Steve to talk either. Steve had never been so grateful to have her.

“Robin?”.

“Yeah?”.

“Eddie kissed me”.

Robin’s head turned slowly to look at Steve and her mouth dropped open, “HE DID WHAT?”.

“Oh my god, keep your voice down! There’s children sleeping upstairs!”.

Robin ignored him, grabbing at his knees, and getting all up in his personal space, “oh my GOD, tell me everything! This is wild, I mean, I thought you were freaking out cause he flirted with you, and you were having some sort of sexuality crisis, but I never would have guessed that he kissed you! What the hell, Steve!”.

Steve struggled to keep up with Robin’s excited ramblings.

“God, Robin, you are not helping right now, I’m freaking out!”.

“Okay, no, you’re right, I’m sorry”. She sat back a bit, “I just can’t believe you kissed a boy before I kissed a girl, it’s so unfair”.

“Robin!”.

“Yeah, no, I’m done. Sorry, I’m done”.

Steve ran nervous fingers through his hair.

Robin pulled at his wrist, stilling his hands in his hair, “don’t do that Steve, you’ll ruin your meticulous style”, she smirked, and Steve felt a smile pull at the corners of his mouth. “So, did you want him to kiss you?”.

“I… I don’t know. I wasn’t expecting it, I really wasn’t expecting it”.

“Really? I mean, I’m not trying to make things worse, but have you seen the way he looks at you? I mean, seriously, he trips over his own feet when you’re around”.

Steve searched Robin’s eyes for a sign that she was joking, but she was dead serious, “That’s… I mean, no I hadn’t noticed that”.

“Are you freaked out that Eddie kissed you?”, she paused, “Or are you freaked out that a guy kissed you?”. She asked the second question gently, like she was worried it might hurt.

Steve thought long and hard for a moment. He finally let himself play the moment over. He remembered how relaxed he had felt, how peaceful and right, and he knew it was from more than just the weed. He could see now that Eddie had been leaning in, had been staring, had been flicking his gaze between Steve’s eyes and his lips, a silent question in his face. And Steve remembers how close they had been to each other, close enough to feel Eddie’s body heat and smell the marijuana on his breath.

“I think… both, maybe. But I think maybe I wanted him to kiss me?”, it was a quiet, self-conscious admission, and one that came straight from Steve’s brain without much processing from his conscious mind.

“Okay, hey that’s fine! That’s good that you know that”, Robin ran a soothing hand down his back. “so, what did you do, when he kissed you?”.

It was then that Steve realized how badly he’d handled it. He found himself wondering where Eddie was now, whether he was in the basement, or if he’d just gone home. Steve wouldn’t blame him. “Shit. I think I really messed up Robin. He startled me, and I kinda… ran away”.

“You ran away?! Steve! Eddie’s probably freaking out right now!”.

“You think I don’t know that Robin, I know I messed up. Jeez, he’s never gonna talk to me again”. Steve hung his head between his knees. “I just didn’t know how to react. I mean if I wanted him to kiss me… does that make me… gay?”.

Robin’s voice was gentle again, “it makes you whatever you want it to make you Steve. Seriously, you don’t have to think of yourself differently, you’re still just you. And for the record, I don’t think Eddie’s never gonna talk to you again”.

“What do I do now? Nothing?”.

“Nothing? Steve, considering you’ve dated almost every girl at Hawkins high you are incredibly clueless. No, you don’t just do nothing. If you like him you need to go tell him, and if you don’t, you at least need to make sure he knows you’re not gonna go around telling everyone he’s a queer freak”.

Steve directed a shocked look at Robin, “I would never say that!”.

“Well I know that, but he might not. You’ve seen how much I struggle with making a move on girls because I’m worried they’ll freak out and hate me… it’s scary not knowing who’s on your side”.

“Yeah… yeah, I know, you’re right Robs. Shit. I’ve never even thought about liking guys, I mean I know I like girls so that’s always been easy, but this is new. And scary. I think… I think I like him though. I mean his hair, his hair is insane Robin, have you seen it?”.

Robin burst out laughing, a genuine sunshine smile breaking out across her face, drawing an equally genuine smile out of Steve. He laughed along with her, feeling his stomach unwind and his heart relax.

“I’m so glad I know you”, Steve shot Robin a look of pure adoration.

“Oh, stop it, you’re just happy you have a gay person to turn to in your hour of need. Oh, woe is me, I’m Steve Harrington and I have perfect hair and now a guy with equally perfect hair is staring into my eyes lovingly and kissing me, what ever will I do”, Robin mocked in her best Steve voice.

Steve couldn’t help but laugh at her impersonation, playfully shoving her shoulder, “Stop it, you’re not funny”.

“I am hilarious. But more importantly. Steve. You need to go find Eddie”.

“Yeah… yeah, I guess I do”. That sobered him up quite a bit.

His knees popped as he stood, then he held a hand out and pulled Robin up to her feet.

“Wait, come here”, to Steve’s dismay, Robin started fussing with his hair, flipping it this way and that, and tucking strands behind his ears. “Okay, there you go. Very handsome. Go get ‘em, prince charming”. She pinched his cheeks and he batted at her hands.

He opened the bathroom door and Robin gave him a shove. He drew in a big shaky breath.

.

Steve searched around the entire house and was ready to give up and accept that Eddie had gone home when he spotted him outside in the garden exactly where they’d been sitting before and exactly where Steve hadn’t thought to look. He let himself stare from inside the house for just a moment. Eddie looked serious and thoughtful, far from his usual playful zeal. He was smoking a cigarette and watching the smoke curl up above his head, the fingers of his free hand fiddling with his necklace. He turned as he heard the door open, and his face fell as he saw Steve.

Keeping his resolve, Steve walked over and sat gingerly next to Eddie on the ground.

A tense silence stretched between them as they both searched for the right words.

“Look I’m sorry I ran off, it was a dick move and – ”, Steve started just as Eddie said “I’m really sorry for assuming man, I should have asked – ”.

They both paused, neither of them on sure footing.

Eddie’s Adam’s apple bobbed as he swallowed, then he looked up at Steve with wide eyes, “look man, I don’t know what got into me. I really should have asked. I can totally just forget that happened… if you can”. He turned the end of the sentence up like a question, and Steve felt guilt like a stone in his stomach.

“What if… I don’t want to forget?”. Steve shifted a little closer. Eddie’s face remained uncertain and hesitant, but Steve decided he could be brave. “Can I kiss you? I’m gonna kiss you, but you need to know that I’m freaking out, okay?”. Okay, only sort of brave.

The confused look on Eddie’s face didn’t shift, but he nodded slowly.

Steve took a shaky breath, expelling all the doubt and fear in his mind and focusing on the way Eddie’s hair shifted in the light breeze, the way his brown eyes caught the glint of streetlights and stars. He leaned forward like it was the easiest thing in the world and pressed his lips chastely to Eddie’s. There was a moment of absolute stillness, a moment so finely balanced and precisely tuned that it felt sacred, but eventually something fell into place and Eddie surged up and kissed back. Steve felt a flutter in his stomach, and he threaded a hand in the soft curls at the back of Eddie’s head.

The kiss broke on a wavering breath and Steve pressed his forehead to Eddie’s, not wanting to pull away yet. He started to slip the hand in Eddie’s hair down, but Eddie’s hand shot up to hold his wrist in place. Steve exhaled shakily. “I”, he swallowed down his nerves and tried again, “I think you’re really pretty”.

Eddie held his breath for a second in surprise, then started to laugh. He laughed and laughed, and Steve carded through his hair and smiled.

“Harrington, you are a mystery wrapped up in an enigma. I mean, seriously, way to give a guy whiplash. Before I kissed you, I could have sworn you were into me, then you ran off and I could have sworn you were gonna get me sent away to conversion therapy, and now you’re telling me I’m pretty? I mean, hell, no one’s ever told me I’m pretty before”.

“Well, they should, cause you are”, and Steve found that it was the truest thing he could have said. Eddie really was pretty. Steve’s gaze lingered on delicate brown curls, on round dark eyes, on high cheekbones, and a beautiful long neck.

“Shit, Steve. Keep looking at me like that and I’m gonna have to ravish you like the beautiful young maiden you are”. It should have sounded ridiculous. It was ridiculous. But Eddie grinned that charismatic grin and Steve found himself swooning.

Steve tightened the hand in Eddie’s hair and pulled him in, feeling Eddie’s broad grin against his lips before Eddie kissed him back, this time like he meant it. Steve gasped as he felt Eddie open his mouth, his tongue meeting Steve’s in a messy but oh so sweet kiss. Broad hands snaked up Steve’s back and he shivered as Eddie slipped one down and back up under Steve’s shirt. Steve’s own hands were back in Eddie’s hair, which he found himself quite fascinated by. He closed his fist and gave a gentle experimental tug, and Eddie let out a quiet groan against Steve’s lips. Steve shivered and tugged at Eddie’s hair again. His hands drifted down over Eddie’s lean arms and onto his waist, and he pulled a bit, wishing Eddie could be closer.

Seemingly reading his mind, Eddie shifted and lifted a knee over Steve’s lap to sit on his thighs. Steve just stared up at Eddie in amazement. He pressed a thumb to Eddie’s spit-slick lower lip, and Eddie’s tongue poked out to meet it. He was just perfect. Steve leaned in and pressed a kiss to the corner of Eddie’s mouth, to his cheekbone, his jaw, and behind his ear, before working kisses and gentle nips down the long column of his neck. Eddie rewarded him by tilting his head and groaning softly as Steve worked a mark into his neck. Steve moved to the hollow at the base of Eddie’s throat, and he threw his head back, exposing his throat and sending his long hair cascading down his back. Steve had to stop for a minute and just admire the grace and beauty of Eddie Munson.

“What, Harrington, you change your mind again?”, Eddie smirked, and Steve’s insides went sort of wobbly.

“Are you kidding? I just found out I like kissing boys, I’m not gonna stop now”.

Eddie grinned and leaned down to kiss Steve. Feeling brave, Steve smoothed his hands down Eddie’s back and kept going until his palms lay flat against his ass. Eddie gasped and he kissed Steve harder as his hips bucked. Steve smiled into the kiss and licked into Eddie’s mouth. Eddie shifted closer, pressing himself against Steve from chest to hips. A small sound escaped the back of Steve's throat and he wrapped his arms around Eddie’s trim waist, pulling him in even closer as they kissed.

“Hey!”

They both froze.

“Hey, douchebags!”

“Is that Henderson?”, Steve asked, looking up at Eddie.

“That’s fucking Henderson, the little twerp”, Eddie replied, sitting back onto Steve’s thighs.

“I may not be able to see you, but I can smell cigarette smoke and a certain illegal substance. You guys should know all forms of inhaled smoke are linked to lung cancer and shortened life expectancy!”.

“Henderson, what the hell are you doing awake, it’s like three in the morning”, Steve yelled in the direction of the house.

“Robin and Nancy woke me up, legit I can hear them in the basement from the third floor. THE THIRD FLOOR!”.

“Alright, keep your pants on Henderson, I’m sure they can hear you from the basement now, jeez”, Eddie climbed off Steve’s legs and held a hand out to help him up.

“Go to sleep Henderson, it’s way, way past your bedtime”, Steve hollered up at the open window.

“Yeah, yeah…”, Dustin grumbled as he retreated back into the house.

“Soooo”, Steve started awkwardly.

“We’re definitely doing that again, yeah?”, Eddie interjected.

“Yeah, definitely”.

“Cool, cool. What do you say we go catch up with the girls, they’re probably wondering where we are”.

“Oh, I have a feeling they know. It’s a good thing I love Robin because I’m pretty sure she’s telling Nancy all about my sexuality crisis right now”.

“Sexuality crisis? All for me? I’m a lucky girl”, Eddie teased, twirling a lock of his hair around a finger, and batting his eyelashes.

“Oh god, I better be careful with you or I’m gonna give you an ego”.

“You bet Harrington”.

Steve snaked his hand under Eddies’s arm to slot his fingers through Eddie’s, then he tugged him in the direction of the house.
