i'm not jealous but who the kriff is that?

Summary:

“I beg your pardon, sir, but I don’t know what you’re talking about”.

“Oh, really?”, you ask sarcastically.

When you appear in his line of sight again, you’re frowning with a hand on your hip, and he is trying to fight a smirk.

“You are telling me you don’t remember punching my Commander right in the nose without reason?”

He smirks freely now.

Or:

Crosshair is not jealous of your Commander being too close to you, not at all.

Notes:

English is not my first language, so this may contain errors.

The title is more or less a lyric from a Bad Bunny song. I changed the end of it because it said a bad word that doesn't have a translation in English. The song that inspired this fic was "Yo no soy celoso" (I'm not jealous) by Bad Bunny.

Although, Crosshair will call Reader sir in this fic, I will like to clarify that this fic is gender neutral. While I watched the Clone Wars, I noticed that the clones called their superiors sir not minding their gender so I did the same here.

Work Text:

You’re waiting, with your hands on your back, facing the hyperspace view. The clones are moving around, making sure everything is in place, conversing within themselves. It felt homey in some way, at least for you.

The sound of the bridge’s door opening breaks your concentration on the outside.

Steps approach, only stopping at a safe distance from you.

You don’t need to use the Force or turn around to know who it's behind you.

“General, we brought Crosshair as you requested”, one of the soldiers says.

You turn around then, facing three clones, but the only one different was the one in the middle.

“Thanks, guys, you can return to your stations”, they make a salute, before turning around and leaving the bridge.

You exchange a look with the clone that stays. He looks emotionless, but that’s not rare in him, he looks slightly more tense than normal, which it is new.

“Did you call for me, sir?”, he asks, standing straight.

“Yes, I did, Crosshair”, you say, approaching him, only stopping when his heigh is towering over you. He is too tall, even for you. “Do you have an idea of why I called you?”

He looks straight at you.

“No, sir, I don’t know”.

You start walking around him.

“That’s frankly disappointing. I thought you knew since your actions were the reason for me to call you”.

He gulps, feeling your warm presence behind him, but he relaxes soon after. He is not letting you know what is happening inside his head.

“It's not funny, Crosshair”.

“It's not funny for me, sir”.

“Then wipe that smirk off your face”, he relaxes his face muscles, even when he actually wants to laugh. This was too fun. “And do please tell me why my Commander is in the medbay in this instance, with a broken nose”.

“He is in the med bay because I broke his nose”.

“Obviously, but why do you attack him? He is your superior and you can’t simply punch him”.

He takes his time answering. He knew you’ll call him. He punched that stupid Commander of yours in front of half your men without reason and it was part of your duty to scold him. He also knew that you weren’t going to like the answer he was going to give you, even less the fact that the clones in the bridge loved gossip and were currently listening, even if they acted like they didn’t.

“Can we have this conversation elsewhere, sir?”

You look at him incredulously for a few seconds, but you give in.

“Follow me, soldier”, you say before announcing that you were going away.

The way to your quarters is silent and tense. It’s not until the two of you are inside and the door is closed that you turn around to address him with crossed arms and a frown.

“Why you punch him, Crosshair?”, your tone is different, it's less formal.

“Are you seriously asking that?”, his tone, besides accusing, is less formal too.

In this room, he is not a soldier and you’re not a General. In this room, you’re two fools.

“Yes, I am. You punched my Commander in front of a lot of people”.

“And what? He deserved it”.

“That’s the problem, Crosshair, he did not. You simply punched because - you didn’t even have a reason”.

“I do”.

“Oh really, enlighten me then”.

“He was too close to you”, he exclaims, and your frown deepens.

“He was too close to me? Of course, he was informing me of something important”.

“Well, it was too close in my opinion”, he sounds angry, even if he is trying very hard not to sound angry.

You approach, looking at him until he is towering over you again.

“You were jealous?”

“No”, he answers, but it’s not pretty convincing. “I just think that he shouldn’t be so close to you like that. You’re the General, he is the clone, he is supposed to respect your space”.

You stay quiet, you observe him. He starts getting nervous, this was not how he planned this conversation to go, but in his defense, words weren’t his thing, he was better with a riffle at a long distance.

“Respect my space as you do?”, he looks offended.

“I respect your space”.

“Like you did back there when you attack my Commander?”

“He didn’t have any business being that close to you”.

“Who decides that?”

“Well, you of course”.

“Exactly, Crosshair, I decide that. You didn’t have to intervene, even less punch him in the face”.

“Oh, so you wanted me to simply stare and do nothing?”

“If it meant not punching him and do a fuss, yes”, he scoffs.

You stare at each other for a few seconds, until he approaches enough to be as close as the Commander had been a while back.

“It's not fair, you know? That stupid reg can be this close to you and I must be in this room to do the same”.

“You are actually jealous”, and it’s not a question this time.

“Jealous? Me jealous? What kind of nasty joke is that?”

“Your eyes are betraying you”.

He rolls his eyes, stepping back and crossing his arms over his chest.

“Yes, keep up with that Jedi thing”.

“I don’t need the Force to know it, Crosshair”, you say, approaching him again. He rolls his eyes. “Why are you jealous?”

“I am not jealous”.

“It's no use hiding it, not from me”.

He turns around. You must step back so his rifle doesn’t hit you straight in the nose.

He stays quiet for a few seconds while everything you see is his back and his tensed stance.

“I’m not ashamed of what is happening between the two of us”, you suddenly say. “It's just that… it's not the Jedi way to be…with you”.

“That hasn’t stopped you from being close to your Commander”, he comments, and you sigh, pinching the bridge of your nose.

Tense silence, until you touch his arm, right in his elbow where there is no black armor. Your hand is warm and when you come face to face with him, your eyes are warmer.

Before he can open his mouth to spit more venom at you, you grab him by the face and lower him to your height. Your lips crash with his in a kiss and for a few seconds, his defected clone brain forgets how to work.

When the kiss is over you grab him by the elbows again.

“I want you to understand something, fool”, he gives you a face, but that doesn’t stop you from talking in a grim and soft voice at the same time. “My Commander and I aren’t as close as you and I. I don’t know why he approached that much, but you acting all jelly about it, isn’t going to make things better, on the contrary, it's going to make a fuss, more than the one you already did. I’m a Jedi, you know the rules, I’m breaking them already for you, please, don’t doubt me or what I feel for you. If I didn’t feel how I do, I wouldn’t have asked for you personally constantly on missions”.

“Is that supposed to make me feel better?”

“Your mind says it does”, he rolls his eyes again. “Now if we stopped being dramatic or jealous, I need you to apologize to my Commander and –“

“I am not going to apologize”.

“Why not?”, he crosses his arms over his chest again and slouches to your height.

“Because you’re mine and that stupid reg needs to know his place”, you blink a few times, losing focus for a moment when his breath hits your face.

He smirks, pleased before he returns to his normal height.

You open your mouth to say something but at that moment the door slides open, and the voice of a clone soldier interrupts you.

“General”, he calls, and you look at him, trying to mask the fact that your soul almost left your body for a second there.

“Y-yes?”

“The briefing about the mission is about to start”.

“Oh, yes, of course. We will be there, shortly”.

He nods before he disappears, and the door slides closed automatically.

You let out a sigh.

“I know it's your space, but I don’t like these regs being so close to you. It was totally unnecessary”.

“Oh, please, stop it”, he gives you an emotionless face and you sigh rubbing your temples a little. “At this rate, my hair is going to end like yours before it's actually supposed to”.

“Hey!”, he exclaims offended.

“C’mon, jellybean, we have a galaxy to save”.

“Take the hair thing back”, you smirk.

“Nah”.

“General”, he warns.

“You’ll have to catch me first”.

“Are you serious?"

“Byyeeeeee”, and the door is open in a second, and your outside in another and he simply sighs.

This is exactly why he likes you though.
