Work Text:
Cale scowled at the annoying nobles attempting to forge alliances with him. Greedy pigs. They just wanted his connections and allies. Ugh, why was he here again? Oh, right! His annoying hyung had promised to give him two golden plaques if he attended this stupid, useless, waste of time ball. At least he would be getting more money out of this.
Just then, his hyung appeared on the stage. Speak of the devil and he shall appear. Cale stared with his dead fish eye, waiting for Alberu to get it over with. Contrary to his expectations, instead of ending the party, Alberu mentioned his name and something about singing and playing the piano. Wait, what!? Cale gritted his teeth and gave a forced smile as he stomped his way up the stage. "What are you doing, hyung?" Cale hissed, his body stiff. His slacker life! "Sorry Cale, just play along. You do know how to sing and play the piano, right?"
Cale resigned himself to his fate before taking a seat at the grand piano that had magically appeared out of nowhere. Whatever he would get it done and over with. Cale was pretty sure his singing was average anyway. He did know how to play the piano and had done so as Kim Rok Soo. The entire ballroom fell silent, anticipation thick in the air. A group of corrupt nobles sniggered in the corner, foolishly believing that Young Master Cale would fail in front of everyone.
Love's my religion but he was my faith
Something so sacred, so hard to replace
Fallin' for him was like fallin' from grace
Multiple gasps rang throughout. Cale's voice, unbeknownst to him, was hypnotizing, alluring to anyone who heard him. His voice wasn't deep, but it wasn't too high either.
All wrapped in one, he was so many sins
Would have done anything, everything for him
And if you ask me I would do it again
Multiple people came to a realization when they paid attention to the lyrics. Was Young Master Cale singing about someone? The women banded together, gossiping about something suspicious. Alberu and some other men eyed them apprehensively.
No need to imagine
'Cause I know it's true
They say all good boys go to heaven
But bad boys bring heaven to you
Alberu narrowed his eyes. It had been funny getting Cale to sing, but he didn't like where this song was going. This person Cale was singing about seemed like a threat to his and Cale's relationship. He even got a song dedicated to him.
It's automatic
It's just what they do
They say all good boys go to heaven
But bad boys bring heaven to you
A young countess giggled. Young Master Cale seemed to be able to sympathize with them women, unlike those bull-headed sorry excuses of men. What he was singing was relatable in so many ways. He truly was the perfect marriage candidate. Her eyes widened when she suddenly thought of something and turned around to whisper to the other women.
You don't realize the power they have
Until they leave you and you want them back
Nothing in this world prepares you for that
I'm not ashamed that he wasn't the one
Had no idea what we would become
There's no regrets, I just thought it was fun
This was scandalous! Did Cale Henituse have a one-time fling with another man and one who seemed to be a bad boy too in the past! This was an exciting prospect!
No need to imagine
'Cause I know it's true
They say all good boys go to heaven
But bad boys bring heaven to you
It's automatic
It's just what they do
They say all good boys go to heaven
But bad boys bring heaven to you
Alberu was determined. He would do anything in his power to prevent this mystery one-time lover from coming back into his dongsaeng's/future wife's love life. And if he had to resort to roping in the rest of Cale's family members, what was a bit more chaos to this mess? Back in Super Rock's villa, where everyone was carrying out their daily routines, multiple communication devices rang.
Ooh oooh ooh, ooh ooooh ooh
Ooooh ooh ooooh, oooh
I still remember the moment we met
The touch that he planted, the garden he left
I guess the rain was just half that effect
Oh! Could the fling have happened in Rain City? The noblewomen came up with all sorts of conclusions, each one wilder than the last. Their husbands and fiancees sweatdropped, weirded out by their intensity.
No need to imagine
'Cause I know it's true
They say all good boys go to heaven
But bad boys bring heaven to you
Many faces darkened after hearing the news from Alberu, even if he was one of the suitors for Cale's heart. Cale's father figures suited themselves up, ready to hunt people down and give Cale a good 'talk'.
It's automatic
It's just what they do
They say all good boys go to heaven
But bad boys bring heaven to you
Oooooh oooh ooh, ooh oooh ooh
Ooooh oooh oooh ooh
Cale paused and turned around, seeing everyone silent. "Ah, was it that bad?-" He was interrupted by the ballroom erupting into rapturous applause. Even the rotten nobles had to admit Cale's singing was good. Cale had only begun walking down the steps off the stage when multiple windows shattered. The main doors were flung open, a tremendous force behind them. Cale tensed up, assuming that they were being attacked. To his bewilderment, his family members made their grand entrance and proceeded to nag at him about his past lover that they didn't know about. The expressions on his father figures were especially scary, promising pain. Hang on, past lover? When did that happen?
Before he could muster up any defense, more people dropped in. What was it this time?! Surprisingly, it was the whale siblings, Toonka, Harol, Saint Jack, Hannah, Duke Fredo, and Queen Litana. It was pretty much all of his allies, and that crazy bastard, Clopeh Sekka. Cale felt woozy when Paseton said, "Young Master Cale, I might not be your first choice, but I can be the good boy type for you!" Witira nodded, smirking in the background. Toonka bellowed after laughing extremely loudly: "My friend! I would be a suitable candidate for you! I can be both types if that's what you want!" Harol sighed, resigned to Toonka's antics.
Saint Jack blushed, briefly saying that he could be a good boy and husband to him, before running to hide behind Hannah. (A/N: Sorry if he seems OOC, I don't know much about him) Hannah cheered her brother on like a proud sister. Cale's brain seemed like it was overloading. Alberu took this moment to interject, "Cale, you love your hyung, right? I'll pamper you with lots of money, and I can be both types too. So, which type do you prefer?"
Choi Han elbowed him aside, uncaring of the fact that Alberu was the Emperor of the Roan Empire. Puppy ears and a tail appeared on him out of nowhere. "Cale-nim, I can also be both types, and I'll do my best! Ignore everyone else! I can protect you, and I'm sweet too!" His eyes seemed to be asking for head pats.
Clopeh pushed Choi Han out of the way, not without lots of protesting, but eventually succeeded. "CALE-NIM, I LOVE YOU! YOU HAVE MY UNDYING LOVE, AND YOU SHALL FOREVER BE IMMORTALISED AS A LEGEND----" Poor Clopeh was pounced on by the other suitors who were more than happy to choke and beat the life out of him.
Cale groaned and chose the easy way out. He fainted straight into Ron's arms, choosing to dream about his slacker life instead.
When he woke up the next morning, he dismissed everything that had happened as a crazy nightmare he had. Unfortunately, while he was sipping his extremely bitter lemonade, the door broke down. The combined weight of the competitors for Cale's love had been too much for his poor door. Cale shrugged and continued to deny everything while Ron, Eruhaben, and Fredo proceeded to give them the shovel talk, right then and there.
