Work Text:

pran rips the post it off the fridge to read it closely.

congratulations on your wedding.

thank for not giving up on love. thank you for changing the world for the better. you might not realize it as yet but every time one of us owns up to the love we have in our hearts, opening it up for the world to witness, it makes our fight a little easier.

the villa is yours for the week. there's plenty of food and booze in the liquor cabinet. go wild, love hard, love true.
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             - your uncle, tong.

pran smiles and looks at pat who is busy bringing in their suitcases.

he is about to tell him about the message that was left to them but gets distracted by the way pat's wedding ring catches the muted light from the energy savers installed in the villa.

time slows to a near stop as the blinding glint of the ring brings with it a wave of sobriety.

pat's ring is a pair and he's wearing the other one on his left hand.

he halts, thinking back on the proceedings of the day and realizes this is perhaps the first moment in his entire day where he was allowed to stand still and take it all in. take in the fact that he's now a married man, married to the first and only love of his life.

the realization makes him tear up and he surreptitiously wipes at his eyes, hiding them from pat because he does not want to cry. again that is.

they both did that during their vows, and their first dance and when their parents had given them their blessings.

but there is a pinprick of hot tears in his eyes as he looks at pat who has plonked down on the couch with an exaggerated sigh.

well, maybe it's not so exaggerated. it was a long day and they are both significantly older now. plus pat had chosen to drive all the way as well.

pat stretches and looks at pran, the way he does when he's utterly, irrevocably fond of him and pran feels warm all over.

he shoves the post it in his pant pocket for safekeeping before sauntering closer to pat, and dropping into the couch beside him. they are both out of their wedding clothes but they have yet to take off the makeup.

pat looks extra stunning with his hair pushed back save for a single stray lock of hair on his forehead.

pran flicks it and pat laughs.

'thank you for driving us here,' he says softly, cupping pat's face with one hand. his thumb comes up to caress one perfectly filled in eyebrow and pat snatches the moment by dropping a soft kiss on his palm.

'you're welcome, dear.'

'really?'

pran rolls his eyes the way he does when he can't look into pat's, not because he's annoyed but because he's overwhelmed.

'seems appropriate enough.' pat replies cheekily.

pran snorts to keep the sickeningly sweet smile off his face. he fails, miserably so when pat smiles at him hard enough for his eyes to turn into half moons. pran pushes down the urge to bite his cheeks that are reaching his temples.

he slinks a leg over pat's spread ones, hauling his body so he is sitting in pat's lap and pat eases back, hands coming to rest on pran's waist.

‘can you believe it,' pran asks him, kneading pat's shoulders with gentle hands, voice alight with wonder. 'we're married.'

they have come so far. from not being able to openly talk to each other to having their parents marry them with their blessings.

'well seeing as I married you just a few magical hours ago, yes. i do believe it.'

'no need for sass, i just... i am having a hard time processing it all. feels like a fever dream.' pran chuckles, berating himself a little. pat's always had an easier time accepting reality and pran's a bit too prone to living in made up ones. it's the only thing that had kept him going all the years before pat became his reality. the false hope. the ifs and maybes.

pat shifts his weight closer and holds both of his hands in his, urging pran to look into his eyes.

'this is real,' he opens pran's palms against his chest, 'feel it,' and slots their fingers together making sure their rings are visible, 'believe it.'

pran smiles ruefully, feeling pat's heartbeat beneath his palms, sure and steady. and the small clink from their rings as they rub together.

'take your time,' pat says and pran can hear the emotions in his voice as he nuzzles into pran's cheek giving him eskimo kisses and says cheekily. 'husband dear.'

pran snorts audibly this time. 'oh for fuck's sake just husband is fine. dear reminds me of tired middle aged get couples living uninspiring lives.'

'oh yeah?'

'yeah,' pran says, arms going around pat's neck. he nuzzles. 'nothing about our love is uninspiring don't you think?'

'uh huh,' pat says and lets pran kiss him softly. 'any other pet names you'd like to hear?'

'depends,' pran assumes a haughty expression, staring down at pat with half-lidded eyes. 'what else you got?'

'well there's handsome,' pat kisses his eyes.

'that's a fact,' pran laughs as pat pulls back with an affronted look, then bends down to kiss it away. 'go on.'

'babe?'

pran wrinkles his nose.

'baby?'

'i'll allow that one for “special occasions”.'

'my sweet?'

'we're gen z pat, not boomers.'

'honey bunch?'

'yuck!'

'dream boat?'

'would have worked in high school but you were too busy chasing pussy.'

'hey!' pat pouts. pran laughs and kisses him again.

pat attacks him with kisses, picking him up and shoving him so he's lying down over the couch.

'partner, beloved, better half, lover, spouse.' he punctuates them all with a dozen kisses and pran laughs until he hears the last one.

'spouse?' pran squeaks from underneath pat, hands coming up to fix pat's hair that have gotten messy from his kiss attack all over pran's face and neck. 'what century is this?'

pat's face falls. 'but i like it.'

pran tsks, and pat's eyes flutter on the table where his phone is. pran's eyes follow suit.

'don't tell me,' pran asks with disbelief. 'don't tell me, it's already spouse in your phone?'

'there's a heart next to it,' pat reasons sagely and pran has to make a monumental effort not to throw him off and change it immediately because what the fuck.

he looks at pat who's barely suppressing a smile and realizes that he's being fucked with. he thumps a hand on pat's chest in fake anger and pat laughs, bending down to kiss his nose and lips.

'what is it?' he asks between kisses. pat's kisses are even more intoxicating today. they are lighting a fire inside pran that he's all too ready to be consumed by. he licks into pat's mouth, rubbing his tongue over his teeth, tangling it with pat's then sucks on his lower lip and lets go.

'my one true love,' pat singsongs with a shit eating grin. 'like the disney movies.'

pran bites his lip with a punishing kiss. 'stop fucking around.'

pat's eyes are glazed over but even the lust can't hide the profound emotion of love he holds in them.

he nuzzles into pran's face, kisses and kisses his lips for long seconds.

'it's forever,' he looks up into pran's eyes smiling.

'and there's a heart next to it.'

pran who'd momentarily gotten blown away by the confession, sees the teasing smirk on pat's face and roots himself in reality.

'blind naiveté i see,' he taunts with a wicked grin of his own.

'calculated probability,' pat corrects, kissing him again. 'in the sea of uncertainties that is life, a forever with you was the only thing i was absolutely sure of.'

pran's eyes fill up with a fresh wave of tears. he's rarely ever without words but pat's blatant honesty has stolen all of them. 'yeah?'

'of course,' pat posits with conviction. 'nothing else would do.'

pran's rarely ever been without words and pat's done a good job of leaving him tongue-tied so the only thing left for him to do is show him how much he means to him.

so he kisses pat long and hard, carving love into pat's skin with his tongue and teeth.

maybe he will be able to voice out all that he needs to say come morning.

but for now, actions will suffice.
