highway to hell. [ hiatus ]

Summary:

One frigid winter night, young Y/N is rescued by heroes during a raid on Shie Hassaikai. The collective years of experiments and abuse have taken a toll on her, as it would with anybody. She's forever haunted by this past and would do anything to give Kai Chisaki, the man whom she was handed off, a taste of his own medicine.

Now, taking refuge with Nemuri, otherwise known as 'Midnight', she's enrolled into U.A in hopes of having a fresh start.

However, her past soon begins to creep up once again, only further complicated by another young girl just like her, caught within the clutches of the Yazuka just like she was. As Y/N does her best to get through it all, the cold and aloof Todoroki Shouto seems to want to lend a helping hand.

Chapter Text

ㅤ"It's time to wake up, little one."

The night seemed to pass as quickly as it came, and here you were, hoping you could just hold out for a little longer. A familiar sense of unease begins to settle within the pit of your stomach, slowly sitting up to look at your door. Ah, at least it was Rappa who came to wake you up this time. For someone as hot-headed as he was, the man did his best not to bring you further 'stress'. He thrived off violence, but every villain has some sort of morals. Well, that's what you'd like to think, at least.

When it came to Chisaki, however, that was a completely different story. His name was like bile ready to spew from your mouth, for a child so young, the amount of hatred and anger towards this man as immense. The day that he 'murdered' "The Boss" was a scene that would never leave your mind, no matter how many times you tried to forget about it. He was almost like a second father to you, your own biological one paying off debt to him as he raised you. Despite this, the two of them were like brothers; your father never left his side, from what you could tell.

ㅤKai Chisaki was a greedy man. One who would do anything to fuel his ambitions and goals, supposedly all for the sake of the Yazuka. You found yourself clinging to your father's leg every time he showed up.

He began to loathe the very man that rescued him off the streets, gave him food and a roof over his head, the one that gave him a new purpose in life. The man he looked up to wasted his days in blind bliss with your father and his group. Honestly, you just thought Kai was jealous of the bond they shared, but jealousy was a complete understatement. You were kept away from the majority of the dirty work that the Yazuka carried out; a trusted member's wife had no problem looking after you while they worked.

There was nothing to complain about. You never went hungry, you went to school just like any average child, and despite his occupation, your father did his best to spend time with you. Although your mother was absent, he managed to fulfil both parent roles. Then, akin to an ocean's wave washing away a sand castle, everything was stripped from you, just like that.

ㅤA comatose "Boss" laid unresponsive next to your father. You couldn't even make out his head, a mere mushy mix of flesh, hair, brain matter and more. Kai left you to witness it all; compared to what you'd be subjected to by his hands, later on, this was by far the worst he's done.

For you, death was something that he refused to grant you, and it would be a blessing in your case. When he looked at you, Kai saw the key to his problems, a will, away. Along with this, he also saw your father. He never let you live it down. Your father was still paying off his debt after all. Now, you'd take his place instead. What did you have to do? Did you have to do what the others did? Murder, blackmail, drug deals, all these scenarios crossed your mind.

You were still a kid, but you weren't oblivious. Sometimes, you wished he put you up to doing these things; they were ten times better than he had planned. He gave you your own room, filled with the latest toys and trinkets. Hell, he had even assembled one of those princess beds every little girl wanted.

ㅤYou had become Kai's genie pig. A frail and fragile pet, subjected to the horrible experiments Kai and his newly formed Shie Hassaikai came up with. Everything you wished for and wanted to be pulled out from under you like a rug.

Just like any little kid in this era, the thought of being a hero was fresh on your mind. You wanted to be someone others adored, a name that was on the tip of everyone's tongues. You and your father had thought of it all, an actor, singer, dancer, anything that tracked the words 'FAME!' with it. He was going to be proud of you; he was supposed to be proud of you. He was supposed to be here with you.

He wasn't supposed to be buried six feet under. Instead, they stuck every needle and pin into your skin, each mark covered by a litter of bandages and band-aids that some were decent enough to put on you. Was it your quirk? You doubted it, but he used that excuse time and time again. Kai was trying everything to take it away from you.

It developed relatively early; you could only remember bits and pieces of what had occurred. One minute you were asleep; the next, moths had flooded your entire room. You woke up one of the housewives in a panic, bawling in her arms as they fluttered around you. God was nice enough to grant you a pretty decent quirk; you could control what was known as silk moths.

You could also conjure silk from your body, but it mostly seemed to centre around your fingertips. There was a lot to unpack, but The Boss often told you not to meddle with it too much, especially around Kai. It was almost like he knew what was soon to come.

The first few months were met with resistance; they often had to cut you out of every bulky cocoon that you encased yourself in. No matter how many times they locked the windows, moths seemed to just appear out of thin air. Every webbed trap you put up was destroyed by one thing or another, and each punishment was worse than the last.

Kai was what you would call 'forgiving; the first few times, he'd only reconstruct your fingers at first. He despised touching anybody, but he hated your grated screams of pain. He used you as an example for his other subordinates and just to see how powerful his self-proclaimed 'curse' was. As days went by, each one seemingly repeating the other, you lost the will to fight, the last thing your father left with you.

ㅤ"...What is it today?" You muttered, finally meeting Rappa's eyes. His expression didn't falter, but he could see just how beaten down you had become. That flicker of fire you once had been extinguished long ago.

ㅤ"Are you not curious about what's for breakfast? You haven't even touched your toys the ladies bought you, (Y/N)." He replied, looking over to the pile of unopened boxes that you made. You only took one of the 'gifts' they had showered you with to win you over. A small plush rabbit, similar to one that a previous lady had bought you.

ㅤ"They aren't cute enough..." A lie, the group bought you the most expensive-looking things on the shelf. "Did Miss Akari get any new picture books...?" You asked, hiding any hint of excitement in your voice. There were few things in this world that you still enjoyed, but one of them has always been art. While reading was another thing, paintings and all art alike managed to catch your eye.

ㅤ"I can ask her later if you'd like, but let's get you something to eat. I'm hearing that you have a big day ahead of you." Rappa sheepishly scratched his neck, and he didn't miss the way your body and expression slumped at his words.

You could just imagine what the rest of your day would look like. Sat within that same cold, bright room, strapped down and unable to move. They never gave you a chance to process what was happening to you, and if you even  dared  to fight back, Kai would be right there to put you back in your place, literally. Deconstruction, starting at your leg, all the way to your chest until nobody in the room could handle your cries of anguish. The sight of your own blood splattered across the chair was enough to have you a sobbing mess; the fact that you could feel its warmth on your back managed to put you off every time.

You wailed and wailed; hell, you even begged Kai to just get it over with. A ten-year-old pleading for the sweet release of death, you were craving it. Yet, every single time you made it to death's doorstep, Kai ripped you away from it. No matter how much you screamed, cursed, or pleaded with him, he would stop at nothing to see his plans come to fruition. You had absolutely nothing but hatred in your heart for him, but fear overshadowed it every time his hand grew close to you.

As Rappa extended his hand, a gentle gesture that you were slowly getting used to, you hesitantly took it, being led towards the same dreaded room. A few members passed you by, looking at you with disgust or pity; it was easy to tell the difference at this point. There was nothing you could've done to deserve the hell you were subjected to possibly, and there was no way to justify it. A kid, that's all you were. Maybe this was divine punishment for something you did in a past life. How fucking wonderful.

ㅤ"He's not in a good mood today." Rappa began, snapping you out of your own mind. "Try not to give him too much trouble, for your own sake." He was talking as if Kai was your father, left to deal with an ungrateful, spoiled brat of a daughter.

You held back from snapping at Rappa, but you knew he wasn't as 'lovely' as the others. Other members would see your minor freakout and use that as an excuse to get physical. When Kai would ask about the extra bruises and more, it was all chalked up to disobedience. Without saying a word, you merely nodded in acknowledgement, finally reaching the room.

You referred to it as a torture chamber; it wasn't like you were completely wrong. Just as he went to open the door, the shrill sound of the alarm blaring caught the both of you by surprised. With your free hand, you moved to shield your ears from its harsh tone, and sat on top of Rappa's shoulders.

All you could do was sit and watch as various members scattered and ran off in different parts of the facility, tiny traces of smoke began to gather throughout the base. Then, everything seemed to fall apart within seconds, at the hands of who exactly? The Hero Association.

Rappa was blitzing right through the chaos and disorder within the area; you were surprised he didn't get into a fight yet. Oh, and by fight, you meant one that he'd have to try. Most heroes were down with a single punch or two, continuing their fruitless attempts to halt him in his tracks.

He seemed to be trying to avoid them, at least for your sake and most likely his own. If anything happened to you that could affect Kai's research, Rappa would pay for it with his life. That was until a pink, glitter-like mist began to flood the hallways. With each step he took, Rappa seemed to get more sluggish.

ㅤ"Hey..." You began, lightly smacking his back. "What's wrong with you?" A small part of you was genuinely concerned for him, and you couldn't help it. The other was simply for yourself; how were you going to get out of this?

Before he could respond, Rappa was tumbling towards the ground, causing you to do the same as well. You landed on your back with a harsh thud, knocking the wind right out of you. For a moment, you laid there to collect yourself, straining to remove his arm from over you. Despite their efforts to keep you healthy, you had little to no muscle strength at all, reducing you to a weak and skinny state.

Somehow, you managed to crawl out from under him, freezing at the pair of high heels that were in front of you. A wave of nausea had washed over you, accompanied by none other than fear. You were stuck, paralyzed. As you were in your own head, you couldn't even make out the woman's voice before you passed out right then and there. ㅤ
