Work Text:
What was once a sunny day turned to a cold breeze as you passed the threshold between Liyue and Dragonspine. After collecting all the Violetgrass that Albedo, the Knights of Favonius Chief Alchemist, asked you to grab, you wished it was a little warmer. If you could finally convince Sucrose to do the experiments with Albedo instead, you would be free. The thought left you feeling uncomfortable.
As you make your way up, you start to recall the time you spent alongside the alchemist. The memories of failed experiments and successful ones, long and short nights, and the alchemist himself all burn brightly in your mind. However, you can't seem to remember any of your recent chats with Albedo.
"What are you thinking about, Y/N?" Sucrose asked.
"When did you get here?" You replied, startled.
At first, the look on Sucrose's face is one of hurt, but quickly morphs into pity. "Y/N, don't you remember that we were-" before she finishes her sentence, you cut in. "We're here."
Albedo isn't anywhere to be seen. All fires or lights inside of his lab are gone, which is unusual. Even his equipment has a thin layer of dust.
"Sucrose, do you know where Albedo went?"
Sucrose is on the verge of tears as she takes your hand and leads you into the lab and to a weird rock formation in the center of it.
...
Not a rock formation. A tombstone
...
"C'mon Y/N, let's put the flowers down."
You kneel down to set the Violetgrass down, and you remember. You set the flowers down, and remember. You stand in front of the grave with Sucrose and remember. And as you remember, you think.
Maybe I haven't talked to Albedo in a while.
Why do I feel so sad?
I'm not okay.
But you will be okay. Tomorrow, Albedo wants you to bring him some Qingxin. And you will, since that's what you do for the people you care about.
