Chapter Text
“Got him,” Oliver growled into his comms as he raced back toward the other contingent of thieves/mercenaries/all-around-bad-guys.
“Copy that,” Felicity chirped back. “Or is it ‘roger’? I can never remember. Anyway, John, there's an illegal shipment of RPGs headed your way.”
“Roger that,” John replied, a smile clearly evident in his voice.
“So it is ‘roger’!” Felicity replied, as she heard both John and Oliver chuckle in her ear.

Felicity and Oliver had been back for 6 weeks. And things were really, really good. QC’s re-investment in the Glades was full steam ahead. It seemed that nothing brought a city together like a coordinated attack by superhuman soldiers.
Dozens of civilians had been severely injured and four people had tragically died as a result of Slade’s attack. But given all that Felicity knew about what could have happened that night, Starling City was extremely lucky that the plan executed by the Arrow and his allies had worked as well as it had. The whole city mourned with the families that had lost loved ones that night, and the whole city rallied around the rebuilding projects led by QC and the Queen family.
Things were okay on the QC front. Oliver’s ouster of Isabel and his clear-eyed leadership in the face of the series of Slade-created crises had firmed up his support amongst the board. Things could still be tense in the office some days, though, since Moira was in the building more often. Oliver’s mother had a special way of ratcheting up his frustration and anxiety. But Mrs. Queen seemed to have a new-found respect for her son, as both a CEO and a vigilante (since that particular cat had escaped the bag during the Slade saga), and mother and son were slowly working toward a relationship based less on the lies and half truths that had made up their old one and more on actual respect for one another.
For her part, Felicity was still absolutely, positively terrified of the Queen matriarch, something she told Oliver bluntly the first time he mentioned “family dinner.” Oliver was not dissuaded, though, and Felicity had managed to survive two such dinners without making too big a fool of herself. (She’d only mentioned Moira’s imprisonment once and her estrangement from Walter twice. Felicity thought, given how often her mouth tended to run away from her, that was a fairly impressive record.)
On the relationship front, Oliver was all but moved in with Felicity at this point. He’d spent a grand total of two nights at the mansion since their return from the island. It seemed what Felicity had once called a temporary arrangement was really nothing of the sort. She was thrilled. She got breakfast and orgasms every single morning. What more could a girl want?
John’s voice in her ear brought Felicity back to the current moment and another highly successful night for Team Arrow. “RPGs secure, Felicity. Oliver, do you want some back up?”
“Nope. We’re good over here, too. Roy and I will wrap these guys up for Lance and meet you back at the Foundry.”
“Roger that,” Felicity chirped. All three of the vigilantes in her ear chuckled.

Two hours later, Felicity and Oliver were finally back at her… their …apartment. Thank god their morning schedule at QC tomorrow was light. They could probably put off heading into the office until 9:30 or 10. So, even though it was already after 2 am, they might manage a solid six hours of sleep tonight. Hallelujah .
Three steps into the apartment, though, Oliver stopped abruptly. “Felicity, what’s that?” Oliver asked, pointing to the bright green fern she’d bought on a whim during her last trip to Trader Joe’s.
“It’s Fern.”
“Felicity, I love you. But you kill green things.”
“True. But you live here now, too, so you can keep her alive.”
“Her?”
“I mean, Fern is often a girl’s name, so…”
“You’re ridiculous.”
“You love it,” Felicity returned, wrapping her arms around Oliver’s waist and resting her cheek on his broad chest.
Oliver held her close and kissed the top of her head before saying softly, a smile clear in his voice, “True. And I’ll take good care of Fern.”

The next night was largely uneventful, and by 9 pm, Felicity was ready to be done, so she took off after announcing that she was going on a Target run. Something about running out of “literally everything” she needed to make her hair “do what it does so well.”
Alone in the foundry, John checked his guns while Oliver sanded arrowheads. Oliver broke the comfortable silence first: “I made you something, for the baby.”
Rising from his seat at the metal table next to Felicity’s workstation, Oliver crossed the space and retrieved a small box from the med cabinet. “I know I could have just bought something extravagant, and I’m pretty sure that Felicity has already set up a college fund using Queen money, but I wanted to give you something special, something personal. So I made this.”
Oliver handed the box over, and John’s face split in a broad grin when he saw what was inside. “An arrowhead.”
“I can’t make much, but these, I can make. I dulled the edges, though, so they can’t hurt her.”
“Thanks, man. This is…it’s really beautiful, Oliver.”
“I’m just so happy for you John. You and Lyla. And now a baby. A real family.”
“You should try it, too. I see the way you two look at each, Oliver. You and Felicity, that’s the real thing.”
“It is. It’s amazing. But I think we’re already moving at warp speed here. I want everything with Felicity, but I’m not sure the timing is right to take the next step.”
“Things are as good now as ever will be, Oliver. Talk to Felicity. Take the leap.”
Oliver nodded at John, and the other man turned to make his way toward the foundry steps before he paused and turned back to Oliver. “I don’t suppose you’d like to join me to put together the bassinet from hell?”
“Yeah. No. I think I’ll stick with the sharp objects for tonight.”
“Coward. You just don’t want to be in the line of fire if Lyla’s pregnancy hormones lead to yelling or crying.”
“Accurate. Night, John.”
“Night, man. And Oliver, think about what I said. You and Felicity deserve all the happiness. Don’t let fear stop you from going after it.”
