Chapter Text
lee heeseung loved to work his ass off.
being perfect came with a price. he was the rugby team's captain, and it was the official team of the university, crimson moon. rugby meant a lot to moon creatures, especially to vampires. and heeseung was clearly one. he was used to practicing so much that he forgot the time and place he was in. he worked out a bit more than the amount that would be considered healthy, other than working out and practicing, he was also a great student, always scoring the highest in every class he took. he was simply an ace.
perfection.
one thing he liked to do was spend extra time in the small gym at the back of the field. it belonged to the team members and coaches, and it was always very neat despite having multiple smelly vampires working out in there on a daily basis. he usually did it alone, he actually didn't-
he actually didn't have super close.. friends?
maybe that's why he had so much free time in his hands- or maybe he was too busy to be free for friends. either way, he still kept a friendly image and would chat with anyone comfortably since half of the campus knew him personally.
so when jake sim, one of his great team mates entered the gym, heeseung was a bit taken aback. "aye captain!" the boy greeted and heeseung instantly started gushing about how cute and handsome the other was in his mind. "hey! good to see you here-" heeseung said while lifting a shoulder dumbbell. he could see jake hesitate before taking off his team jacket.
"i've decided to work out more." jake said, and walked to the older to watch him, his gaze lingering around heeseung's biceps. "wah hyung-! your build is- wow!" he complimented and heeseung almost let go of the dumbbell. his cheeks turned a light pink. "haha thank you.." he responded.
jake just moved and started warming up. "oh! and thank you for the burger yesterday! recently it seems as if you've become me and sunghoon's savior." the younger said, laughing softly at what he himself said. heeseung only shook his hand, "oh don't mention it!" and a few seconds later, he sighed. "i actually thought of not- giving you the burger."
"eh? why?" jake was now doing some push ups, but he was stable enough to keep up a conversation, though he chose to use shorter words. the older switched the device he wanted to work with, staying on arm day legecy still.
"since you know- your boyfriend.. also got you one." he said and at that exact moment, he felt relived and also a pang of jealousy stung him like a bitch- right at his cold blooded heart which he can't remember when stopped beating exactly, maybe the moment he was born? maybe he didn't even have a heart to begin with.
"sunghoon might not look like it but he's super sweet." jake said, he sat on the ground, more interested in the conversation than working out. "he's really great, just super awkward and an introvert. he's just the cool type you know." he added, seeing as heeseung also stopped the work and came to sit beside him.
"i really want to get to know him." he said with a small smile and jake smiled back. "he really looks cool, and he's hella handsome."
"i know right, he's also very thoughtful, hyung! you need to be close enough to see." jake kept complimenting his lover and heeseung added even more compliments. soon enough the conversation was only about sunghoon- almost- no, basically they were both simping for a guy together, gushing over how strong and dependable he was and also his face.
"still, you two getting together was such a shock." heeseung said while laughing and jake smiled. "yeah. i'm shocked too. i thought i'd end up with someone else you know.." jake sighed softly, "i've liked sunghoon for a long time, but i also-"
the sound of clicking a lock of a door cut jake off, and both vampires' eyes widened. it was the lock down curse. it activated when the moon light shined on it completely from the arranged window for it, meaning it was already midnight.
"fuck!" heeseung swore under his breath. and out of literally everywhere he had to get locked up in the gym, and with jake- the boy he cared a lil too much about. "what do we do..?" jake seemed rather calm, calmer than heeseung, at least.
"we need a wizard." he groaned and jake's eyes lit up, "i know! sunoo knows magic." he said while taking out his phone to dial his friend. well- he didn't pick up, as usual. he never picked up when they called in the middle of the night, and he never told them why. jake let out a loud breath and just gave up. he laid on the ground and looked at heeseung who was checking the lock.
"captain." he called, his voice soft and sweet. "give up."
"but- we- i have things to do!" heeseung protested, like he was the younger one, and that made jake giggle. the older just ignored him and went to his bag. he looked for different types of potion jars that he kept in his bag for when needed, and none of them could help them. jake looked more than okay to be locked up in a gym with heeseung. he played with his phone a bit and then laid on his side, leaning his head against his hand.
"hyung, it's fine. the lock opens when the moon light is gone." he informed, and that gave heeseung a bit of hope. "are those potion? can i see?" he crawled to heeseung and his bag. the older didn't complain, he just let the other do anything he wanted.
he was actually panicking real hard.
jake leaned in close, and checked the jars. he took a blue one that looked like it had sparkles inside. "what's this one?"
"truth snowflake."
jake took another one, this one was the color of roses and was clear and bright, too pretty to be a potion. "that's crush potion."
"like love potion?" jake asked and opened the small jar's lid. he sniffed the potion and the scent was of a literal rose flower. "yes- a bit different. the potion causes the person to have a crush on the other, but it's not like falling in love." he explained patiently.
actually- no one had ever been so interested in his potion making. no one asked how good he was, no one asked if he had ever made a potion by himself. no one asked about the fails or successes. so now, jake seemed like the most important creature the moon ever shined on.
"you remember sunoo's memory necklace? is there a potion like that one?" jake asked curiously and heeseung nodded. he wasn't nervous anymore and felt extra comfortable thanks to jake's calm demeanor. "yes there is."
"which one is your favorite potion?"
"truth snowflake." he replied, and next thing he knew jake had dunked the whole jar. his eyes turned blue, then red, and back to dark brown. he laughed whole heartedly. "that's so cold!!" he said, snowflakes falling out of his mouth. heeseung face palmed and tried to get safe and sound out of this. jake was cold.
"i'm so cold hyung!" he said, each time he spoke snowflakes fell out of his mouth. "i think we can make a snowman soon!" he joked and giggled more. heeseung couldn't help but smile at the younger, he was really fond of the adorable boy.
"the potion makes you lose con-"
"actually heeseung hyung, you're the opposite of me, you're super super hot!" and that was the moment jake slapped his mouth shut. what had he done? heeseung's cheeks flushed a rosy pink, jake's ears turned red. it was a compliment, only a compliment so jake moved his hand and immediately regretted it; "i think sunghoon is also really into you." he slapped his mouth harder this time and heeseung gasped.
was this really happening?
"jake- just stop-"
"no really, i think we both find you extra attractive." snowflakes fell on jake's lap. he gave up. tears welled up in his eyes and he looked down. heeseung was quick to get out of the shock and pull the younger in his strong arms. "jakey.." he mumbled softly and patted the younger as he started hysterically blurting out every single secret he's had.
"i actually disliked sunoo for a period of time because i was jealous!" and then it went to stuff like, "i ate the last bunny pie riki's older brother sent him from his home country. it was so good," he sobbed, "werewolves are such amazing cooks!"
heeseung chuckled softly, still holding the boy against his chest. he said nothing, didn't react much, he wanted jake to think he didn't hear anything. soon a circle of snow was appearing around the boys. heeseung knew the potion's effect was gonna wear out soon since it was only a small dosage.
"i've liked you and sunghoon the same, since the same time." jake admitted, and sighed. he was sniffling, his cries stopped since it became easier to endure, since heeseung made him so comfortable. he felt weak and vulnerable but he also felt light and more free. like he had been sinning until then. he would hate it if one of those sinister demon creatures crawled up to moon's light and caught him by the ankle just because he's been lowkey cheating on his boyfriend.
"i don't deserve sunghoon." jake said after a few seconds and no more snowflakes fell out of his mouth. heeseung only squeezed the boy to himself tighter. "don't think that way. it's totally okay for you to like more than one person- however, you might.." the older sucked in a breath, he couldn't give advice and make it not be weird since he was the cause of all this, "i might need to tell him, right..?" jake whispered weakly and his captain- well, his crush-who-he-just-confessed-to nodded. jake was in pain. he couldn't wrap his pretty head around the idea of sunghoon getting mad at him, or hating him.
heeseung was even more in pain.
he kept silent. he only smiled and held jake with all of the kindness and love he had in his being. the boy was dear to him, and of course he was extra interested in the other one, but it felt very wrong with sunghoon literally having no idea of the truth.
so he stayed quiet and didn't give jake any answers. a few hours had already passed, and they needed to wait for a little bit more to get out of this hellhole. heeseung didn't think he would want to come back to this place for a good while. as the clicking sound of the door indicated they were free, heeseung woke the younger up. "jakey, door's open." he said gently and shook the boy a bit. jake opened his eyes and sat up. he was having an existential crisis.
was all of that a dream? he almost cheered but the moment he saw heeseung putting his potion jars back in his bag he frowned. the older was ready to leave, so jake quickly took his belongings and before the other could leave the gym, he blocked his way.
"heeseung hyung." he said softly, voice still low from the small nap he took. "i know you won't tell anyone a word about this; so can i be greedy and ask for a kiss?" he asked. heeseung was honestly taken aback. "this is wrong."
"then promise me, you will kiss me before you kiss sunghoon." jake said boldly, still blocking the boy's way. heeseung tilted his head. he couldn't quite understa- and then it sank in. "i will make you ours. not only mine, but sunghoon's too. so you better reject all other creatures, cause you deserve more than one lover." jake said, a big grin on his lips as he gave the poor captain a wink and headed out.
"see ya captain!" he called after leaving and heeseung stood there for a good minute. what the fuck had just happened. jake fucking sim. that boy's duality was definitely one of a kind, and the thing about him making heeseung their's? that was wild.
but after centuries, heeseung was starting to believe he actually had a heart which moved in his chest, because he felt like it was throbbing all the way up in his moth right now. he felt tingly all over and it was like a thousand spiders and bats started rampaging inside his stomach.
was this love? because he actually felt alive, and he had never been alive even once in his long, moon blessed life.
