Summer. Not many people liked summer. It was hot and the sun was always too bright. It felt like the temperature alone could melt metals. We couldn’t even imagine what it was like in the equatorial regions. The heat must melt humans themselves.
Chay wasn’t like others though. He loved summer. The summer season meant ice cream dates, late-night dinners at the beach, and evening walk with Kim. When Chay was a student, he hated summer too. Having to go to school with just an umbrella to shield him from the hot sun but nothing to shield him from the heat.
Now, summer isn’t so bad. Of course, Kim too, can only shield him from the sun and not the heat. But, Kim surely knows how to make the heat bearable. He brings ice packs for Chay to cool down when Chay complains about being too hot while studying.
He brings Chay milkshakes, iced coffees, and smoothies as a refreshment. He makes sure to freeze ice every day before going to sleep so that he can use them when he makes drinks for Chay. When Chay heats up at night but refuses to stop cuddling, Kim brings a wet cloth and places it on the back of Chay’s neck to balance out the temperature.
Kim steers clear from drinking something cold because he gets sick easily and he also cannot risk his voice. He takes Chay on evening walks a little before sunset and they look at the sunset together. He then buys Chay whatever he wants.
He makes sure to bring Chay a lot of fruits to make sure that the younger doesn’t dehydrate. He sticks little notes on Chay’s water bottle when he leaves for his internship as a medical student.
And Chay, he melts. Kim is so caring and he looks after Chay with so much love and gentleness that Porchay can do nothing but melt. He loved Kim and he would lay his life down for him because he knows, Kim would do nothing less for him.
