Work Text:
Fu Hua was anything but a lightweight drinker.
That was the mantra that ran inside her head a million times over as she pushed open the door to enter the house.
‘Not a lightweight. Not a lightweight. Not a lightweight. Not a lig-’
“Oh hey Hua!” Kiana waves a lone hand excitedly, tilting her head to the side to give her a familiar grin. A wine bottle held in the other along with a couple of glasses.
“Evening love…” Fu Hua says softly, her eyes creeping towards the alcohol in her hands. Her mind tumbles into another moment of panic as she remembers the last time she drank liquor.
It didn’t go well to say the least.
An embarrassed flush rose to her cheeks as she followed her girlfriend into the living room. She was glad Kiana couldn’t see the blush spreading across her face because she wouldn’t be able to hear the end of it.
Mei’s head pops out from the corner as she shoots her a happy smile which Hua was quick to return. Alcohol or not, her priority was her girlfriends.
Her girlfriends, not the alcohol.
Surely , a battle hardened warrior like herself can handle a bottle of wine.
“Excellent, let’s start!”
This was the best mistake Hua could have possibly made.
She realizes it a little, the effect of the alcohol had already taken over. Her speech was already slurred beyond recognition. A few hiccups slipped out from her mouth with a dopey smile dancing on her lips.
Fu Hua leans back a little, finding comfort in the warmth of Mei’s body and the blanket wrapped around the trio. She half listens to what Kiana says, there was a flushed expression on her face too. It makes her look more adorable though so Hua couldn’t even think about complaining.
“Hua? Are you still with us?” Mei snapped her finger in front of her eyes, bringing the lost focus in her eyes.
“Mm~” She hums softly, nestling under her chin as she hears Kiana cooing over the action.
“Mei she’s so adorbs, can we adopt her?” Kiana asks with a soft grin. The genuine tint to her voice makes it more laughable, making Mei double over with laughter.
“Kiana! She’s our girlfriend, you can’t just adopt her.” Mei says diligently, petting Hua’s head who was all too lost in the warmth given to her.
“Can too! Just look at her Mei, who wouldn’t want to adopt her!!”
“Cannot!”
“Can too!”
“Shut up both of you…” Hua groans, cracking open a lone eye to glare at Kiana who, for some reasons, was hovering over her face.
“Hey Hua, can we get married? Like for real? You are so pretty, let’s get married, okay?” Kiana babbles on, unmindful of the affects her words caused to the poor phoenix.
The searing hot blush on Hua’s face makes her more cute according to Kiana.
“Kiana… You can’t just say that and expect a coherent answer… even though I wanna hear the answer too…” Mei says as she glances down to see her girlfriend with an innocent shine to her amethyst eyes.
“Just accept it Hua, we’ll take care of you! You won’t have to fight anymore and we can all live happily ever after~” Kiana makes a heart figure with her hands with the same dopey smile on her face. It pulls on Hua’s heart strings more than she would like to admit so she finds herself mumbling a soft, “I guess…”.
“It’s decided! We are getting married!” The silver-haired woman starts whooping in joy and Hua finds herself chuckling at her antics.
“I am so happy to hear that Hua.” Mei says as she lays her chin on the top of her head, the loving smile on her face makes Hua’s heart melt.
“Me too!”
And Hua would be lying if she said that she’d rather be somewhere other than here .
This is her home. Her safe haven built from bricks of love, trust and understanding. Filled with adoration and so much more. She couldn’t wait to see it expand, for her to explore more about these two wonderful women.
Who knew that a simple invitation of drinking booze would lead to this. It’s almost laughable yet all the more amazing.
