Work Text:
Jungkook stood in his kitchen, hovering over his counter as he pulled the food he’d prepared from the pans and assembled it together on the plate. He glanced worriedly around the room, taking in all of the dishes he’d dirtied in the process, that he’d inevitably have to wash later.
Godammit, he thought. It’s his birthday, and he’s standing in his kitchen alone, having to do his own dishes.
It had been a steady stream in and out of his apartment all day. Family members and friends stopping by to wish him happy birthday and spend some time with him before heading back out. It wasn’t how he usually spent his birthdays. But this year was just a little different. Life seemed to be catching up with everyone quick, most of the people he knew being packed with schedules and various other responsibilities. And he understood. Everyone’s getting older, growing up. That’s just what happens.
He’d had birthday lunch with his family, so he was on his own for dinner. Seokjin and Jimin had came by to visit earlier, the former coming to terrorize him in the form of bringing him a questionably large amount of grapes, a strange new thing that he had inexplicably started doing to everyone. Jungkook grinned as he thought about it. He loved that weirdo.
The rest had called him to wish him the best, except for Taehyung, who’d been on a flight all day coming back to Seoul from New York. He figured he’d hear from him when he got cell service again.
He placed the pans into the sink and sat down at his table, beginning on the mini feast he’d prepared for himself. He’d gotten really good at cooking lately, not that he was bad before, but he’d gotten a lot of practice lately as he was spending more and more time on his own, at his place. Someone had once told him to “make a home in the quiet,” or something like that, and he was trying his best. But he really did like the company.
He was around 3/4 of the way done when he heard a knock at his door. He glanced over at the doorway, his eyebrows scrunched as he racked his brain for who it could be this late at night. Nobody had told him they’d be stopping by.
He stood up and made his way to the door, checking through the peep hole and immediately opening it upon realizing who it was.
Taehyung stood outside, a small black jacket draped over his white T-shirt, bag hanging off one of his shoulders. His hair was just a little messy, like it’d been a long day.
“Hey,” Taehyung greeted, a sweet smile falling over his lips as he looked at him.
“Hey,” Jungkook replied, his face flushed just a tad from the surprise. He really hadn’t expected Taehyung to turn up here. He imagined he was exhausted from his flight, needed to rest before his obligations in the morning. And, well, Taehyung probably was tired, based off his ever-so-slightly tousled appearance, but he still came.
“Happy birthday,” Taehyung added, stepping inside and closing the door behind him as he kicked off his shoes. “I uh…I didn’t get you anything. Sorry.”
“You didn’t need to, really,” Jungkook assured him, eyes a little wider than usual as he took him in. Yes, Taehyung was a little messy, but he still looked so gorgeous. “Thank you. Thank you for coming.”
“Of course,” Taehyung said it as if it wasn’t even a possibility that he wouldn’t have came. He took a few more steps into the apartment, stopping right in front of Jungkook.
Wordlessly, they pulled each other into a hug. In all honesty, it’d been a while since they’d seen each other. They’d both been reasonably busy, and seeing each other hadn’t really come up in their plans recently. Of course, they’d been thinking about it, a lot, sometimes thinking about it too much to the point where it became a distraction and they had to snap out of it.
They more or less accepted the distance that had managed to wedge itself in-between them when they were apart for extended periods of time. What with their history, they thought that it was a necessary evil.
It’d been a tad complicated in the last few years. There was that one night that it started, a confession that happened after one too many drinks, that lead to a night tangled up in Taehyung’s bed. And then there was the mostly blissful few weeks that followed that, where they’d sneak around and just have fun, not thinking too much about what it meant. And then there was the feelings, when Taehyung admitted that he wanted more than just the hookups, and Jungkook told him that he felt the same way, but he was too scared. And then there was the heartbreak. The nights spent crying, and then waking up in the morning and pretending they didn’t care. And then came the hookups…again, and they kept doing that for a steady while, until time started racing against them, and now they were here. Two people, most likely in love, though they wouldn’t say that out-loud, trying their best to stay away from one another, and failing miserably more often than not.
Jungkook was anxious as he looked at the other man. He hated the control that Taehyung had over him, but he also loved it even more. No, he told himself. Not this time. No, this time, they would just hang out, like the friends they are. And then Taehyung would go home, and they would go another week or two without seeing each other, and Jungkook would be perfectly fine with that. Right.
They pulled apart from the hug, but Taehyung kept his arms wrapped around Jungkook, holding him at arms length as he looked at him.
“You look beautiful,” Taehyung smiled, and Jungkook cursed him in his head. Stop it, he thought. You know what you do to me, stop it.
“You don’t look too bad yourself,” Jungkook said back, grinning, and Taehyung playfully shoved him back in faux offense.
“But, really. No present?” Jungkook asked, tilting his head and giving a wide eyed pout.
Taehyung laughed at him, turning away, and Jungkook silently let out a breath. Thank god.
“I’m afraid not.” Taehyung shrugged before extending his arms out at his sides. “I guess I just have to be your present.”
Jungkook laughed back at him, trying to ignore the heat that ran through him at the words. This is all just banter, he told himself. Yes, this he could do. Just joke around, he was good at that. He could do this.
“Damn, I was hoping for a Vitamix.”
Taehyung threw his hand over his heart, as if wounded. “You choose a Vitamix over me?”
“I mean, if it really came down to it…” Jungkook grinned.
“You little shit. Why don’t you just buy one then?”
“Cause then it’s not as special.”
They both giggled, letting the air settle around them, it feeling a lot less heavy than when Taehyung had first arrived.
Taehyung crossed his arms and looked down at his feet, a small smile lingering over his lips. Jungkook stilled as he watched him. He knew that expression. He knew that meant Taehyung was thinking, that any moment he was going to share his thoughts, and Jungkook braced himself for what it would be.
Jungkook was too anxious to wait around. “What?” he asked cautiously, tilting his head to look at him.
“Hm?” Taehyung asked, glancing up, now taken from his thoughts.
“What are you thinking about?”
Taehyung halted for a second, noticeably a bit hesitant to speak.
“Ah, nothing. Just…I miss you. Miss being around you.”
Ah shit, here we go again, Jungkook thought, immediately tensing. He pondered how he should respond. He needed to go into damage control, anything to stop them from messing up again. He considered, and then considered again. And then he realized very quickly that he is a weak, weak man whenever Taehyung is involved, and even though every rational bone in his body was telling him the right thing to do, for some reason, he didn’t quite feel like listening tonight. Who was he kidding, he never did.
“I…I know,” Jungkook started, glancing up at Taehyung. “But we don’t do that anymore, right?”
Taehyung’s lips formed into a straight line, an expression of disappointment he’d seen more times than he’d wanted to. He turned his head away from the sight. “Right,” Taehyung replied.
“Right.”
“Right.”
Jungkook kept his eyes trained on the floor, the wall, anywhere but Taehyung. Not looking at him was his last ditch effort, his last ounce of control. But, of course, he didn’t have much of that in this situation, and he felt his gaze move slowly across the room, and then fall back on Taehyung. His eyes always came back to Taehyung, in any circumstance.
And, he faltered.
“But, god, I miss it,” Jungkook said with a deep sigh. He watched Taehyung light up just a bit, but still cautious, still waiting for the rejection. But Jungkook knew, deep down, he wasn’t giving one of those tonight. “What if…just one more time. And then never again.” Jungkook said, his eyes flitting back and forth rapidly around the room as his heart rate started to pick up. Taehyung stepped closer to him, and then closer, and suddenly Taehyung’s hands were on him, and it was all over for him. “I mean, it is my birthday,” Jungkook shrugged and then felt a large smile take over his face.
“Well how could I tell you no on your birthday?” Taehyung answered, and then their bodies were being pushed together in one swift motion, and their lips were on each others.
Taehyung’s hands fell over Jungkook’s body, everywhere, anywhere he could touch him. They moved up and down him, grabbing at his ass before coming up to tangle in his hair. Jungkook’s own hands moved down to Taehyung’s shoulders, feeling over the area before grabbing onto Taehyung’s jacket and tossing it onto the floor.
Taehyung smiled into the kiss, he always loved it when Jungkook got eager like this. “You want me?” Taehyung asked against Jungkook’s mouth, his voice low and raspy.
“Obviously,” Jungkook huffed, already tugging at Taehyung’s shirt, which was currently tucked inside of his pants.
“Then take me.” Electricity shot through Jungkook. He’d heard Taehyung talk like this many times before, but every single time it still nearly brought him to his knees.
“Mm, come on,” Jungkook gasped, pulling Taehyung into his room and immediately falling onto the bed behind him, staring up at Taehyung expectantly.
Taehyung wasted no time in pulling off his own shirt and climbing on top of him, reconnecting their lips quickly. His fingers toyed at the hem of Jungkook’s shirt, dipping down under to trace along the skin, slowly and teasingly. Jungkook let out a sound that he knew roughly translated to Get this shirt off of me right fucking now, and Taehyung obliged, tossing the fabric behind him.
Taehyung moved his lips down from Jungkook’s, grazing his lips along his jawline, down his throat and collarbones, and then connected with his chest. He kissed along the hot flesh, licking around gently before his mouth reached Jungkook’s nipple and he began sucking lightly. Jungkook moaned softly, his fingers tangling into Taehyung’s hair as the older worked his mouth on him. Jungkook was already so sensitive, so hot in a way that only Taehyung could make him.
Taehyung detached his lips from him before sitting up, grabbing Jungkook to pull him over him, Jungkook now straddling Taehyung’s lap. Taehyung used this position to attack his neck with a barrage of kisses and small bites. Taehyung looked up at him for a moment, and Jungkook had done this with him enough times before to know that he was silently asking for permission to leave a mark on him. Jungkook nodded in approval, and Taehyung sucked the skin of his neck into his mouth, Jungkook groaning at the feeling. He loved when Taehyung marked him. He didn’t belong to him, couldn’t belong to him, but in this way, it felt like the only way he could. He could pretend for just a little, every time he saw the dark mark in the mirror.
Jungkook had gotten to the point where he was practically grinding down onto Taehyung, the feeling of need overwhelming him in the other’s arms. Taehyung gasped as he did it, looking up at him darkly, clearly needing this just as much as he did.
Jungkook’s heart skipped a beat, his body jumping as a knock sounded at the door. Taehyung stopped immediately, breath heavy and completely disheveled, staring in the direction of the living room.
“You’ve gotta be kidding me,” Taehyung could barely speak through his panting.
“Oh my god,” Jungkook gasped, looking down at Taehyung with an unreadable expression. His thoughts were still completely muddled as he tried to collect himself enough to get up. “I’m sorry.”
Taehyung only groaned as Jungkook found the strength to pull himself out of Taehyung’s lap and onto the floor. He legs were shaky, everything was shaky, really. He scanned the floor for his shirt, finding it just as a second round of knocking rang through the apartment.
Taehyung looked absolutely dazed, like he hadn’t yet fully snapped back to reality. He moved silently off the bed and stood up, his hand coming up to rake through his hair roughly as he stared at the ceiling for a few moments. “Could not have timed that any worse,” he finally spoke, bringing his head down to look at Jungkook. A smile came over his lips before he burst out laughing, and Jungkook joined him. This was an absolutely ridiculous situation that they’d managed to get themselves into. They were good at that.
Taehyung rubbed at his eyes, trying to clear the last bits of haziness.
Jungkook glanced down to where Taehyung was clearly hard in his pants. He moved over to him, and placed a soft kiss over his lips.
“Hey, I’ll help you with that after they leave,” Jungkook consoled him. “I promise.”
Taehyung gave him a light kiss back. “Pinky promise?”
Jungkook giggled and wrapped his pinky around Taehyung’s, the two of them stopping for just a moment, staring at one another, before Jungkook broke away and headed towards the door.
When he opened it, Hoseok barreled inside.
He had one of those party blowouts in his mouth, and he was setting it off rapid fire before pulling it out and loudly proclaiming a happy birthday to Jungkook.
Jungkook grinned ear to ear with the absurdity of the gesture, but he was always partial to Hoseok’s birthday wishes for that very reason. He had a bit of a flair for the dramatic, and Jungkook found it very endearing.
Hoseok glanced over and noticed Taehyung, who was laying back on the couch, a blanket thrown inconspicuously over his lap. Smooth, Jungkook thought to himself, smiling.
Hoseok held up the bag that he was holding, which Jungkook assumed must be holding a present, or food, or both.
Jungkook grabbed it and peeked inside, but inside the bag was a box.
“If the box has another box in it, and then another box inside of that box, I’m kicking you out,” Jungkook warned and Hoseok only laughed at him.
Jungkook moved to sit down on the couch, Hoseok resting in an armchair. Jungkook pulled the box open, and surprisingly, was met not by another box, but by what appeared to be a lens. He pulled the object out, which revealed itself to be a digital camera. He inspected it, realizing it had been the exact one he’d had his eye on lately, but had never gotten around to actually buying.
“No way,” Jungkook glanced up at Hoseok who had a large smile on his face, and then back down to the camera in his hands.
“I heard you were in the market for it, so.”
Jungkook moved over to Hoseok and wrapped him up in a hug. Hoseok pulled away and sat back down.
“Thank you so much, hyung.”
Hoseok nodded sweetly, and turned to look at Taehyung. “I guess I don’t deserve all the praise, Taehyung gave me the idea.”
Jungkook shot his head over to Taehyung, eyes wide.
“So I guess you could say I kind of got you a present.” He shrugged. “I mean, I didn’t pay for it, but it’s the thought that counts, right?”
Hoseok laughed and patted Taehyung on the shoulder as he moved into the kitchen. “Hey! You made dinner and didn’t invite me?”
Jungkook bit back a smile as he looked at Taehyung. “Uh oh, I think you’re in trouble,” Taehyung said, grinning.
Jungkook stared at him for a second, probably a few seconds too long. “Yeah. I’m in a lot of trouble.”
Jungkook silently got up and made his way into the kitchen.

Hoseok had stayed for around an hour and half-ish before he excused himself home for the night. Jungkook thanked him another time for the gift, and Hoseok waved his hand in humble acknowledgment, giving him and Taehyung another hug and headed out the door.
Jungkook locked the door behind him, turning around to see Taehyung staring at him. Jungkook leaned back against the door, his hands behind him, as they stared wordlessly at each other.
Well, this was incredibly awkward.
Just an hour ago they were about ready to swallow one another whole, and now they were staring at each other soberly, completely clothed, heads a lot clearer than they had been.
“Hey,” Jungkook started, not quite sure what so say. “I’m sorry about that, really.”
“No, it’s okay. It’s your birthday. We should’ve expected people would be coming over.”
Jungkook gave a small laugh just to clear the air of the awkward tension.
“Yeah,” Jungkook pushed back against the door even more, almost as if he was physically distancing himself as much as possible. “Maybe it was a sign. It was stopping us from making a mistake.”
Taehyung nodded silently, arms crossed again as he shifted his weight uncomfortably from foot to foot.
“You’re right,” Taehyung conceded. He looked up to meet Jungkook’s eyes. “We don’t do that anymore.”
“Exactly, we don’t,” Jungkook nodded, staring off into the distance. And then, because this was Jungkook, and he was in the presence of Taehyung, he added, “But what if we did, just one more time?”
Taehyung did not need to be told twice.
“Fuck, come here,” he huffed as he moved over to Jungkook, pushing the younger against the door as his lips met his in a rough kiss.
Yeah, all bets were off now.
Taehyung pushed into him even more, pinning Jungkook against the wall with his own body, his knee coming to wedge itself in-between Jungkook’s legs. Taehyung grabbed Jungkook’s hands into his own and brought them up to wrap around the back of his neck, a silent plea to Jungkook that meant Please hold onto me, please don’t let go of me this time.
Jungkook opened his eyes to look into Taehyung’s, and a wave of what he could only describe as possessiveness came over him. As in, he held Taehyung between his arms, and he could see the look in Taehyung’s eyes that was more than just lust. There was a neediness there, a look that said You are going to break my heart one of these days. And Jungkook understood why, and he understood that he never wanted it to happen. He wanted to cradle Taehyung’s sweet, delicate heart in his hands, forever, and never let anyone hurt it. Especially not himself.
Jungkook brought one of his hands up to Taehyung’s face, placed it softly against his skin, and then kissed Taehyung in the sweetest way we ever had, in a way that said I think I love you more than anything and that terrifies me and I want to tell you but I can’t, so I’m kissing you like this instead and I hope you understand.
When Jungkook pulled away and looked into Taehyung’s eyes, he was pretty sure Taehyung did.
They moved in a flash to Jungkook’s room, Taehyung pushing Jungkook up against his bedroom door and pulling his shirt off like his life depended on it. He pulled Jungkook away from the door and then laid him down carefully into his bed, staring into Jungkook’s eyes as his head hit the pillow, a million images flashing in his mind of what he wanted to do to him, what he wanted to do for him, what he wanted to be for him. How he wanted to live like this with him, and see this sight every morning and every night, Jungkook’s hair tossed messily underneath him, his body falling slack underneath him, as if inviting him to do what he wanted with it, like it was his and only his. To not have to spend every time they do this trying to memorize every little detail because what if it’s the last time, to know that there will always be a next with him, to know that Jungkook’s is his, and he is Jungkook’s.
That is what he wanted more than anything else, and so he figured he’d show him.
Taehyung took his time, moved his mouth over what felt like every inch of Jungkook’s skin, the flesh on fire underneath him. He moved slowly down Jungkook until he met his cock, hot and throbbing against his lips. He kissed along the length of it, Jungkook moaning a long string of curses beneath his breath, looking down at Taehyung from where he lay, hooded eyes filled with pure need.
Of course that could never stop Taehyung from being the tease that he was.
“Do you want this, hm? Do you want me?” Taehyung’s voice was low and dangerous in a way that made Jungkook shiver.
“Yes. So fucking much.”
Taehyung stared up at him. “So perfect. So fucking perfect,” he whispered, and then took Jungkook into his mouth.
Jungkook let out a loud moan at the contact, a feeling of relief washing over him after an hour of inadvertently blue balling each other.
Taehyung began bobbing his head right away, his mouth so warm and perfect around him, Jungkook could only think He was not kidding when he said he was the present.
Taehyung’s mouth kept moving on him, and he pulled Jungkook’s legs over his shoulders, pulling him as close as he could. Jungkook’s hands were in Taehyung’s hair, tugging at the strands with desperation. He hit the back of Taehyung’s throat, the choking sounds that he made filthy and beautiful, and Jungkook was already on the verge of release.
As if reading his mind, Taehyung pulled off, eliciting a whine of protest from Jungkook.
“Taehyungie-“
“You are not coming yet, baby.”
Jungkook’s heart fluttered at the name. It had been way too long since he’d heard it.
Jungkook sat up, wrapping his arms around Taehyung’s neck and bringing him into a gentle kiss, which quickly grew deeper, and then rougher. Taehyung felt Jungkook’s hands against his chest, trying to push him down. He looked at him questioningly.
“Let me do something for you,” Jungkook whined.
“Uh-uh, baby. It’s your birthday,” Taehyung said as he pushed Jungkook back down onto the mattress. “Just let me take the lead, okay baby?”
Jungkook nodded in agreement because he definitely wasn’t going to argue with that. He not-so-secretly loved it when Taehyung took control, so he was never hesitant to submit to that when he asked.
Taehyung peppered light kisses along Jungkook’s collarbones, leaving tiny bites here and there on the smooth, soft skin.
Taehyung rested his head against Jungkook’s chest for a moment, and then nuzzled his face into the crook of his neck, breathing him in. A comfortable quiet settled over them, both of them content in the wordless company of one another. Jungkook closed his eyes for a moment, imagined this was just a normal, unimportant day, the two of them going to bed or waking up like this, wrapped up in one another, no beginning and no end. Just the two of them, with the knowledge that it would be like that for the rest of the nights that they spent on this earth. He opened his eyes back up, Taehyung now propped up on one arm, watching him.
“Where’d you go?” Taehyung asked, studying him.
“Somewhere wonderful,” Jungkook answered, not sure if he meant that hopefully or bittersweetly.
Taehyung kissed him sweetly— so, so sweetly— and then moved his mouth to hover over Jungkook’s ear as he spoke.
“How do you want this?” Taehyung asked, staring deeply at him.
“Like this,” Jungkook answered quickly, because that was an easy question for him. “I want you like this. I…I want you to look into my eyes while you fuck me.”
Jungkook felt shy as he said the words, because somehow, even though he’d had sex with Taehyung so many times that he’d lost count, Taehyung had this way of always making it feel like it was the first time.
“Fuck, Jungkook.” Taehyung let out a sharp breath. “How can you just…that fucking mouth of yours.”
Taehyung crashed his lips against him, now clearly on a mission to take revenge against those sweet lips that held so much power over him. Their breath was hot against one another, the kiss messy and careless as their tongues moved together, and a thick coat of saliva formed over both their mouths. When they pulled apart, they were both a bit taken back at how much they’d ravaged each other. Red, plump lips and hair in absolute disarray.
“Taehyungie?”
“Hm?”
“I need you now.”
Taehyung understood and got to work right away, rummaging through the side table, looking for what he needed. He located the condoms and a bottle of lube, tossing the former onto the bed as he worked the lube over his fingers.
Jungkook watched him from where he laid, just taking him in, raking his eyes up and down the length of his body. He though to himself how familiar Taehyung’s body was to him, how familiar it felt against him, how familiar being touched by him was. It was the kind of familiarity that made him feel at home, like after a long, exhausting week where he stretched himself thin over and over again, Taehyung was there at the end of it, and it made everything feel a lot less big. Less exhausting. Less scary. He wondered what it would feel like to have that feeling for the rest of his life.
Jungkook was snapped out of his thoughts by the feeling of Taehyung’s finger on him, teasing along his skin, gently grazing down the inside of his thigh, closer and closer, until it landed on the entrance. Taehyung’s eyes flicked up at him, a silent question to proceed, and Jungkook nodded. He felt the first finger slip in, and he tensed for a moment at the feeling before relaxing into the touch. It’d been a while since they’d done this, so he was a bit more sensitive.
Jungkook felt the stretch of Taehyung’s long fingers inside of him, opening him up for him. As he slipped a second one, and then a third one inside, he felt his legs begin to tremble a little. He wanted this so bad, had wanted it for so long while trying to convince himself that he didn’t. Some people say that if you tell yourself a lie enough times, you’ll start to believe it. If you ask Jungkook, that’s absolute bullshit. Because for all the years he lied over, and over, and over again to himself about how much he didn’t need Taehyung, he always found himself right back here: in bed with him, legs shaking and heart racing from how much he absolutely needs him.
Jungkook had gotten so caught up that he didn’t realize he’d been moaning up a storm, causing Taehyung to pull his fingers out and ask, “Are you ready, sweetheart?”
Jungkook couldn’t ignore the pang in his chest. Sweetheart. Yep, that was definitely going to be echoing in his brain nonstop for the next week, at the least.
“Yeah,” Jungkook answered through shaky breaths and Taehyung pulled the condom onto himself.
Taehyung came down, his arms on either side of Jungkook’s head, hands tangled into his hair. Jungkook wrapped his legs around Taehyung’s waist, as Taehyung positioned himself and slowly slid in.
Jungkook winced just a bit, and Taehyung studied his expression for the green light. Jungkook almost wanted to cry from the mixture of pleasure and pure adoration for Taehyung, his attentiveness. I’m in so deep, Jungkook thought.
Taehyung began to kiss all along the area of his chest and neck as he started to move slowly in and out. Taehyung hushed Jungkook’s whimpers with his own mouth, and then he was grazing along his chin with his lips, and Jungkook felt like he was on fire.
Taehyung started to speed up a little, his thrusts getting a little harsher as he did, and the sounds coming out of Jungkook’s mouth becoming less controllable.
Now Taehyung’s head was buried into the crook of Jungkook’s neck, his own moans vibrating against Jungkook’s skin. His mouth moved to Jungkook’s ear.
“Tell me what you want,” he whispered. “Do you like this? Or do you want me to go harder?”
Jungkook moaned just from the talking, because communication is hot as fuck.
“I…” he started but was cut off when a sharp moan came out instead. “I want it harder.”
The corners of Taehyung’s mouth quirked up just a bit. “Like it rough?”
“You- ah- you already know that,” Jungkook teased back through his panting.
Taehyung did as he said, moving faster, and harder, and Jungkook’s brain had turned into a scattered mess incapable of forming a coherent thought. His legs were shaking hard now, and Taehyung grabbed at one with his hand to steady him.
With his free hand, Taehyung moved down to Jungkook’s cock and began stroking. Normally, he’d make him beg for that, but it was his birthday and he was feeling nice.
Taehyung was on the edge himself, but he wanted the other man to come first tonight. He knew that Jungkook was about to come undone any second, he had him memorized so well, he knew every little sign and detail when it came to him.
“Taehyungie, I’m gonna-“
“I know, baby. Go ahead.”
Jungkook spilled out onto him as the orgasm crashed through him, the sounds that came from his mouth pushing Taehyung even closer. Taehyung continued moving inside of him, feeling the warmth around him, one of his favorite feelings ever, if it was Jungkook. A few more pumps and he was coming loud and hard, his face falling back into Jungkook’s neck as he finished.
“God!” Jungkook gasped as they both came down from the high.
“Yeah,” Taehyung agreed.
“Why don’t we do that every night, and every morning, and just…always, all the time?”
Taehyung laughed at Jungkook, grabbing his face with his hand and giving him a small kiss on the lips. He grabbed a tissue from the nightstand and wiped his other hand off with it.
“Hey…I wouldn’t argue if you wanted to,” Taehyung started. “But you said this was the last time.”
Oh, right.
Jungkook sobered a bit when he heard that, remembering what he’d said that night before it happened, remembering what he said every time it happened. It was always “the last time” when they started, but never when they finished.
“Taehyung…” Jungkook turned on his side to face him.
“What?” Taehyung asked, a hint of nervousness obvious in his voice. He was anticipating the worst, always did.
“I don’t know.”
“You don’t know?”
“I just don’t know what to do.”
Taehyung sat up now, a little surprised that Jungkook had said something different than This was just a casual thing, right?
“Don’t know what to do about what?”
Now Jungkook sat up, and gently grabbed Taehyung’s hands into his own. Taehyung squeezed a few times.
“I don’t know what to do about…the fact that I think I’m falling in love with you.”
That wasn’t entirely the truth, because it wasn’t think, it was know, but Jungkook didn’t want to come on too strong.
“Jungkook…”
“Wait! Before you say anything, just hear me out. I know I’ve been…really wishy-washy in the past. And I’m so sorry for that, really-“
“Jungkook-“
“But! It was…it is all just so complicated and terrifying. And I’m not…I’m really sorry I couldn’t be strong for you. I’m sorry I lead you on over and over again, and treated you like you’re just a hookup.”
Taehyung had gone silent now, no longer trying to interrupt.
“Because you’re not just that to me. You never have been, I was just too afraid to admit it. Because you’re my friend, right? That’s all we’re supposed to be. But every time I see you, fuck, Taehyung. You make me feel…something that I’ve never felt with anyone else. And I think I want that, no, I know I want that. And so…I know I don’t deserve another chance, really, but I just-“
“Jungkook!”
“Yeah?”
“I’ve loved you from the very first day.”
Jungkook stared at him, mouth ajar just a little.
“I’ve loved you…way before the first time anything ever happened between us. Hell, probably from the first time I met you, if I’m being completely honest. And I know things have been…not great lately. But, Jungkook, we’re people, okay? We’re not going to be perfect. And, I hope you know that you never have to be perfect for me.”
Jungkook might have started to tear up a little, but he bit it back.
“I just…I hope you never felt unwanted by me. Because that’s never true, ever,” Jungkook said.
“Of course not. We’ve both been hurting…for a long time. And I understand why you did what you did, and why I did what I did. And honestly, I really don’t care about the past anymore. I just want you.”
Suddenly Jungkook was in his lap and his lips were on his, and it felt like melting, but in the best way. Like they’d been keeping their hearts frozen and stored away all this time, just waiting for the right time to come, and now it was here. And it felt better than anything.
“Damn, we really failed on the “one more time” rule this time,” Taehyung said.
Jungkook giggled. “It was a stupid rule anyway.”
“We’re stupid too.”
“Hey!” Jungkook said, swatting at him.
“What? I said we,” Taehyung defended. “We’re such idiots for not doing this sooner.”
“Whatever,” Jungkook rolled his eyes. “Just shut up and kiss me.”
“Wait!” Taehyung stopped him. He waited a few moments, Jungkook staring impatiently and expectantly into his eyes. “I love you.”
Jungkook’s heart skipped several beats, but there was no hesitation in him. “I love you too.”
“Say it again,” Taehyung said, leaning in closer.
“I love you.”
“Again.”
“I love you, I love you, I love-“
Jungkook was cut off by Taehyung crashing his lips into his before they sank back into bed.

“My god Jungkook. How did you manage to make such a mess cooking one meal?” Taehyung looked around the kitchen, the full sink and scattered utensils all over the counters.
“Cooking is hard work.” Jungkook shrugged as he stepped in front of the sink and turned on the faucet.
“Uh-uh.” Taehyung grabbed Jungkook by his waist from behind and lifted him away from the sink. Jungkook let out a small scream followed by a fit of giggles. Taehyung sat him on the countertop.
“You’re not washing the dishes on your birthday, my love.”
Jungkook smiled, because what did he do to deserve this, and then watched Taehyung as he started scrubbing the pans.
“Haven’t you given me enough birthday gifts already?”
Taehyung turned the sink off and walked over to stand in between Jungkook’s legs, grabbing onto his bare thighs under his shirt.
“I can give you another one right now if you want.”
Jungkook screamed again as Taehyung whisked him off the counter and started heading towards the room again.
“Taehyung!” Jungkook shouted through laughter.
“What?”
“I love you.”
“I love you too.”
“Also, you’re insane.”
“Love makes you creepy, makes you obsessed with your hair, makes you cruel, makes you say and do things you never thought you would do-“
“Do not quote Fleabag as foreplay.”
“Well now I will every time.”
“Shut up.”
“Make me.”
“You know what? I hope someone knocks on the door and interrupts us.”
“You’re evil.”
“A wise man once told me, love makes you-“
“No!”
Jungkook just laughed at him and then they disappeared into the room, falling into one another, and anticipating a knock that, this time, never came.
