The sound of soft, rhythmic breathing hung in the air like a gentle cloud, it being the only noise that filled the quiet and peaceful room.
Beautifully mellow, sherbert colored rays of sun illuminated through the window, outlining and blending with the exposed skin of two figures that lay on the bed, their arms wrapped around eachother in a warm cuddle.
The smaller figure of the two was a certain rat girl, she lay nuzzled up against the space above her companions chest, savoring it's warmth and the gentle rise and fall. Her ears occasionally twitched as the nephilim under her's breath grazed up against them.
Bae and IRyS have been following the same routine ever since the nephilim's room had been added to the council's quarters. They would start the day tangled up in each others arms and then spend the time waking up together by bantering and sharing actions of affection. To the duo, there was no better way to start the day, just being able to glance over and see their companions face nearby was enough to make any possible stress melt away and be replaced with a wave of calm.
Moments of comfortable silence ticked by, until a quiet mumble came from IRyS, soon being followed by her eyes slowly fluttering open, taking in the surroundings. She looked down, feeling a smile tug at her lips as she took in Bae's appearance. The rat girl's long hair was flowing freely down her back, and her face had a peaceful expression on her face, seemingly having a good dream. Her mouth was open slightly, small glimpses of her sharp teeth being shown as she drooled. The sight made IRyS's cheeks darken with a blush, and her heart flutter with joy, this was the life she had to look forwards to, and she wouldn't trade it for the world.
She was brought out of her sleepy daze by the sound of a tiny, squeak like noise coming from her wife, her mouth closing before her eyes opened up, the fresh gloss of sleep coating them. IRyS moved up one of her hands and pet the side of Bae's head, a gentle smile on her face while doing so.
"Morning, sleepy head.."
Bae nuzzled into her touch, looking up at her with a loving gaze and a caring smile.
"G'mornin.."
These were the moments that IRyS loved more than anything, the ones where she wishes she could take a picture of in her head and linger on the memories forever. Since she can't, she makes sure to cherish each morning spent with her loveable rat, as well as the day that comes with each sunrise.
