Chapter Text
The alarm clock beeped on Henry Jekyll's nightstand, taking him out of the dream he was having. He sat up in bed, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. The clock read 7:10 AM. He didn't have work today, but he always stayed on schedule regardless of the day. It wouldn't hurt to sleep in, he thought to himself. He quickly brushed away those thoughts, not wanting to give in to temptation, and got out of bed.
7:30 AM. Fresh out of the shower, Henry continued his morning ritual. He had 5 o'clock shadow, despite being the morning, and it was not pretty. He wasn't pretty anyway. However, as he shaved, he noticed something peculiar. His reflection's face wasn't matching his own. It looked...scared and confused. He narrowed his eyes, reaching his hand to the mirror, but his reflection had already returned to normal. Weird. He finished shaving and continued his routine.
7:41 AM. There was a note on the fridge door from Poole. "Running a few errands, I'll be back at around lunch," Henry read aloud. He didn't really like being alone in the house, it felt twice as big when no one was around. He shrugged it off, opening the fridge to look at his breakfast options. Selecting a few eggs, he set about to make an omelet. Before he could turn on the stove, he felt a chill go down his spine. It felt like someone was staring over his shoulder. He slowly glanced behind him, turning to see a floating white figure with giant red eyes. The figure screamed, causing Henry to scream. The figure moved backwards, extending his arms in a karate pose. Henry in turn held up the frying pan he was going to use as a shield. The figure was breathing heavily, and something seemed familiar about him. "Make one move and I'll tear your balls off," he threatened. His voice was shaky and hoarse. Just like-
Henry's eyes widened. No, this couldn't be! "Wh-who are you?" he asked quietly. "Edward Hyde, I think," the figure said, his shoulders tensing. "Oh my God you're a-a-alive," Henry stuttered. "Yeah, and it's freaking me out! Who the hell are you and where am I?!" Edward shouted. Henry set the frying pan down. "Okay calm down, please, and try to avoid using such coarse language." He gestured to himself. "I am Dr. Henry Jekyll, you may call me Henry or Dr. Jekyll, whi-whichever you prefer. As I cook my eggs, I'll try to explain, um, what's occuring."
