Chapter Text
It was a dark, cold, and stormy night. Forty thieves sat around a- No. A single human sat in front of her computer scrolling lazily as it stormed outside. A hurricane or something. You were just waiting for the router, and ultimately the power to go out before you would be sitting in the dark and sweating to death. You already had a candle lit and a few glow sticks around your apartment, waiting for the inevitable. You messaged your friends and family, letting them know what was up hours ago. So now you were simply playing the waiting game.
Everything was set after all. Window boarded from the inside, as if you could get to the third floor window of your apartment building from the outside. Candles, flashlights, glowsticks, canned food. Can opener. Portable phone batteries, fully charged. And your most important electronics unplugged and off. Except the router. That was gonna fry no matter what and was free to replace. Thought it would be a pain and you would prefer to avoid that. You even had a cooler full of ice and your bathtub filled with water. Just in case.
Things were boring as hell though; you not even remotely scared of the ‘horrible storm’ raging outside your window. So you scroll through you Cheeper and Jumblr accounts. It was nothing but cats, pagan tips and tricks, anime, lolita fashion, and skeletons. So. Many. Skeletons. Ones in snazzy suits. Ones with wings, cat ears, tails. Ones who were good, evil, both. Sexy and cute. Even ones with parts that clearly didn’t belong on a skeleton. Yes, you were neck deep in the Undertale fandom and it’s many AUs.
“Ah~ So cute~”
You let out a happy little sigh before leaning back in your chair to crack your back. Your apartment was small, cheap, and falling apart. But it was clean, organized, and full of your treasures. Undertale merch for days, books from floor to ceiling, plushies, crystals, candles, knives, cosplay. And enough crafting and office supplies to fill a store. Your whole life was in this apartment; all your interests and hobbies. Even some survival gear. You know, in case of a zombie apocalypse or something. Okay, you’re eclectic and paranoid. But you like your things, okay!?
“Okay… Better unplug this thing before it fries. And save the stupid router… And take off my pants.”
You groan as you get up from your swivel chair. It was already getting hot and the power didn’t even go out yet. What a pain. You turn off the computer and unplug it before heading over to the router. Another groan escapes you as you lean down. But you couldn’t reach the plug. Cursing under your breath, you get on your hands and knees and crawl under the desk. A small tremor shakes your apartment building, causing you to fall forward and grab the cable. It was then lightning struck the building.
Despite the rubber and plastic, with your hand so close to the outlet, you were suddenly flooded with electricity. It burned. Everything burned and all you could see was white before your vision went spotty. You felt like you were melting from the inside out and could smell yourself burning. Feel your blood boil and flesh charring. You scream. You screamed before everything went black.
…
……
………
…………
It’s cold. That’s the first thing you notice. It’s cold and the only sound is the electric buzzing of fluorescent light bulbs. You open your eyes only to quickly close them again. It was so bright! It hurts to open them. But you needed to get up. How long have you been passed out? Were you in a hospital? You weren’t in pain, though you felt kind of tingly. A groan escapes you as you open your eyes again and sit up. Well… It sort of looked like a hospital. Only… Emptier. No windows, no equipment. In fact, the only thing in the room was the bed you were laying on, a sink, and a mirror. What the fuck?
Looking around the room in confusion, you carefully slip off your… cot? And walk around the sterile room. There was no door, just an entryway, but you were too thirsty to care about that just this moment. Walking over to the sink, you reach out before freezing. Your heart rate picks up. Your hand. It was bone. Only bone. No, your arm- both arms- You run your boney hands over yourself and look down at the hospital gown covering you. You were all bone. You quickly look in the mirror and almost scream. A skull! You were a fucking skeleton! You start to hyperventilate. Were you dead? Was this hell?! Oh god oh god oh god oh- You look in the mirror again and notice white little lights staring back at you. Eyelights? No but- You didn’t look like a human skeleton. You looked like some sort of-
“Oh my stars I look like Sans-”
At least your voice was the same. But shit. SHIT. Shit shit shit shitshitshit. This had to be a dream. Right? There was no way this couldn’t be a dream. No… You were thinking about it being a dream so it wasn’t one. And this was more real than your occasional lucid dreams. You could smell, hear, taste the air. The next thing you know you find yourself on the floor in a fetal position and hugging yourself. You were tiny. Maybe you could just… Disappear and- The sound of footsteps echo from the hallway and your head shoots up. You were terrified. What even was this? Some kind of Undertale Iseaki? Well it sucked and you wanted to go home, now.
A tall figure in a lab coat walked to the doorway and stood there while staring at a clipboard. A skull with small spectacles balanced mysteriously on their nose ridge. A crack running up from the right eye and another crack running down to their chin from their left. Spectral hands floated about the figure, all with a perfect circle missing from the palm. There was no one else this could be… Gaster. As if hearing your thoughts, Gaster looks up from his clipboard and frowns.
“Already awake. And managed to move across its cell.”
You watch as Gaster pulls out a handheld recorder and starts to talk into it. You stay completely still and try to take in everything he says. Anything to get an inkling of the situation you now found yourself in.
“Subject S-001 is conscious and appears to be confused and wary of its surroundings. Subject has cornered itself. Seems to be very aware of movements and sounds, though it has yet to make noise itself. Will need to run tests on magic and vocal receptors. Will also test for movement and magic flow as they seem to look like temperature is affecting them. I cannot have them dying this soon, it would be a waste of material and time. It is vital that I do a thorough check-up on them, as I need results for the King. Eye lights are white, bone structure seems healthy from first glance-”
Gaster steps further into the room, his pencil making small sounds as he documents his notes. He glances back down at his clipboard, causing his glasses to slide off his skull slightly. One of his hands moves, replacing the glasses to their original position. His eyes narrow as he watches your eyelights follow him, tracking his every movement. You don't move. Mostly because you are in shock, but also because you are already in a corner. You couldn't exactly move back any more than this. You feel something similar to adrenaline running through you, keeping you aware of everything and ready to run. Oh how you wanted to run. But he was between you and the exit. It is then you notice his floating hands holding several instruments behind him. Gaster places the tools on the sink then turns to you. A shiver runs through your body.
"It's time for your checkup."
You continue to watch him as he moves. Shit. Shit shit shit shit. What the fuck kind of tests was he planning on putting you through!? And why was he even speaking to you as if you would answer? Was it common for monster newborns to be able to speak? Were you messing up already? You chance a glance to the bed, wondering if that's where he wanted you. Gaster follows your eye light movement, before smirking. Using his hands to lift you up, he holds you in front of him. Grabbing the tape measure from the sink, he starts to take your measurements.
"Subject has slim, frail bones; not very sturdy. Will need to take a sample to make sure it is not suffering from a calcium deficiency. Subject will also need a calcium bath, as bones are brittle to the touch. Will need to strengthen them with injections and tests."
Gaster starts to touch your arms and legs. You panic and start to struggle, causing the skeleton monster to growl. His hands tighten around your bones, feeling like they might break under his strength. You didn’t like the sound of any of this. You didn't want any of this. A hiss of pain escapes you and you continue to struggle.
"Now, Now. This is hardly worth a fight. I need results. You understand? I am curious to see if your magic is properly circulating through your bones- Subject's motor functions seem to be intact. Will take samples for further analysis."
Gaster then roughly pushes you onto the mattress, his hands moving your hospital gown out of the way easily. He looks your body over, unaware of the sudden look of horror morphing your face. You thought you were panicking before, but now… It was like you couldn’t even think properly. You were naked. He was above you with medical equipment and you’re NAKED! You instantly redouble your struggling and scream. Gaster looks up at the scream, immediately grabbing his recorder to make sure it was on. He looks at you, clearly intrigued.
"Subject can vocalize to some capacity."
He finishes removing your gown and pauses.
"Subject is a female. Explains the bone structure. Proceeding to take samples and vitals."
He uses two of his hands and lifts your arm, turning it this way and that. He continues to make notes and speak, you're struggling doing nothing to distract or stall him. You were crying now. He was manhandling you, hurting you. He didn’t even seem to care that you were nakes and crying. You were at least thankful he wasn't doing anything perverted to you. But that didn’t calm you any. A sob escapes you as you keep trying to pull away to cover yourself.
"Let me go- Let go of me!"
Gaster stops his examination of your bones at the pleading. But not for the reason you hoped.
"So, You Can Speak fluently. Interesting... Well, that makes this so much easier. You will stop resisting me. I will do my job with or without your cooperation. Now, STOP RESISTING."
Gaster slams you against the bed again. He uses another set of hands to prime a needle, a clear liquid filling the chamber. His hands wrap around each of your limbs as he brings the needle closer to you. You couldn’t move at all, despite your best effort. You scream again and beg, but he pays you no mind as he slides the needle into your bone. He presses the release at the top and watches as you become subdued in your now drugged state. You were still panicking and trying to pull away. Stars knows what he just put into you.
"There. Now That You've Calmed Down. I can continue~"
And it was like hitting a wall. Everything felt heavy and blurry, your mind and vision growing fuzzy. Your voice slurred as you slowly stopped being able to control your own body. It was worse than any head cold you ever had in your human life.
"No- Please-"
The last thing you saw before passing out was Gaster leaning over you. A sick smile spread across his face.
“How very… Very interesting…”
