Work Text:

Percy was used to having nightmares, most times it would be Tartarus, sometimes it was about the seven and the camps, rarely it was about the second titanomachy, but never had it been just complete blank darkness, that was until tonight.

He swam mindlessly against the dark currents, he could barely see anything pass his arms, there was no light to lead the way but he knew where he was going.

He eventually reached his goal, he stopped, crouched down, and felt his fingers on a fallen marble column, he could feel the scratches and chips from the stone's old age as he ran his fingers along it.

Percy willed himself to see through the darkness, his curiosity begging to find out what structure he'd found in the depths of his dream world.

He stood waiting quietly for his vision to return and was greeted with an expected sight. It was a temple, a broken and rundown one, but a temple nonetheless.

The marble pillars of the structure were crumbling, the fallen column he felt was one of the few that had already collapse, the roof above it had also fallen off.

Percy entered the temple and saw the statue of the temple, it's face was removed, not decapitated but featureless. He could feel an unusual emptiness that would have usually been filled with the overwhelming presence of a god, maybe an old, dead god's temple then?

Percy continued to look around, any decorations seemed to have been burned, fauna grew in between the cracks of the floor, the smaller stone story panels also had the featureless god, infact all the art depicted him as featureless.

He swam to the offering table, ignoring the statue and the empty presence of any being, and went to touch the stone before he was awoken again.
