Once More, With Feeling

Summary:

When one makes a wish with the Cat and Ladybug Miraculous, it comes with consequences. A way to preserve the balance if you will. Too bad no one seem to have read the fine print.

Marinette found herself in a world vastly different yet similar. She lacks an awful lot of the Miraculous and her allies are much more inexperienced than her enemies. That doesn't stop her from waging war against Gabriel and his side.

Felix found himself lost not only his Miraculous but even his own identity. No longer Adrien and not quite Chat Noir, Felix has to figure out how to take down his own father while avoiding dragging his twin into the mess. Good thing he has his Lady for help.

Who said Karma has to be done by the Universe themselves when there are two perfectly capable people to do it for them? After all, Tikki's bugs could be quite calculating and Plagg's kittens thrives in chaos.

Chapter Text

"You lost."

Those two words shook her, the feeling of powerlessness overwhelming at that very moment. She watched in horror as Lila leaned in and took her earrings before throwing her haphazardly to the ground.

"Don't worry. It will all be over soon." Behind her enemy was Alya. Her former friend stands next to her own enemy, a comforting smile on her face. How Marinette wished she could yell at Alya for betraying her, for betraying Chat, and for dooming Paris. Instead she finds herself unable to even utter a sound.

Marinette watched helplessly as the traitor and Lila left, taking both Tikki and Plagg. No she wants to say come back.

She had failed. She had horribly failed. She had failed to the point that she is now lying on the ground, unable to move and slowly losing consciousness.

Tikki is gone.

Plagg is gone.

Chat is gone.

Chat, her dear partner. Her cheeks become wet, the unshed tears finally appearing. Her poor kitty, betrayed by his own father. No, the man does not deserve to be called a father. Not after everything he had done, after what he did to Chat .

A choke sob escaped her lips. She watches helplessly as the sky turns an ominous color, as she feels the world shifting, changing into a different reality.

Please she begs despite being unable to say anything even if I don't have those miraculous back, I don't want Chat and I to be pawns again.

Her sight slowly blurs as a strange white light shone brightly from nowhere, most likely due to the world changing.

Please Tikki.

Ever since he was little, he has always had this strange feeling every time he sees his reflection. The feeling seems to tell him something was off.

The feeling shows up on small things too.

The disgust, anger and hatred he had on his father despite at a young age. The way he would be unable to eat cheese without throwing up, as if it is wrong to eat it himself. The way he would stare at every black cat he sees, the urge to cry almost overwhelming him.

Everything is wrong, especially his family.

So he shut himself away.

He busied himself with books, magic tricks, and chess. He excused himself as much as possible from bonding with his family or Nathalie for that matter. At the age of ten, he did not hesitate to leave for boarding school and go home as little as possible.

The feeling never faded.

Instead it intensified when, one day, he bought an odd watch in an antique store in London. The feeling practically screamed at him to take it.

Fluff feels wrong and right.

He feels as if he should know Fluff, but feels as if he shouldn't have Fluff. He had asked the Kwami about it, about the strange feelings he had about certain things.

"You'll know when you'll know." Was all Fluff said. Of course he knows better than to push the literal concept of time for answers, especially with her confirming he would get those answers in the future.

Perhaps, however, he should have asked how he would receive those answers.

The dreams had not been too bad. He had thought it comes with Fluff's power over time influencing him into seeing alternate timelines in his sleep. Then he woke up in the dead of the night in complete pain from regaining his memories, Fluff on his side giving him a large knowing smile.

Hindsight, Felix realized, is a bitch.

The dreams started when Marinette turned thirteen.

She had glimpses of herself in a ladybug-themed hero outfit. She would dream of a blonde cat-themed boy telling her cat puns. She would dream of butterflies and feathers. She dreamed of the gods, Kwamis, giving her and her partner powers.

She had figured they were all dreams.

She could not see what Chat, the boy in her dream, looks like. Every other faces in her dreams besides the villains were blurred, indistinguishable to her at all.

After all, Gabriel Agreste could not be moonlighting as some butterfly villain right?

And then she saw Alya Césaire.

She had the strongest urge to throw up when she saw her. Everything in Marinette is screaming at her to stay away , that she would hurt her. So Marinette avoided Alya everywhere after that, thankful that the other girl's busy life distracts her from attempting to befriend Marinette after the fourth failed attempt.

It was not until Marinette turned fifteen when she found the Kwamis. Her late aunt Bridgette's will left her the jewelry box, one that was passed down from one Cheng daughter to another. Her aunt and mother had been close, with Marinette being named her goddaughter, so it was not surprising to inherit the box.

Three days after receiving the Kwamis, who refused to tell her what those dreams meant, she remembered everything.
