Work Text:

Dark... Why is it so dark? ... Wait a minute. It's nighttime. I was on a sleepover with my friends. They're probably all asleep, and if I go back there, I'll wake them up... It's better not to do that. I wouldn’t like to be awakened in the middle of the night.

I'm cold ... But it's warm after all. Chills run down my spine. I don't know why. I'm afraid of the dark. I'm afraid of... something more. I'd rather not think about it, because I'll remember....
I'd better go home. After all, I know the way there. Someone told me this before, but I don't know who. It can't be far.

All in all, walking at night is pleasant. Too bad I'm alone. The full moon shines so nicely... Even if the lamps were out, I could probably still see the road. If only I could walk like this together with Aubrey... She would probably laugh at me if I told her about this. After all, it's almost like a date. I would never ask her out on a date in my life. It would be terribly embarrassing... But... I think she likes me. After all, for some reason she reconciled with all of us. I don't even remember why she was so upset. It probably wasn't anything that serious. I'm sleepy, that's why I don't remember.

Aubrey is cute. I like her pink hair.

I don't even know what to think about. My head is empty.

I thought the way home would be shorter... Where did I even come out from...? It couldn't have been Kel and Hero's house, or Aubrey's. Sleeping under the same roof with her mom would be awful. ... I feel sorry for her. As soon as we are together, she will move to my place.

Whose house was that?

My legs are hurting. I've had enough. I just want to sleep. But... I will be moving out tomorrow. I don't want to move. I have friends. Everything has changed for the better. But I won't be able to explain it to my mother. Yes, sure, it's for my own good, I know. Maybe it used to be for my own good, but now I will literally lose all the friends I've ever had.
Mom won’t let me stay.
I don't want to go to sleep, much less wake up. I just don't want to wake up.

I don’t want to cry right now.

Hero said my life would change for the better. I think I should trust him.

...

I feel like that's not going to happen.

Whose house was this?

Why do I still think about it?

I want to stop thinking, but I can't. There is not even anything interesting around. This road is getting so terribly long....

I have to take Kel's phone number from him. And from Aubrey, necessarily. Maybe tomorrow morning I will have a chance to see them again. I hope they won't be angry with me for leaving them in the middle of the night.

I don't think I've ever seen Kel crying...
Why do I wonder about that?

The lights are out in their house. Even Hector is not in the yard. He probably hid in the doghouse or is sleeping in the house. I will miss him. He's adorable.

I will miss everyone.

I’m going to be alone. Even Mewo won’t be there. Poor kitty. She didn't deserve this. Oh gosh, I think I'm going to cry again.

I've had enough.

It's kind of funny.

I hope I didn't lock the door. Why would I lock the door? After all, I would come back here after tonight's sleepover. My memory has worsened by a thousand percent... Oh, they are open. That’s good.

Stairs.

There are those chills again. My brain still wants to remember something, but can't. I'm really tired.

But before I go to bed, I'll go into the bathroom.

...

There is nothing in the mirror.

Whose house was this?

Oh, I remember! After all, there lived such a nice old lady and her caregiver, Polly. Yesterday she went to the hospital (from what I remember) and Hero came up with the idea to comfort… well, someone I- I guess Polly, so we stayed there overnight ....
Hero always knows what to do. I wish I could be like him.

My bed is the best... I would like to sleep in it forever.

...
...
...
Why can't I fall asleep? There was so much going on today... I just need to sort out some things in my head. Well, and stress before the move could also be the reason why.

Everything is going to be okay.

...

Through the open window, the milky white glow of the full moon enters the room. It's shining exceptionally bright today, as if it wants to illuminate a small figure huddled in the corner of the bedroom. It doesn't move, but at the same time it is in constant motion, its closed eyes gazing at its surroundings with dozens of ever-open, watchful eyes that persistently wait for the one they are waiting for to appear.
And eventually he walks in, the irritating stench of blood hits his nose, and the sight of Basil's bloody body sticks in his brain so hard that he forgets about it.

But he'll remember it as soon as the time is right.

(time will never be right, but he has to remember eventually)

Everything is going to be okay.
