Gon blames it on the adrenaline.
Hisoka walks forward, heels clicking against the concrete floor of the arena as Gon readies himself to fight — clenched fists and a guarded stance. The crowd goes wild as Hisoka steps closer to deal more damage.
‘Is this the finishing blow?’ Gon thinks, risking a quick glance down at his right hand as it throbs painfully. He’ll have to walk around like a loser with a cast on for the next-
“My, you seem awfully busy.”
Gon gasps, stumbling backwards onto the cold concrete.
“H-How’d you sneak up on me?!”
Hisoka grins, crouching down to be eye level with Gon.
“Of course, a magician never reveals his secrets. But for you, I just might~”
Gon furrows his brows for a moment, thinking. Does he need to know how Hisoka snuck up on him like that?
“What do you want from me?”
Yes, he does.
Hisoka laughs, amusement visible in his eyes.
“Why don’t we make a pinky promise, sealed with a kiss, hm?”
Gon nods, ignoring the agitated mutterings of the crowd, the referees nervously pacing around the rink.
“I’ve done that plenty of times before on Whale Island.” Gon says, agreeable; sticks his hand out, pinky finger extended.
“Oh, but this is a grownup kiss,” Hisoka purrs, and Gon’s heartbeat spikes as Hisoka leans in, linking his pinky finger with Gon’s.
The crowd goes silent, Hisoka’s lips taste like blood, dirt, dust and smudged lipstick all over and Gon thinks that he might be in love.
“Two- Two minutes!” A referee calls out, stumbling over his words. Gon presses harder into the kiss, opening his mouth slightly, and he hears Hisoka let out a soft hum of curiosity before their tongues meet.
Two minutes is more than enough time to make out on a battlefield.
