Chapter Text
First thing he saw when he woke up was the sun peeking from the tiny window.
‘I need to prepare breakfast.’ He thought. Luffy would come kicking the door any minute if the sun was already up and the food wasn’t ready. He tried to get up, only to find out he couldn’t. It felt like he had bruises all over his body. The last fight he had must have been a though one, he realized.
He turned his head to his body to find it fully bandaged. There were casts on both of his legs even if he didn’t need them. He wondered why Chopper hadn’t taken them off. Was it because the little doctor didn’t want him to get up just yet? Maybe he needed a longer rest. But who was going to cook the food if he was here? Maybe Nami-san would do it just like the last time he wasn’t able to cook for them. Such a relief it was really, having such capable and amazing crewmmbers like her cover his duties when he couldn’t. Even if he was probably going to pay a few thousand berries afterwards, it was nice. He fell asleep again then, no longer worrying about his hungry captain.
Second time he came to consciousness he was aware enough of his surroundings to notice that he wasn’t in the Sunny. The gentle swaying of the waves indicated that he was still in a ship but a completely strange one. He didn’t sense anyone hostile around, so it might be that he was in one of their allies' ships that came to help them. Was Sunny hurt so badly that they had to stay in someone else’s ship? And he couldn’t find his crew with his haki, where were they? Maybe they went to explore? Or to go shopping. But why would they leave him alone? He looked around for a note, something, anything. He found a certain straw hat sitting on top of the drawer next to his bed.
Relaxing a bit, he tried to stand up only to notice the casts on his legs were still there. When looked closer he saw they weren’t Chopper’s work. It also explained why they were still on. This stranger probably didn’t know he didn’t need casts this long for his broken bones to heal. He probably could get them off of himself but it would spend the little amount of energy he saved up and help nothing. It was best he waited for someone then. They could explain what was going on. If his crew needed help he would be at least rested enough to do something.
He tried to look around for someone he knew with his haki but couldn’t find anyone. Since he was so tired it was hard for him to expand his observation haki out of this ship and scan around. His eyelids were getting heavier any passing second and as he felt the cheerful mood of the people around, he relaxed enough to fall asleep one more time.
