Chapter Text
Something crashed into Cybertron’s surface, lighting the whole planet up in a violet glow. None of them had yet witnessed it, though, as they were just now waking up from what was essentially a five million stellar cycle long coma. Of course, none of the Combaticons would have used coma as the right word to describe being detached from their bodies.
Unaware of the chaos going on just outside, Onslaught looked to the rest of his teammates as they worked on booting up their systems. Once he was sure all of them were alright, he moved to look out at the planet’s surface. It was certainly a sight to behold, witnessing the dead of Cybertron walking once again and heading to a nearby spacebridge. Just what did they miss for Cybertron’s main populace to be walking offline Autobots and Decepticons? Something was certainly amiss and he was going to have to not only come up with a plan to get them to wherever that spacebridge’s final location was, but also get his team to actually follow the plan, something they didn’t exactly do often.
Blast Off was, thankfully, the next of them up. He was likely able to tell the final destination coordinates of the spacebridge, even from a distance. How lucky he was to have the shuttle on his team.
“Blast Off? Are all your systems back online?” Onslaught asked. He was concerned for Blast Off, but those questions could wait a moment longer. “I need you to scan that spacebridge portal and see where it leads to. There’s most likely living bots just beyond it.”
“I… Yes,” Blast Off simply stated, walking over next to Onslaught, quiet about the throbbing in his helm as he scanned the portal. “It’s a spacebridge just outside sector 13, subsection 3… But what I don’t understand is the importance of living bots just beyond it.”
“Unfortunately, it would appear as if there were either a mass exodus off planet or, as I fear, those walking towards it are the majority of what was left of the populations as we were placed into the detention center.”
“So, if there aren’t other bots just beyond the portal, we may be the last ones left? And all just because Megatron didn’t trust us not to betray him again after our lengthy punishment which has lasted… how long?”
“I’m not so sure of how long we’ve been dealing with Megatron’s greatest form of punishment, but I do know one thing: the Autobots share an enemy with us now,” Onslaught mentioned, his optics narrowing just behind his visor.
“You’re not suggesting we join them, are you?” Vortex spat out, though, his vocalizer not yet fully booted up, lacing his words with static.
“It may be within our interests to join for a period of time until Megatron has been vanquished. After that, there is nothing suggesting we cannot turn against them. There is only one, unfortunate, rule: we must obey their rules until they no longer benefit us.”
Onslaught wasn’t sure just how cooperative their combined form would be with the Autobots, but he didn’t have long to think about such consequences as the spacebridge portal sent through quite a large blast, destroying the walking corpses that had gotten close to it. As long as they could find a spacebridge and some energon on the planet, they’d be able to get to where those dead were headed. Onslaught was sure of it.
