Chapter 1: Nothing will be the same again

Notes:

I can't tell you what was wrong with me when I wrote THIS, almost 3 years ago, but I found it in the darkest recesses of my files, so yeah.... I think I can make something useful out of this.... All you have to do is ignore this very incoherent, illogical and just really fucked up intro.... You know, I have to keep some substitute for the original storyline (besides, I'm so in love with ship Sily, so I have to leave James dead).
It will get better, I promise. <3

Chapter Text

Monday, the worst day of the week, as they say.

Breakfast is currently underway in the Great Hall at Hogwarts. Students as well as guardians are immersed in their own conversations.

Sixteen-year-old James Potter is snickering behind Lily, "Will you date me Evans!" to which the aforementioned girl snorts and turns her head away.

Sirius and Peter make fun of Severus, while Remus looks at them and gulps down chocolate.

At the Slide table, Narcissa Black is chatting calmly (as much as possible) with her recalcitrant sister Bellatrix, who is earnestly urging her to join the ranks of the Deathly Hallows.

A morning like any other - one would think.

Teachers sit at their table and are busy eating, others chatting about the subjects they teach.

Professor Dumbledore smiles good-naturedly and nods his head at Minerva's words.

He gives the impression that he is listening to her, but his thoughts are occupied by something completely different, a strange premonition that he can't quite name himself.

He reaches into the pocket of his robe and takes out a small, old mirror. He looks into it, but instead of his reflection he sees the young blonde woman he knows well, as usual.

This one, however, instead of smiling cheerfully as always, has a worried look on her face, which does not bode well.

I would rather say it bodes something bad but I'm not Trelawney after all, eh?

Unfortunately, the director doesn't seem to notice, as he hurriedly puts the mysterious artifact back in his pocket.

At the same moment, a large black owl flies through one of the windows and drops a giant package on the table in front of Dumbledore.

The girl in the mirror momentarily disappears, as if she is hiding from something, but the professor cannot notice the strange behavior of this magical object.

All eyes in the room are now on the mysterious package.

The director wrinkles his eyebrows and gently in silence begins to open the package. He opens the lid and....

BOOM

Out of the package pops Voldemort in the flesh.

-Avada Kedavra! - he shouts before anyone has time to realize what is happening.

A shocked Albus is thrown backwards with a bang. He is dead.

The mirror falls out of his pocket, flies against the wall and shatters into a million pieces.

There is now a grave silence in the Great Hall. No one is aware of what has just happened.

After a while, the freshmen start squealing and crying. The older students and teachers are too shocked to panic.

-Avada Kedavra! - more screams resound.

Out of nowhere, Death Eaters suddenly appear.

Defenseless children fall to the ground lifeless.

To Professor McGonagall it is just beginning to reach what is happening.

With trembling hands, she reaches for her wand, but doesn't manage to use it because the green flame of the murderous spell hits her right in the chest and the woman slumps to the floor.

Sirius, James and Remus pull out their wands, as if awakened from a strange trance, and start a duel with the noseless tyrant and his servants.

Several older students do the same. A fierce battle ensues.

Lily Evans is terrified, but as a prefect she keeps her cool and takes the opportunity to unnoticed lead the younger students to safety.

Hell is cooking in the Great Hall, innocent people are dying.

Some alumni of the Salazar house fight on the side of the snake-headed bastard.

Now Sirius is dueling with his chopped-up cousin, who after a while falls from the chybilical blow of Voldemort himself.

However, the latter doesn't care that he has just killed his most faithful helper and fights on with the same fierceness.

A shaken Evans enters the scene of the battle again and sees Black dueling with Peter.

-You scoundrel! We trusted you, we were your friends! - he shouts while throwing spells at the rotter. His eyes express great fury, the girl has never seen him so furious.

-Evidently you are too stupid to notice anything! - replies Pettigreew, sending deadly curses in the brunet's direction, and a moment later he himself lies dead on the floor.

Sirius looks confused in the direction from which the spell came.

-Lily! - exclaims in considerable shock, looking at the girl whose wand is pointed at the body of their, now former, friend.

Suddenly a loud bang reaches their ears, the floor shakes and most of the people present in the room lose their balance falling to the ground.

In an instant everything goes silent. There is a lot of dust in the air, dead bodies of students and teachers lie scattered all over the room.

The redhead notices something that literally takes her voice away.

Voldemort lies dead, and right next to him Evans notices Remus.

With tears in her eyes, the girl walks up to her friend and looks into his empty eyes.

She looks around the room, wanting to find Sirius with her eyes, but what she notices breaks her heart even more.

Against the wall lies James Potter, with blood pouring hissily from his side.

Then the cruel truth comes to Lily.

It was from James' spell that everything shook.

It was from his spell that Voldemort died.

Unfortunately, it was so strong that it also hit the boy himself.

Without hesitation, the girl throws herself at him and, without hiding her tears, pulls his long hair away from his forehead.

The boy opens his eyes for a moment, looks at her with concern and whispers:

-I love you Evans, you know?

After these words, a slight hunched smile, so characteristic of him, blooms on his face.

Later, his eyes close and his head falls to the side.

On the other hand, from Lily's eyes, tears are now flowing uncontrollably.

Her attention is suddenly caught by something very strange - next to the boy's body lies a piece of mirror.

The girl wipes her tears with her sleeve, reaches for the object and looks straight into the smiling face of James, who is waving at her from behind the surface of the mirror, accompanied by a young blonde.

Tears begin to flow from Evans' eyes again as she presses the mirror firmly to her heart.

-I love you too, Potter,‖ she sobs through her tears.

He doesn't even know when Sirius approaches and she cries into his blood-stained shirt.

He himself doesn't hide his tears either. He embraces the red-haired girl and together they give vent to their emotions.

Voldemort died, but everyone knew that nothing will be the same again....
