spoiled

Summary:

Jason has always thought of Tim Drake as a spoiled, stuck-up rich boy who thinks he's too good for anyone else. The kid never talks to anyone, after all.

In hindsight, he should've known that wasn't it.

Notes:

Hi! I have not posted a fic in a very long time, so forgive the shitty tagging and stuff. I have a synonymous Tumblr now tho!!!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Jason had a lot of opinions.

For example: Jane Austen was among the greatest authors of all time, being Robin was the single coolest thing ever, and Timothy Jackson Drake was a spoiled, stuck-up rich boy.

Jason held a bone-deep hatred for Timothy Drake. The kid never looked at anyone aside from the ones his parents spoke to and his parents themselves. He stayed silent and irritatingly aloof at every gala.

Even at school, at Gotham Academy, Timothy Drake said nothing. He didn't participate in classes. When there were presentations to be done, Timothy would suddenly be absent for a week and all of a sudden he would have no presentation to be done.

It frustrated Jason to no end. How spoiled did someone have to be to consider everyone else too lowly to speak to?

Now, Jason was getting a little mad. Because Timothy Drake never did projects.

So why the fuck was Jason being forced to do a group project with the guy?

Timothy said nothing when they were assigned to each other. Jason gritted his teeth and kept his mouth shut. No teacher would listen to Street-Rat Jason Todd, after all.

Why wasn't Timothy getting himself out of this one? Did he plan on screwing Jason over, or making Jason do the entire project, or something?

Timothy trudged over to Jason's desk as the teacher ordered everyone to partner up and get to work.

"Hi," Jason greeted, voice neutral despite the venom curling in his throat.

Timothy seemed startled, as his eyes widened slightly.

He opened and closed his mouth, and then nodded and drooped into the seat beside Jason.

Christ. The guy couldn't even talk to Jason.

Timothy Drake was not Jason's age. He was two years younger, only ten. But he was also extremely smart, so he was two grades ahead. Jason was not one to be envious of intelligence, but seriously, he couldn't believe that. Timothy's parents must've bought out the school.

"So, what event would you like to do the project on?" Jason asked the question. He wanted to get Timothy of his damn high horse and say something, damn it.

There was a brief moment where Timothy looked over the list titled Events in Gotham History. He tilted his head contemplatively. Jason considered smacking his head upright.

After a moment, he set his finger down on an event. The First Appearance of Robin.

Jason thought about it. He wouldn't necessarily mind doing a project on Dick, he supposed.

"Sure," he agreed. Timothy's shoulders relaxed minutely.

They exchanged contact information. Timothy booked it out of there as soon as class was over.

Jason stared down at his phone.

Was Timothy...scared of him?
