Like recognizes Like
“I wanted to apologize about Pronto making a scene earlier,” Eli Shane said having come in just before closing. “He just ran into an old flame and had to keep telling us all about his great romance complete with acting it out.”
“Not that big a deal it was kind of funny,” he said glancing back. “Do you think any of that epic romance stuff was true or was he just being Pronto?” The Shane gang had eaten enough in his restaurant for him to have a pretty good idea about their personalities and the molenoid’s flare for the dramatic and exaggeration were pretty clear.
“I don’t know, She was just as over the top as he was about their reunion so there’s probably some history there,” Eli said with a laugh, “But then again in addition to being just as dramatic she was also about a half head taller than him and twice as big only with muscles instead of flab.” Eli then smirked, “Of course she didn’t seem to remember it the same way she seemed more angry than happy to see him again.”
“Some how that seems appropriate for a great love of Pronto’s,” he said and Eli laughed. “Of course some relationships are just like that they can feel epic to you even when all your doing is grabbing a slice and kicking back and to the other person it could just be boring and worth forgetting.”
“I wouldn’t know; I’m not good with any of that romance stuff,” Eli said looking a bit self conscious and looking at him made him want to comfort him. “Anyway I just wanted to apologize for the mess with Pronto so I’ll get out of your hair.”
“I don’t mind the company Eli,” He said and saw the younger man look away. “And don’t worry about not having much experience with romance, you’ll probably have a couple of them being a dashing Shane and all, you’ll be beating the damsel’s off with a stick.” He saw Eli look even more uncomfortable, “The fellows too if that’s where your taste lies.” He had pegged Eli as one of them early on but hadn’t had a reason to bring it up until now.
“How’d you know?” Eli asked a bit shocked, “I mean I don’t advertise it but it’s something I worry about since as a Shane I’m expected to keep the family line going.” That was the problem with family lineage crap he’d made quite a rep for the name Bravado but he’d never expect a kid of his if by some fluke he ever had one to carry it on.
“With more experience you’ll find like recognizes like,” he said and then after a moment, “I’ve even thought about asking you out a few times but I could tell how inexperienced you are and didn’t want to freak you out.”
“You would have,” Eli said with a weak laugh though his slug Burpy was currently giving him a look that clearly said be careful Bravado or you’ll regret it. “I wouldn’t be opposed to it but we’d have to take things slow really slow and I’m not ready to tell the rest of the gang yet.”
“That’s fine,” he said keeping an eye on the slug giving him a look that said say the wrong thing and I’ll burn your restaurant to the ground. “We’ll take thing slow and keep things quiet as long as you need to.” The slug nodded it’s head in approval so he decided to go ahead and ask, “So can I kiss you?” He would normal go for the romantic surprise but he had a feeling Eli had never even be kissed so definitely a time to ask first.
“Sure I’d like that but I’m probably not any good at it,” Eli said a far cry from how confident he was at everything else he tended to try. He moved quickly and put his hand on the younger man’s face to calm him down before he quickly and tenderly kissed him pleased that Eli kissed back quiet enthusiastically.
“It’s just like anything else Kid, it takes practice but just like with trick shots I have a feeling your a natural at it,” He said once they finally broke apart. “That wasn’t bad for your first time,” he said enjoying the smile that appeared on Eli’s face. He glanced at the door that still had the open sign on it. “Let me finish closing up and we can get some practice in if you want.” He noticed the slug glaring at him. “Of course nothing more than kissing for now.” He was definitely going to have to win that slug over before things got too hot and heavy or he would most likely regret it.
The End
