NEW ARC COMING SOON

Chapter 1: Sayako (almost) gets Electrocuted

Chapter Text

Sayako Hisakawa hates dust.

Wood dust, silica dust, and sandstone created a layer of transparent smoke tickling one's nose thus causing them to let out an explosion of a sneeze, allowing the enemy to spot their hiding place.

She scoffed. How troublesome...

You would think a vigilante of seven years wouldn't be bothered by such a minor inconvenience. However, after her quirk awakening, Sayako found herself being annoyed by the smallest of sounds to the moderate scents.

The place of interest for today is an abandoned building that looked more uninhibited on the inside.

CRUNCH!

Tiny remains of concrete crushed against the ground as she walked down the dimmed hall. Entrances on either side lead to more empty spaces in a similar empty depressing manner with some wooden planks and scaffolding.

All clear.

She reached the end of the hall and made a quick glance before pulling out a hand-held transceiver.

"Yaoyorozu, I'm in position, what's the-" The device got zapped to the ground as golden sparks tingled on her hand.

Dodging another attack she launched her premade ice chains in his direction. Her blonde opponent swerved around it and jumped inside a room.

I'll be electrocuted if it turns back to water...

In order to freeze him, she would have to use water but it reacts badly against someone with an electric quirk. So she followed him inside. Her senses alerted her, giving her ample time to block another attack with a wooden plank.

She flung her chains and he dodged, but his sloppy movements allowed his foot to get captured into the chains. Before she could drag him, he blasted another electrical zap in return, a tingling met with her cheek and she made a 360 turn landing a blow against his stomach with her foot.

She let go at that time and he slammed violently against a pillar earning a pained groan as he held his shoulder. In response, she blasted water to freeze him. Steam rose through her midnight black clothes on her back as his body remained stuck to the wall.

He grunted, "Can't I at least take you for dinner?"

She flashed a smile. "Sorry. I don't go out with blondes."

BOOM!

A loud sound echoed on the floor above them leaving a hole in the ceiling. She turned the chain to a zipline and attached it to the ceiling on the upper floor then launched herself upwards.

Midair, she an aerial view of the scene. She spotted the other opponent Jiro, on the ground under some debris with Momo in front of a large speaker. Earlier, Sayako had frozen the headphone quirk user's ears to avoid her hearing their movements.

With her distracted and her partner out of the way, Yaoyarozou had created the loudspeaker to stun her keeping her in place until the timer stopped.

Sayako landed in front of her. "Everything went well here."

"Yes, we have succeeded."

With that, the Trial ended.

The Battle Trial was a setup where the class of 1- A is split into groups; Heroes vs Villains style. It is also where the class first utilized their hero costumes.

Hers consisted of a black sleeveless jumpsuit with silver at the sides and combat boots with silver cuff bracelets on her arms.

In the world of humans with extraordinary abilities called quirks, there is a heroes and villains system. Heroes save and help people, a symbol of peace. Villains were those who did more harm than good. There is also a Hero who is more known and respected for their actions.

The Number One Hero and the greatest Symbol of Peace known as All Might. He has all the makings of a Hero. Strong, brave, heroic, and always wore a broad smile on his detailed face.

Once the trial had completed, said Hero gathered everyone outside the building to greet and acknowledge the students. His voice was booming as always. "Good Work Everyone!"

"Excellent First Day of Training All Around!" He announced.

He was also a teacher of the Hero course at the prestigious Hero school, UA.

"It's nice to hear some encouraging words from our homeroom class," commented Tsu, "Mr. Aizawa was kinda a buzzkill."

Everyone nodded in agreement. Aizawa Shouta was the class homeroom teacher. To say he was a buzzkill was an understatement but other than his fatigued appearance and mean-spirited reputation he gets his job done.

All Might acknowledge the comment before dismissing the class. "I Should Go And Check On Young Midoriya's Progress. Now Watch As A Pro Hero Exits. LIKE HE'S GOT SOMEWHERE TO BBEE!"

In the blink of an eye, all that was left was a smoke trail down the exit.

Sayako scoffed stuffing her phone in her utility belt. "Well, he seems busy."

_______

As everyone got back in class, the once quiet room was filled with students chattering about the trial and their quirks. Sayako joined the chat, gathering a small group around her.

The conversation started when Jiro confronted her about freezing water in her earphones. Sayako denied it and they were clashing until Jiro noticed her hand band belonging to a famous rock band.

The classroom then grew louder as Midoriya walked in with his arm on a cast rattling Sayako's ears from across the room.

"So noisy," complained Tokoyami. He had made himself comfortable on the desk behind Sayako as he spoke with Ojiro.

"Gotta remember to bring my earplugs next time..." mumbled Sayako.

Iida came sprinting to the group. "TOKOYAMI! Stop using that desk as a chair!"

"HISAKAWA! Wear your jacket properly and not hanging off your shoulders! Your uniform should be worn with pride!"

"Dude you need to chill," said Jiro.

Sayako chained him to the wall before leaving the classroom. Walking down the halls as a hero student didn't feel as different as she had thought when she was in the Management Course.

Despite that, she was again reminded of how spacious it was; lots of floors and glass windows and rooms. She remembered comparing it to her home last year on her first day at UA.

Smaller but the same thing except for the obvious school-related things like classrooms, and loud students.

A gentle wind greeted her as she opened the door."Not to mention my rooftop is a bit bigger."

As she looked out the railings, she took in the view. The combined city noises faded like background noises as she scrolled through her phone for any messages. Her attention went to a picture of her student ID.

Hisakawa Sayako. UA Student. Class of 1- A. Hmm. Doesn't sound too bad.

It felt like yesterday she got transferred to the hero course. Even though she needed to repeat a year, she didn't mind as it was what her mentor had trained her for. Her shoulders slumped as she remembered her mentor wouldn't know if she made it or not.

She had passed away after a fiery battle right before the entrance exam.

Sayako sighed. The conversation from the office that day echoed in her head.

_

"The transfer was accepted?"

"You've improved your abilities since the beginning of the semester," explained Mr. Aizawa. "I believe with this hero course your quirk would be developed even further."

Principal Nezu nodded in agreement. "You're lucky your quirk had an awakening just in time to train for the test this year."

_

"How did UA even know about my quirk awakening...?"

EEEEEAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!

Sayako let out a chuckle at the distant scream from the boys bathroom. "Right on time..."

_______

A heavy spicy aroma of curry filled the air as Sayako opened the front door. She straightened herself at the scent and moved slowly to the kitchen.

"Oh...you're back." A bushy-haired woman hurried down the stairs. She looked at her for a while before continuing. "Ah! Look at what the time is. it's almost 7!"

Startled by the sudden actions, Sayako stepped back a bit. "Yeah about that I-uh..." Got called to the office about using quirks against classmates and also about a spider incident inside the vents of the boys' bathroom.

The slight smile of victory was crushed by two hands as the older woman grabbed her face, eyeing the scar on her cheek. "You've got yourself a bruise. I told you not to get yourself hurt."

With everything that happened in school, she had forgotten about it during the trial. Sayako looked at the woman with a tired but cautious look as she withdrew from her cold touch.

She wasn't like this yesterday...or any day before that...

"It's smaller than the one from the entrance exam, at least." she replied, trotting down the kitchen, "Besides I made a visit to the infirmary before coming home."

"Have you told your brother about your school today? He must be eager to hear about you getting into UA."

"Eh. Don't worry about it." She took a bite of an apple, quickly shifting her focus to the window. He must've called today. "Where did you buy these apples anyway?"

The woman didn't bother changing the topic, only speaking about her son and the meals she had prepared for him. The table was filled with dishes and sides. Curry, rice, vegetables. Sayako took a modest amount, sat down, and ate as the woman continued talking.

Her face glowed throughout the afternoon as if the light was shining on her. All signs of any devastation didn't bother surfacing.

Sayako wished she could take the credit but knew deep down it wasn't her doing despite taking care of her for years. Her brother was in town so their mother had to show a good face for him.

She would never smile for Sayako.

The girl had to admit. It was nice seeing her like this. "It's nice to see you chatting," Sayako said," the curry is good too."

"Do you think he would like it?"

Sayako set down her chopsticks, compelling herself not to let down the woman's spirits again, and gave her a smile.

"He's your son, of course, he will."

_______

Sayako slumped into bed that night; her wet hair dampened the sheets and her muscles were practically sore from the exercise. The moon's glow shed its light on her as she groaned, thinking back on that afternoon's talk.

Who needs that lunatic anyway?

Her phone went off next to her popping her thought bubble. Kenji?

"Hai Sai!"

Sayako smiled at the greeting. Hironori Kenji was her trouble-making partner in crime from the Management course. His quirk was erosion; he could touch the ground and control it like erosion.

As amazing as it sounds he insisted that he go to Management as he didn't care about being a hero.

Despite his involvement with trouble-making schemes, the school still saw him as Hero material cause of his quirk

"Whatcha doing~."

"I am dead." Sayako hung the towel across her back, the cool water easing her heated back.

"Fuunn. Was the trial that bad?"

"Eh. Not too bad. I did start steaming though."

"Ah. You've been using too much frosty dearriiee."

"I had to use ice. The guy was a loose wire." She hung her towel on her desk chair.

"Oh, have you seen your brother on the news yet? He's a riot! Probably the highest rating Pro Hero there is!"

Sayako cringed at the background noise of the interview through the phone. "Nope. I've been busy. School and other stuff." She glared at the files from her part-time job which eyed her from the desk.

"Well whether you decide to make up to the guy or not, I'll be there with you either way. But when you do make up can you get an autograph for me?"

"Sure. I'll get one and then shove it up your-!"

"Alright alright, woman! Spare this lowly commoner."

_______

After they hung up, Kenji hung his head back on the couch. His long fingers went through his blonde hair, his red eyes glinted as he eyed the TV, chuckling at the man on the screen.

"Siblings are fun to play with..."
