Hello everyone! This fanfiction is a missing moments focused on MakoRin, a pairing that I love very much, placed towards the end of episode 12 of the 1st. between the scene of the big hug of the relay victory and the blackboard scene. Here I underline the friendship that binds Makoto and Rin, which is often underestimated. I hope you like it and I wish you a good reading. Let me know what you think, a warm greeting.

Makoto was going down the steps of the great staircase that led to the temple, the same ones that lead to his house and Haru's house, he had received a phone call from Rin where he said he had to talk to him urgently. They had recently leave up, when the sun was starting to set, that had been a special day, because Rin had become their friend again and they had competed together in the prefecture relay, they won and they embraced each other happy for the victory, even if they were eliminated precisely because Rin is a member of the opposing team, but it didn't matter, the real victory for them was having their friend back by their side again, just like when they were kids. It's evening now and there are only the dim lights of the street lamps illuminating the steps of the staircase. There he is sitting on the last step waiting for him…Makoto calls him :
"Rin!"
Rin turns around "Makoto…"
"Rin did something happen?"
" Sorry Makoto for calling you, I know we leave up just now, but I needed to talk to you alone…."
Makoto looks at him with a little apprehension and worried urges him to speak.
"Tell me Rin.."
Rin bending down in an intense bow and with tears already threatening to come out, he begins to speak:
" Here are your words today ... they made me remember what really matters to me in swimming, and do it again with you guys ... it was fantastic and beautiful ... " from the emotion now the tears come really streaming down his cheeks
"...that's because I want to apologize for having behaved like an idiot asshole in this months, I have been with everyone, but especially with you, you didn't deserve it, you have always been kind and considerate with me and with everyone…." at that moment Makoto moved by Rin's words approaches the boy placing his hands on his shoulders in a friendly gesture, Rin continues to talk crying:
" ...I was frustrated and disappointed that after all I had done to achieve my dream, I had only managed to be a failure. I hated myself and when I returned to Japan I had alienated everyone I knew, I had lost sight of my goal's life. I thought that competing against Haru and beating him would make me regain my confidence and resume my dream, but instead it only made me feel worse, making me a real repressed idiot…"
Makoto envelops the other boy in a warm and comfortable embrace saying:
"Rin I'm so sorry for everything you had to suffer, but I'm glad my words brought you back to us…to me, I really missed you."
Rin surprised by the words just heard from the taller boy, look him into his eyes so deep and kind.
Makoto with a gentle gesture of the thumb wipes the tears that still flow from Rin's cheeks:
" I've always admired your determination and I'm sure it's still there inside you, you can still make your dream come true, but from now on you'll never be alone again, you'll never have to face difficulties alone again, us…I.. will be by your side… and this is what friends do, they stand by you especially in the darkest moments."
Now it is Rin who embraces Makoto moved and happy to have found his old childhood friend ready to take care of him again.
