Work Text:
The week had passed, and it was currently a pleasant Saturday where certain three people had more free time due to the flexibility of their schedules as the weekend began.
However, as strange as it was, they were caught with a bit of a surprise. And it wasn't a pretty one.
It happened during breakfast prepared by Yoo Joonghyuk, while Kim Dokja was reading one of his web novels on his cell phone and Han Sooyoung was finishing organizing some documents to be delivered next week.
"Kim Dokja, please drink your coffee before it gets cold, you can read later, we talked about this" Joonghyuk mentioned, giving a threatening look to the aforementioned, finally taking a seat and taking off his apron to put it aside.
"Aren't you going to say anything to Sooyoung? She didn't even touch her cup since you gave it to her-" he rushed to complain, pointing at the woman next to him.
Han Sooyoung seemed to be immersed in unfinished work, as she did not turn to look at them or respond to Kim Dokja's tease, simply letting out a sound of frustration as she reviewed a portion of the manuscript. It wasn't until after a few minutes that Sooyoung noticed the awkward silence that flooded the room. When she lifted her head from her papers, she noticed that both Joonghyuk and Dokja were looking at her with expressions of confusion, and a hint of concern. It was unusual for her to be so isolated from her surroundings.
"Sorry, I've been so stressed this week" she mentioned, putting her manuscript aside to focus on eating breakfast alongside the two men, seeking to avoid any questions.
Kim Dokja was about to speak, but was stopped by Yoo Joonghyuk who rushed to do so first.
"Sooyoung, that means you won't be able to watch the movie with us today, is that right?" inquired Joonghyuk, trying to use a soft tone so as not to pressure the woman in the process.
Han Sooyoung sighed, taking a sip from her coffee cup before she could answer.
"No, I'm sorry, I only have until today to finish this job" she sentenced, the sadness in her voice being visible for losing the opportunity to share with that pair of fools she totally loved.
They didn't touch that subject again for the rest of the morning, reaching a silent agreement among the three of them to prevent any low spirits. The rest of the day passed rather quietly, Sooyoung continued to focus on her work while Joonghyuk planned something with Dokja that the writer was unaware of. She thought they were just planning to do a different activity now that she wouldn't be able to join them, and let it go.
She was partly not wrong, but it was a new surprise.
The next day, Han Sooyoung left the shared home early to head to the office, delivering the manuscript with certain arrangements already made beforehand, and attending to any questions or suggestions that her agent was to discuss with her in the process.
She had brought her breakfast to eat at the office, of course, and for lunch she would simply buy something at a nearby store or use a delivery service.
Naturally, she spent several hours at the site to solve other problems that were to arise and wait for approval of her work, so when she returned home she was assaulted by a wave of incredible fatigue.
The woman announced her arrival to the two men, entering her own room to lie down on the mattress, completely defeated.
A 'knock knock' made her react, getting up to answer the door, thinking it would simply be one of the guys wanting to make sure everything was in order, but instead she found both of them.
Yoo Joonghyuk was carrying some bags, while Kim Dokja was bringing two pillows and a rather large blanket, both smiling with a certain trace of fondness on their faces.
"Can we come in?" asked Dokja, waiting for an answer with some restrained excitement while Joonghyuk looked like a puppy waiting for his owner to let him into the house.
Han Sooyoung couldn't refuse her boyfriends pass like this, ugh.
"Well, yes you can, come in" she agreed, letting out a short laugh in the process, stepping aside to allow them the path to the bed, closing the door behind them once they were inside.
Kim Dokja was the first to climb onto the mattress, settling himself on the side and patting his side so that Sooyoung would take the hint, Joonghyuk, on the other hand, set about opening the bags on one edge of the bed to reveal the contents: they were various packages of both salty and sweet snacks, some candy, chocolates, there were even some lemon lollipops that Han Sooyoung used to buy.
Sooyoung sighed, taking her space then, on the bed, next to Kim Dokja, and only then did Yoo Joonghyuk settle into the remaining spot. Sooyoung had been left in the middle of both men, with the blanket covering them comfortably and the incredible amount of snacks at their disposal. Dokja took the control of the TV and began to search for some movie they could watch together.
"You didn't have to do this, did you know that?" the shorter one complained, though in reality she was already getting comfortable, appreciating the warmth emanating from the others' bodies and taking one of the salty snack packets to open one.
"We know, but we wanted to" replied Dokja, who had already put a movie on play to finally relax, wrapping an arm around the woman's waist to generate a more pleasant situation, looking at her with that usual smile on his face.
Yoo Joonghyuk nodded, moving closer to Han Sooyoung to rest his head on top of the woman's, also hugging her with one arm.
"You looked like you were having a bad week" the taller one blurted out, assuring Dokja's words.
"Yeah, we decided it wouldn't hurt to give you a break, we don't have much to do today anyway, do we?"
Han Sooyoung had no words to express how loved she felt at this moment, but she also didn't want to be so emotional all of a sudden, so she simply accepted the gift.
The rest of the afternoon, the couple of three spent watching various movies, eating whatever they bought and sharing that precious moment together.
When night fell, it was already close to the time for Yoo Joonghyuk to prepare dinner, so they were about to pack up all the things in order to clean up a bit before continuing their activities.
Before that happened, Sooyoung took each of the men by the arm, very gently. They lay on the bed for a moment longer, until the woman finally spoke.
"Thank you for doing this for me, I really feel so much better now" she breathed sincerely, approaching each one to deposit a kiss on the lips, quite fleeting, but enough for Kim Dokja to smile broadly and Yoo Joonghyuk to feel his heart inevitably racing.
"It's a relief, you know you can always count on us, Sooyoung" commented Dokja, catching the shorter one in a tighter embrace, wanting to provide reassurance. "You're very capable of doing what you set your mind to, but it doesn't hurt to have us on hand to help you, at least sometimes. ."
Joonghyuk joined the hug, but resting a hand on each other's back, sighing, and then said "We're here for you, that's what our relationship is all about, we love you."
The closeness, that cozy grip, Han Sooyoung could feel like she would die in that moment. There was nothing else she could wish for. That was her place, next to that pair of fools who cared about her and vice versa. That place, which she could call a home. She wouldn't trade them for anything or anyone.
"I love you too, thank you for being here."
'Thank you for being with me, and for existing.'
That night they all slept in the same bed after eating dinner, unconcerned about tomorrow.
