Work Text:
Sam watches Natasha spread herself over Bucky's broad thighs. She plants herself erotically in the center of his lap letting her hands float above his chest, she cups his jaw. Her movements are slow, calculated, deliberate. She tilts his chin up, tipping his head back. Bucky stares up at her, his mouth dropping every so slightly until finally, their lips meld easily in a seamless and filthy cadence.
And dammit. They look good, they look hot, Sam fumes. He can't take his eyes off them. He wants that. Wants to straddle those muscular thighs, wrap his own legs around the dips of Bucky's waist and just squeeze. Bucky's mouth would part for him too and Sam'd place his thumb over the softness of Bucky's lower lip and drag that ridiculous mouth to him.
"Sam," Steve's voice calls over the comms and luckily tears Sam away from the scene and back to the mission.
The safe house they're staying in is small. The kitchen is the size of a closet, so if two people are in there at the same time they have to step sideways and still, they'll press against each other as they slide across. Which doesn't really help with Sam's growing attraction toward his new ex-assassin teammate. Especially when the man is in the kitchen twelve times a day to feed his super soldier appetite and coffee addiction.
They've just returned from the mission and somehow there's already a pot brewing by the time Sam walks in. Bucky and Natasha are laughing over the minuscule kitchen island. Sam stops at the front door to kick his boots off. His face feels hot and he knows it's the memory of those two swapping tongues from earlier.
Steve walks past Sam and marches to stand before the tiny kitchen.
"Well done everyone," Steve announces turning so he can look between the snickering duo and Sam, "Flashdrive?"
Steve holds out his hand and Natasha flashes him a wild grin. She slowly dips her hand under the collar of her shirt, into her bra. She pulls out a small device and hands it over to Steve.
Steve averts his eyes, his face beaming red, as he awkwardly tries to smile and then thanks her. Steve quickly rounds the kitchen island to plug the flash drive into a laptop.
"Didn't know there was so much making out required for a flash drive," Sam jests, sauntering over to the kitchen space.
"Did it turn you on, Sam?" Natasha teases.
Sam's skin boils from the fact that it did but he merely shrugs and peers over Steve's shoulder at the laptop screen as if that interests him more.
"I mean, if I had known maybe I would've volunteered for the undercover role," Sam smiles, desperate to play this all off as a joke. He keeps his eyes glued to Natasha because if he even looks at Bucky he's pretty sure the truth will shatter his facade.
"I would've taken any of you boys," Natasha poses and leans forward to catch Steve's eyes. She pinches Steve's chin to lift his gaze. Steve turns bright red and glares in embarrassment at her. He's such an easy target, Sam smirks to himself.
"I much prefer the fieldwork than the performance," Steve declares.
They all laugh at that and it causes Steve to speedily shuts the laptop and hoist it under his arm.
"I'm going to borrow the room to analyze this data," Steve proclaims and hurries into a bedroom.
The safehouse only has two rooms, one master bed and a second room furnished with two twin beds. They decided to give Natasha the master bedroom which leaves the three men to alternate between the twin beds and the couch. Tonight is Steve's night for the couch which means for the first time, Sam's going to be sharing the room with Bucky.
While Steve uses the bedroom temporarily, Sam drinks a few cups of coffee with Bucky and Natasha. Luckily, the conversation remains off the mission and stays pretty neutral. By the time the evening wraps up, two carafes of coffee have been emptied. Sam's pretty wired from the caffeine intake when Bucky enters the bedroom later that night and closes the door behind him.
Sam slows his movements and falls into a trance watching him. Bucky catches Sam's eye. He pauses and looks back toward the door.
"You want it open?" Bucky asks, his assumption as to why Sam is blatantly staring.
Sam shakes his head no and averts his eyes. Bucky proceeds to the second bed and starts rummaging through his bag. The room is dead silent minus the shuffling of things. Sam can't help how awkward he feels.
The truth is, the awkwardness has nothing to do with Sam's inappropriate feelings toward the man. It's about the fact that Sam doesn't know how to talk to the guy. He knew Steve and Bucky would rekindle their long-time friendship and get along like old pals. Natasha, on the other hand, has the same rocky history as Sam does with Bucky and yet, somehow Natasha and him hit it off as it they could've been lifelong friends. It was jarring for Sam to see how instantly they bonded and over what... he wonders constantly. Because Sam is a friendly guy, charismatic, and usually people take a liking to him easily. But he feels this distance between him and Bucky. He knows the man is guarded, keeps a wall up, but Steve and Natasha have effortlessly blown past that barrier meanwhile it's like Sam can't even make a dent.
Sam needs to break this awkward silence. Tonight he tries with a joke.
"I gotta say, ya'll were pretty believable tonight," Sam quips.
Bucky peers up at him.
"Yeah well, she's a good kisser," Bucky smirks for a moment and then lets it fade.
Sam nods hating how he suddenly has nothing to say to that and now it feels more uncomfortable that he brought it up at all.
Sam can't sleep that night. He blames it on all the coffee he's been drinking lately and when he wakes up miserably tired, he decides he needs to cut out the late-night caffeine. He doesn't drink a lick of coffee the next day and then sleeps like a baby during his next turn on the couch.
So he decides to keep it up, give up coffee indefinitely, and unfortunately, Bucky is the first to notice. It happens when Sam's in the kitchen making himself a protein shake. Bucky slides in behind him to get to the coffee pot. Sam's consequently shoved into the small counter in order to make room for the bulky super soldier behind him. Sam's not bothered. This has happened plenty of times since they've all been forced to share such a small place. And really, Sam's had to suppress countless dirty thoughts every time it's Bucky who's unintentionally pushing him into the counter.
Sam feels a gentle hand touch his shoulder.
"Sorry," Bucky says softly, dropping his hand a second later and turning to pour himself some coffee, "You want a cup?"
"No thanks," Sam says and then presses the blender on.
The room fills with a loud roar. Bucky stays trapped in the corner, waiting by the coffee pot, when Sam stops the whirl of the blender. He turns to see Bucky leaning back against the counter watching him.
"You can slide back," Sam prompts motioning behind himself.
"You haven't been drinking coffee," Bucky says.
He takes a sip of coffee without taking his eyes off Sam. It makes Sam more feverish than the beverage.
"Yeah," Sam affirms, "Gave it up."
Bucky's gaze lingers on him as if his answer doesn't suffice. Sam returns his focus back to the blender and pours the contents of his smoothie into a large glass. He picks up the glass and proceeds out of the kitchen to the small corner they consider the living room and sits on the only loveseat. Even with his back turned, sipping on his protein shake, he can feel Bucky's eyes digging into the back of his skull and his heart races because of it. He really hopes super soldier can't pick up on heartbeats.
It's official, the world has it out for Sam. It's bad enough Sam is developing this inappropriate crush on Bucky. Now the universe has come back around and slapped him in the face with an undercover assignment at of course a gay bar. Sam knew immediately Steve was going to use his field excuse or any excuse to get out of it and regardless, Sam knew he was going in for this because he came out to Steve a few years ago. Which leaves him with Bucky.
They're sitting at the bar, on separate barstools about a foot apart. A far cry from how Natasha and Bucky were sitting while on their undercover mission. Sam tries not to think about that. It's not a requirement to make out and he shouldn't be hoping for that. He can't hope for anything.
Unfortunately, Sam's new commitment to no caffeine has been getting to him recently. It's late in the evening and his eyes keep nearly fluttering closed from the heaviness in them. He keeps snapping them back open and taking a swig of his martini in hopes of staying awake.
When Sam finishes his martini, Bucky motions to the bartender but this time he orders a coffee. Sam instantly glares at the man.
"Really?" Sam grits.
The bartender returns and slides a small white cup toward Bucky and Bucky glides it across to Sam.
Sam shakes his head.
"I'm not drinking this. I gave up coffee," Sam refutes but now that the cup is in front of him he's hit with the sweet bitter aroma and can't help when his eyes close from how good it smells.
"Yeah, that's dumb. Drink it," Bucky argues.
Sam gives him an incredulous look.
"You ordered it," Sam retaliates and pushes the coffee back to his partner.
"For you," Bucky battles as the bartender steps up to them again.
"Trouble in paradise?" the worker laughs.
Sam freezes in fear. They're supposed to be a convincing couple, their bickering could easily blow their cover. Surprisingly, Bucky doesn't miss a beat. He laughs back at the stranger with a gorgeous smile and replies for them.
"No trouble, someone just thinks he can do things like give up coffee but forgets he’ll get cranky. Isn't that right, sweetheart?"
Bucky turns to Sam with that breathtaking smile and Sam's never really been the recipient of any of Bucky's charming facial expressions. In Sam's buffering to reply, Bucky reaches over and places his hand over Sam's, his thumb softly caresses Sam’s knuckle and that's a lot. The warm grip holding his hand, the beaming smile, and the pet name all at once.
"Right," Sam manages feebly.
Thankfully, the bartender must take Sam's frail reply as proof of his de-caffeinated crankiness.
"Let's get you a double shot!" the man decides and hurries away to make a fresh cup.
Sam glares at Bucky but his partner is still smirking widely at him. The bartender returns with the double shot of coffee and unfortunately, Bucky takes his hand back when the cup is placed in front of Sam.
"Thank you," Sam extends to the worker.
Another patron motions the bartender over and the man leaves them alone. Sam stares at his cup. He holds the warm sides under his palms but doesn't move it closer to him. He senses Bucky leaning into his side.
"You should probably work on your acting," Bucky criticizes low.
"I'm a great actor," Sam battles, "I'm pretending to be into you, aren't I?"
"Barely," Bucky rolls his eyes and sits back again.
Sam swallows a hard lump in his throat. He has been doing a shit job and really, he's just distracted. He may not understand how but the reality is, it's a damn curse how much Sam wants this man who's merely pretending to want him. That makes Sam frown. He should really start getting back out there and find some kind of distraction to get his mind off Bucky.
Through Sam's spiraling thoughts, Bucky jolts him back to the present.
"Drink your coffee," he orders.
"No," Sam refuses and pushes the second cup away.
The night is going on longer than either of them planned. Sam's had to stop himself at three martinis and the worst part is even after all these long hours, he still hasn't had the pleasure of getting to sit in Bucky's lap or even get a taste of those lips. You would think going undercover as a couple would at least award him one small peck but no, Sam's gotten nothing. And his buzz is starting to wear off all the while the exhaustion is hitting him down to his bones.
It's not until two a.m. do they finally make some progress. They're being escorted to a back room currently with the club owner who they're pretty sure has a connection to their target.
They're a few steps behind the bodyguard leading them down the dark hallway when Sam leans closer to Bucky.
"Let me do the talking, alright?" Sam whispers, "I'm the better talker and you know it."
Bucky's only response is the steady scowl that's been on his face all night. Sam breaks into a small smile.
"Not gonna even fight me on that one?" Sam goads nudging him with an elbow.
"You are the better talker," Bucky shrugs matter-of-factly, "But I'm the better kisser."
Sam is grateful for the dim lighting of this shady hallway because he flushes violently at that. He can't respond when the only thing he wants to say is how much he'd really love to test that theory.
The guard stops them at a closed door. The door opens on its own and the man waits for them to enter.
"Only one guy is in critical condition," Bucky excuses like that's a perfect rationale for Steve Rogers.
"It should be no one," Steve sighs.
"To be fair, he came after us. No one else saw either. It was after we left the room and Barnes left him in the alley," Sam surprisingly defends his partner.
Sam glances at Bucky and sees him beam with a proud smile. When he turns back to Steve, the captain is rubbing his temple.
"I need you guys back in tomorrow night and this time, I'd appreciate less unnecessary damage and more information on our target," Steve instructs.
He turns to walk away when Bucky stops him.
"You sure you don't wanna fill in, Steve? It's not bad, there were only a few guys blowing each other in the bathroom," Bucky offers with a wicked grin on his face.
Steve spins back with wide eyes and pink painting his face. He tries to glare but it's futile.
"No thank you, I'd prefer to stay here," Steve answers causing a snicker out of Bucky before he turns to Sam, "No offense, Sam."
"None taken," Sam says quietly.
"Maybe James and I should follow up on our lead from last week," Natasha chimes in from the kitchen.
"Maybe," Steve pauses to consider this, "Let's revisit that option after we follow through on this one."
Without saying anything, Sam casually escapes by stepping outside with an excuse about getting air. He can't admit to anyone how much he's dreading even the idea of seeing Natasha and Bucky all tangled up together again. Thighs, hands, lips everywhere. It makes his stomach twist painfully.
He seriously might be in too deep.
At this point, it's honestly foolish for Sam to continue giving up coffee. He's exhausted and last night he didn't sleep at all but now it's become some sort of necessity to refuse any and all coffee Bucky offers him. Maybe it's childish but more likely it's the principle that Sam wanted to give it up and Bucky never respected that. So Sam can't fold now.
Sam enters the kitchen and draws in a slow breath to soak in the mouthwatering smell of coffee brewing. Bucky’s standing in front of the pot with his arms crossed and a mug in hand. He watches Sam as he walks to fetch the blender from the cabinet and start on his protein shake.
Sam begins pouring the ingredients of his shake into the glass when he's distracted by a low hum that soon builds in volume. Sam looks over at Bucky who's sipping on his coffee and when the cup retracts from his lips he spills a long and slow, "Mhmmmmmm," so sensually it could be considered a moan. Sam really doesn't need to add that to his arsenal of things he finds attractive about this man.
Sam stares forward again pretending he didn't care for that at all.
"What're you doing?" Sam snips.
"Nothing. Just enjoying my coffee."
Sam turns back to his blender and continues building his shake.
“Oh.”
Sam stops and rolls his eyes before turning to look at Bucky.
“What?” Sam huffs.
Bucky shakes his head and stares at the mug in his hand.
“Just a real good cup today, mhm,” Bucky boasts. Then he takes a long, slow slurp where his eyes close and his chest heaves with the fullest breath of delight when he's done. No respect at all, Sam thinks.
Sam ignores him or at least does his best to. He puts on the lid to the blender and presses the start button, happy to drown out Bucky with the incessant grating of the blender. Of course, this is when Bucky decides to leave Sam in peace and to do that he has to slide against Sam's backside to get out of the small kitchen. Sam's propelled into the counter, as always, although this time it feels rougher than usual. He grips onto the edge of the countertop when he feels Bucky still behind him. The man's breath suddenly ghosts against the skin of his neck. Bucky speaks the word "sorry" close enough to Sam's ear that he's able to hear it over the loud blender.
The space behind him opens up and Sam watches Bucky walk to the loveseat to finish his coffee.
The lack of coffee is really hitting Sam tonight and he takes a shot the second they return to the bar that night. Bucky watches him and although most people would find his expression vacant, it's not. Sam knows the man well enough to see the judging under-tones of the seemingly flat stare. He puts his hand out to his partner.
"Don't start."
Bucky doesn't, he only sits down on one of the barstools and drinks from his martini which he clearly hates if the wince he makes after every sip is any indication. Silence stretches between them and it's not good for Sam to be left to his thought because his mind's been spiraling since Natasha's suggestion of following up on their first lead. The daunting thought of Natasha and Bucky having another go at playing couple and locking lips has Sam's gaze wandering unintentionally to Bucky's mouth. Those pouty lips have always looked so kissable. It's seriously a wonder how many times Sam has found himself staring at them over the past few weeks. An undercover mission like this is supposed to be his rare chance. It's justified — for the mission and yet, here Sam is on night two with no lip action at all.
Sam sighs and looks toward the crowd. Everyone is pressed against each other, grinding so desperately close together like it's their oxygen source. Sam glances at Bucky. They're still waiting for their leads to show, the back room has been empty thus far. Sam's foot starts tapping impatiently and maybe it's the exhaustion hitting him and his need to stay awake because in a spur of a moment, he jumps out of his chair.
"Gonna dance," Sam rattles off and doesn't bother granting Bucky a look before he dives into the dense sea of people.
He finds a guy easily, actually they find him. He has a stranger's hands on him in seconds and they instantly press together and sway to the pounding music of the club. The man is aggressive, already rubbing his crotch against Sam's and unfortunately, it's doing nothing for Sam.
Sam keeps up the act though, grinding right back, swaying to the music with his hands on the guy's ass. When the next remixed chorus hits, Sam feels new hands on his hips coming from behind. Abruptly the heat in front of him vanishes. Sam opens his eyes to find the stranger he was dancing with backing away. Sam arches an eyebrow at the peculiar retreat until the man dancing behind him pulls him flesh against his broad chest. It's then Sam recognizes the solid sensation on his left side and registers metal. It's Bucky.
Sam's breath nearly catches. He recognizes Bucky's familiar scent as his partner's mouth rests in the crook of his shoulder. Bucky grinds his hips into Sam like every other couple, blending in perfectly. Except, it's all so much for Sam and at the same time, not enough. This is the most contact he's ever gotten with Bucky, the movement is rougher than when he's shoved into the counter to make space in the safehouse kitchen and the heat radiating off the man is making Sam's skin burn.
Sam realizes he has one excuse, he can play dumb. Pretend he didn't realize it was Bucky. So he presses back against the super soldier and hooks his hand around the back of Bucky's neck, keeping them close. They meld with the beat and even as he feels Bucky guiding him somewhere, it's seamless. Sam opens his eyes as he's being pulled into the bathroom and for a blinding moment, Sam thinks he's about the have the air kissed out of him and maybe a thousand other filthy things done to him. And he wants it so stupidly much that his eyes fall shut when he's pressed against the cold tiled wall but then nothing comes. No hot breath, no soft lips, no rough hands. He opens his eyes and finds Bucky standing a foot away peaking out the slightly ajar door. He steps back and lets it close.
"They're gone," Bucky says flatly.
Sam blinks trying to wash away every turned on molecule in his body but he's still flaming with heat.
"Who?" Sam gets out.
"The bodyguards that were eyeing us funny. They were heading straight for you," Bucky explains and his words are like a shock of cold water. Sam's such an idiot for ever thinking Bucky could've been secretly interested too. To think Bucky lost control and felt Sam up out of a weak moment of lust and need. Idiot.
"Let's go," Sam commands acting like he has any semblance of dignity left. He stalks right out of the bathroom and knows Bucky is following behind him. He scans the room forcing his mind to tune into the mission and only the mission. Forget everything else. Focus, Sam tells himself.
It could never be that easy, Sam realizes when the guards make direct eye contact with him. He spins around, shoves Bucky against the wall and takes everything he's ever wanted — those pouty, pink lips. He kisses him and Bucky doesn't even hesitate, kissing him back breathlessly, tirelessly. Bucky's hands dig into his waist and Sam can't breathe — god, this is everything, everything but it has to end. This is just a cover. Sam pulls himself away and steps back. He scans behind them and takes a relieved breath in when he sees the bodyguards striding the opposite way. Sam is embarrassingly out of breath, panting quietly to himself and hoping Bucky can't hear it over the booming music enveloping the bar.
He refuses to look at Bucky now. He finally felt those lips, finally got a taste of them and it was good. He can't let himself think the words he wants more but god does he ever.
He's officially in too deep.
Of course, tonight is once again Sam's turn to share the second bedroom with Bucky. Sam's head remains hazy from the kiss, from the memory of every inch of Bucky's body pressed against his, grinding into his ass.
Sam is quiet through their mini debrief with Steve. The mission was a bust anyway. The guards keep suspiciously following them until they were forced out of the bar.
Sam's sitting on one of the twin beds in a daze. The night is flashing back to him like a looping record. Bucky enters the room and Sam tenses like he's done something wrong. Bucky regards him and right when Sam assumes he'll make his way to the other bed, he beelines it straight for him. Sam's first thought is he's about to be yelled at as if Bucky could scold him for secretly desiring so many inappropriate things that he has never actually voiced. Sam braces himself for whatever argument is about to be screamed at him but instead, a firm hand of vibranium is pulling him up and suddenly he's being kissed again.
Sam breathes in a slow breath when Bucky lets him go. His lips tingle and the same thought he had at the bar rings in his head: he wants more.
Unfortunately, the shock of the situation causes Sam to talk instead of kissing the man more.
"This isn't payback, is it?" Sam asks and Bucky just stares at him, "For the kiss at the bar."
Bucky's gaze drops to Sam's mouth. Sam feels his insides ignite.
"Yeah, it's payback," Bucky mutters and then he kisses the living breath out of Sam.
In between a kiss, he pulls Sam's bottom lip down with his teeth. It turns Sam into one large shiver as he lies back on the small bed. Bucky crawls over him while kissing his neck, devouring every inch of skin until Sam caves and moans. Bucky's hands plunge under Sam's shirt, palms spread up to his nipples, thumbs rubbing over them and Sam cries out a bit. It's been so long and he's still tipsy from the bar, everything feels amped up to a hundred.
Every nerve in Sam's body is cranked to an even higher level when Bucky's mouth is closing around the head of his cock. He doesn't even remember his clothes coming off and suddenly he's naked from the waist down with that gorgeous mouth swallowing him down. Sam throws his head back and moans. He covers his mouth realizing Natasha's next door and Steve's right outside on the couch. Shit, Steve's got super hearing too. But Sam can't really help himself when Bucky starts a quick and easy motion bobbing up and down his cock. Sam claws into the bedsheets under him and his thighs squirm in protest. Bucky's hands press both of them down and somehow that's all it takes. The firm grip of Bucky's hands holding him completely in place, unable to move while a tongue snakes up him. Sam comes, hard and shaking.
He hears the pop of a mouth and opens his eyes to watch Bucky slowly crawl over him and plant a wet kiss on his lips. Sam licks his mouth after Bucky rests next to him and the taste is salty.
"Fuck," Sam huffs quietly, "Where are you?"
Sam lazily reaches over, feeling in between his legs but Bucky leans over and kisses his neck.
"I already..." Bucky husks, sounding out of breath, and a second later it clicks for Sam.
"Oh," Sam frowns feeling like he missed out on some of the fun there.
"Sorry," Bucky whispers ruefully, "Been a while."
Sam shakes his head, pushing himself back so he can face him.
"You're gonna have to pay for that," Sam smirks.
Bucky visibly tries to hold back a smile.
"More payback?"
"Have to. Can't let you get away with this one," Sam plays.
Bucky's smile breaks loose. He leans forward and kisses Sam again. He sighs when he lets go like it's a relief to kiss him.
"I gotta be honest," Sam comments, "I thought you were into Nat."
Bucky snorts a laugh. Sam gives him a funny look.
"I thought you were into Nat," Bucky echoes.
They both laugh this time, a little too loudly.
A knocking at the door startles Sam awake. He jumps up about to push Bucky out of the bed before their other teammates catch them together when he realizes the bed is empty and so is the other one. The door begins to creep open and Bucky pokes his head inside.
"Buck," Sam breathes with relief, "What's going on?"
Bucky slips into the room and shuts the door behind him. In his hand is a coffee mug. He walks it over, sits on the edge of Sam's bed, and holds the mug out to him.
"I brought you some coffee," Bucky states.
Sam immediately glares at the man. Even after last night, even after everything, the man still can't respect his choice to give up caffeine.
"Come on, you get a kiss if you take a small sip," Bucky provokes.
And as adorable as that is, Sam keeps a scowl firm on his face.
"You wouldn't kiss me if I didn't?" Sam tests.
Bucky sighs with a frown.
"Please, drink it... for me?" Bucky pleads and that gets Sam's eyebrows furrowing in confusion. Words like please aren't ones you hear often from this man.
"Why do you care so much?" Sam asks genuinely.
"I really don't want you to give up coffee," Bucky says and he's serious. The tone in his voice is so sincere, it renders Sam speechless for a moment.
Bucky places the cup down on the nightstand. He fiddles with his hands in his lap and then peers up at the wall to avoid Sam's eyes. Sam sits up straighter knowing a confession is coming but about what... Sam can't possibly guess.
"After I got free, I was a mess — obviously. I don't know if you remember but I pulled Steve out from the water," Bucky begins.
Sam nods silently and waits for him to continue.
"I was freezing and I wanted something warm. It took me a while to get there. I had to find new clothes but then I remember drinking the first cup of coffee I'd had in seventy years and it was this incredible moment of peace. That first sip was... freedom," Bucky shares, pausing for a moment.
Sam's chest tightens. Bucky takes a deep breath in.
"I don't want you to not have it. You love coffee, you should have it — always," Bucky says.
Sam blinks. It was shocking enough to know all this taunting these past few weeks was coming from such a grave place but to have Bucky open up and share this all with him... these moments are certainly far and few between.
Sam finally reaches over and picks up the mug. He watches Bucky's eyes light up with a hopefulness that nearly breaks Sam's heart.
Sam takes a sip. His eyes close without meaning to. The taste of coffee hasn't hit his tongue in weeks and it's downright glorious. Sam unabashedly savors every second of it and when he opens his eyes he lets out an honest breath of relief. God, he's missed this brown liquid heaven.
Bucky's mouth carefully curls into a smile and he looks grateful. Sam frowns at the reality of the situation.
"You should've said something sooner," Sam says.
"I figured you'd fight me on it," Bucky retorts.
"Not if you were that honest with me," Sam says and Bucky only shortly nods. "Hey, I still get that kiss?"
So Sam's back to drinking coffee. He's enjoying some with Bucky out in the common area when Natasha walks out wearing a thin robe. Her hair is freshly washed, wet and dripping over her shoulders.
"Shower is free, boys. You gonna take turns or just share?" she asks sinfully.
"What?" Bucky blinks with panic in his eyes.
"We're not..." Sam stutters right behind him.
"Sure," Natasha sings unconvinced as she makes her way to the small kitchen.
Both men shared worried looks and then shift their gaze back to her.
"Really Nat, we don't know where you're getting this from," Sam fights futilely.
"Uh huhh," she hums sipping on some water.
She doesn't taunt them anymore just heads back to the master bedroom with her water.
"How does she know everything?" Sam whispers to Bucky.
"Maybe we weren't as quiet as we thought," Bucky supposes.
"You weren't!" Steve answers from the other room.
After that, they don't bother hiding it. As embarrassing as it was to get caught so immediately, Sam's pretty thankful for the sudden freedom to do what he wants around Bucky. Like when he finds the man the next morning, leaning against the counter with the coffee pot behind him. Sam treads over and fits his arms easily around Bucky's waist. Bucky's face softens and right as he's about to lean into Sam's lips, Sam picks up the carafe. The sound makes Bucky pause. Sam brings the pot around and turns to pour some coffee into the mug on the adjacent counter. When he turns back to return the carafe, Bucky is looking at him with an amused smile. He allows Sam to reach back around him and return the pot.
Bucky's arms swiftly wrap around Sam before he can get in a single sip. Sam allows it, allows himself to be tugged forward and kissed by the man. Sam warms with it and when Bucky lets him go, he sighs contently.
"I love this kitchen," Sam quips lightheartedly.
He rests his head against Bucky's chest and hugs him.
Bucky laughs making his chest vibrate against Sam's cheek.
"Drink your coffee," Bucky orders affectionately.
"No."
