Work Text:
With clear excitement, I ran through the kitchen, gatering all kinds of snacks and drinks such as chips, gummy bears, coke and so on. When my arms were full, I brought these to the living room, placing it on the table.
I repeated this process a few times, before deciding it was finally enough. Taking a look at the couch, I decided we needed more blankets and pillows, we wanted to have it comfortable after all.
Just in case someone might be wondering what I was doing that for, well that's a quite simple question. Venti and I wanted to do a movie night again, the first in weeks actually. He was working in clubs, singing there and of course, he stayed longer to drink when he finished. This is Venti, after all. I would be concerned if he didn't honestly.
Problem now was, that because of this, we spend less time together, as I was away from time to time too. So, a few days ago, Venti and I planned to have a movie night today. He promised he would not stay longer, but come home right away when he had finished.
So now, I was preparing everything. I offered him to choose the movie, but he said I could, ending in a little argument that ended with us agreeing to decide it together, to prevent any more arguments.
Only a few minutes later, I was finished with everything. The couch was covered in pillows and blankets, on the table were many sweets, and the TV was on, prepared to play any movie.
I quickly threw a look at the clock.'8:42p.m.' I thought, quite disappointed. Didn't Venti say he always finished up at around 8pm? The way home surely wasn't that long, right?
'No Y/N, it's fine. Maybe it took a little longer than expected or something.' I tried to calm myself down. Venti wouldn't disappoint me like this, I was sure of it.
I slowly sat down on the couch, just to get up again only seconds later, walking to the window and staring outside. I repeated this a few times, as I could just not sit still. The time seemed to go by so slow. After a time that felt like hours, I took a look at the clock, I realised it had only been like seven minutes.
A sigh left my lips. What took him so long...? Why wasn't he coming? He surely didn't forgot me or anything, right?
Tears welled up in my eyes. "N‐no Y/N, don't cry" I told myself with a shaky voice. "V‐venti would never‐ he would never do that to you, he‐ he promised after all!"
'Maybe I should..text him.' I thought. 'Yeah, that would be a good Idea.'
I walked over to my room where I had left my phone, then coming back with it to text him. But just when I clicked on his contact, the door flew open, which propaply caused by the bard, that now stood in the doorframe, panting like crazy.
"Venti?!" I gasped out. Just then I realised he was soaking wet, and behind him I could see the rain going down outside.
How could I not have noticed it was starting to rain? I loved the rain, after all. (A/N: My apologies if you don't, but I do so I decided to add it. If not, just imagine that this one would be written down here :] )
"I- I'm sorry for being late" Venti managed to get out. " I- I forgot and then- and then it started raining and I got confused and got lost and had to find the way back and-"
"Hey hey hey!" I interrupted him. "It's okay, you don't have to worry about it! You need to get out of your wet clothes though!"
In a demanding manner, I grapped his hand and dragged him over to the bathroom. "You are going to take a hot shower now! After that, we can talk, alright?"
Although Venti seemed to want to argue at first, he just let me drag him over to the bathroom.
It took me a few minutes to assure him everything was fine and that we would talk later, before he finally agreed to actually shower and I left the bathroom because of obvious reasons.
Meanwhile, I went to the door. Of course I had closed it before we went to the bathroom, however the floor was still wet. So took a towel out of the kitchen and started cleaning up.
Just when I had finished and was bringing the now completely wet towel away, when I heard the Bathroomdoor open.
"Oh! I see you're done?" I smiled slightly whilw turning around to look into Venti's eyes.
He still seemed to feel bad about the fact that he had arrived late, that thought was proofed a second later, when the boy infront of me started speaking.
"Y/N I- really, I am really sorry. I know that you prepared everything and where so excited and I- I just forgot about it and then even got lost!"
I let out a slight sigh. Of course, he was still blaming himself. Yes, I was sad and kind of disappointed, not gonna lie, but seeing him with this sad and guilty look on his face, standing right infront of me, I couldn't be mad or anything.
After all, he seemed genuienly guilty and truly tried to be here in time, after all he had been running in the rain. In such stress, that he forgot he could've just called or texted me.
I wanted to tell him all this. I wanted to tell him I forgave him, that it was alright and that I didn't blame him. However, I was not good with words. At least not in person. In texts, letters and all that stuff I could go with words well - but like I said, as soon as I had to talk with people this reduced immediately and talked like my brain was broken - which was kind of the case if I was honest.
So, I did the only thing that came into my mind: I stepped forward and hugged him. I buried my head into his shoulder and put my arms around him. I could hear him gasp slightly, before putting his arms around me aswell.
"I told you" I whispered into the air. "It's fine, I understand. Don't put yourself down because of this."
It went silent for a good amount of seconds.
I knew he was struggeling to find out what to say, so I went away a little and smiled at him.
"Let's go and finally watch the movie, hm?"
He tilted his head a little, as if he was thinking about it.
Then, a slight smile appeared on his face. "You got it!" H e exclaimed excitedly and grabbed my wrists, dragging me over to the living room, before he stopped in the doorframe all of a sudden, his eyes widen in amazement.
The bard turned around to me, hugging me tightly once again.
"It looks beautiful!" He said happily and honestly, even if it were only three little words, it felt so good.
We quickly continued our way over to our couch, sitting down, cuddling up under the blankets, getting as comfortable as possible.
The film started, we were cuddling and the rain outside made me feel even more comfortable, so this way, I had honestly already forgotten about the incident before we had gotten to this.
